Chapter 13
The sharp glint in his eyes fell upon her, and Shen Shirou shuddered violently!
Shen Qingci’s husband… was actually Xi Xingye? From the Xi family?!
Meanwhile, the butler hurriedly reported the situation to the old master.
“People from the Shen family? Causing a scene at the door, insulting Qingci, saying Xi Xingye is an old man, and this young man caught them red-handed?” Old Master Xi repeated, frowning.
“Yes!” the butler said quietly. “Should we stop them? This situation doesn’t look good.”
Old Master Xi turned and pointed in their direction. “Go…”
“Yes, we’ll stop them immediately!”
“Give Xi Xingye the megaphone, let him scold them properly!” Old Master Xi added.
Around the scene, people were already whispering and speculating.
Shen Shirou gritted her teeth inwardly but forced a smile. “I’m sorry, Young Master Xi. It’s all my fault—I spoke without understanding the situation.”
“Spoke without understanding, and you’re still yapping like a dog?!”
A thunderous roar exploded.
No one expected Xi Xingye to suddenly point at Shen Shirou and start shouting: “I’m an old man?! Open your eyes wide and look at me! Where am I old?!”
Shen Shirou’s temple twitched violently.
Normally, in a scene like this, people of status would just smile apologetically and be done with it…
But this man was different! She could feel real trouble brewing.
Shen Lan had also arrived, intending to argue a little.
But on the other side, it was like facing a bursting firecracker—every word he tried to speak was met with ten insults. He wanted to sink into the ground on the spot, pushing Shen Shirou to escape outside.
However, they hadn’t even gotten five meters before the ear-piercing scolding followed them.
It was even coming through the microphone that had been snatched from the host.
“Where do you think you’re running? Did Grandpa tell you to run?! What’s your name, huh? Speak up! After Grandpa finishes the wedding, we’ll put it in the paper and get you an eye doctor to check out those two lanterns you call eyes!”
“You, with the wheelchair! And you, the long-haired sissy! What are you doing with that hairstyle at such a young age—ugly as hell!”
“I’ve seen it all! Your drama costs as much as my money! And you two are here, spinning around naked, embarrassing yourselves?”
“And who she marries is none of your business! Afraid she’s marrying an old man? Did you cry yourself to sleep last night?”
Shen Shirou tried to leave, but several bodyguards blocked her, forcing her to listen, her eyes turning red with anger.
Suddenly, Shen Qingci’s voice came from behind: “Enough. Let them in first. The ceremony is about to start.”
Xi Xingye smoothed his sleeve, pressed his lips together, and remained silent.
Shen Shirou sneered inwardly.
Could this mad dog really listen to her?!
Unexpectedly, Xi Xingye remained silent, and no one else responded.
Finally, he turned to the bodyguards: “What are you looking at me for?! Don’t you have ears? Didn’t you hear me?! Let them in!”
Shen Shirou’s eyes widened instantly.
He really listened?!
Many of the Xi family’s rivals present were shocked.
They knew this man—who never stopped until he tore the sky apart—would release someone just because of a word from the bride? The Xi family was about to change!
Shen Shirou felt a mix of anger and surprise. “Hurry up and go.”
Shen Lan snapped out of his stupor and immediately pushed her inside.
Nearby, Xu Zijie was watching the whole scene with Grandma Xu.
Grandma Xu was beaming with happiness, her smile stretching to her ears. Excited and thrilled, she covered her mouth, saying, “Oh my, Xingye scolded someone for his wife? I’m obsessed! Obsessed!”
A few steps away, Grandpa Xu heard this and tensed immediately, rushing over.
“Obsessed? Let me see!”
Grandma Xu pushed him away: “Move! If you don’t go surfing, we’ll have no common ground!”
“Ah? Surf, surf! I’m going!” Grandpa Xu immediately pulled out his phone, ordered a full set of surfboards and wetsuits, and then happily hid the phone.
…
In no time, it was the peak of guest arrivals.
Xi Xingye stood at the entrance greeting guests, adjusting his tie in the reflection of the wall décor.
No matter what he tried, he couldn’t get it right. He casually asked someone where Zhang Jie had gone.
The person shook their head. Xi Xingye, unwilling to give up, asked someone else.
Shen Qingci, standing nearby, couldn’t watch anymore.
“Come here.”
Hearing Shen Qingci’s voice, Xi Xingye instinctively put on a scowl, acting arrogantly. “What?”
“To fix your tie.”
The cool, clear voice rang out. Xi Xingye didn’t look down, but his peripheral vision betrayed him—he couldn’t help noticing those slender, delicate hands.
His chest heaved, and he deliberately moved his gaze aside. “I warn you, guard your heart. I won’t—”
Before he could finish, Xi Xingye was suddenly yanked forward, caught off guard.
Before he could react, that clear, cold voice rang out again.
“Shut up.”
The words at his lips died unsaid.
Her warm breath brushed his ear, hot and slightly ticklish, making him uneasy all over.
At that moment, a commotion erupted behind him.
Xi Xingye’s attention was drawn, and he straightened to look back.
In the corner of her eye, Shen Qingci saw the troublemakers she had hired at the entrance. She grabbed his tie and pulled again.
One bent, one tiptoed.
Her gentle lips brushed quickly across his cheek.
Slightly ticklish, like an electric current, it sent Xi Xingye into a daze.
He stared, frozen for a full three seconds, then clenched his breath and shouted three words:
“Shen! Qing! Ci!”
His attention was completely hooked, jumping up and down. “I’m dirty, I’m dirty! Shen Qingci! Shen Qingci! Shen Qingci!”
Every time he shouted her name, it compounded ten thousand times over with embarrassment and rage.
Shen Qingci didn’t care at all. She calmly threatened, “Cause more trouble, and I’ll kiss you in public.”
Xi Xingye’s breathing stopped, eyes wide, disbelief written all over his face.
After a long moment, teeth gritted, he forced out, “Are you even a woman?!”
“I’m not—you are?” Shen Qingci sized him up. “Or do you want to verify? Just so happens tonight’s wedding night—”
“You’re dreaming!” Xi Xingye turned to leave.
But he collided with someone head-on and had to step back.
“Xingye.” Lou Xinyue smiled gently, her makeup simple and fresh, a pure white dress accentuating her innocence. She tilted her brows and offered her bouquet. “Congratulations on your wedding.”
Xi Xingye pressed his lips together as he accepted it, and when he lowered his eyes, he noticed the bracelet on her wrist—stars and a crescent moon he had given her.
Xi Xingye was momentarily stunned, looking at Lou Xinyue.
She posed gracefully: “I was wondering how you’d look in a groom’s suit. Handsome, as expected. Congratulations to you both.”
With that, she entered the banquet hall, her gaze lingering on Xi Xingye like a hook.
Xi Xingye stared at her retreating figure for a few seconds, frowning.
Was she having a seizure or what?
Then he turned again, catching Shen Qingci’s faint, teasing smile.
