Chapter 15
Shen Qingci glanced at him, then went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water, pretending she hadn’t seen anything.
Xi Xingye was furious. Seeing her so unenthusiastic, he assumed it was because of the wedding today.
After a few moments of hesitation, he said, “The wedding was only half done today. Don’t be upset. At worst, we can make up for it next time.”
Then he immediately added, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not caring about you—it’s because you helped me fix that door. I always repay kindness and revenge slights.”
No response.
He was puzzled and took a couple of steps outside, only to see Shen Qingci coming out of the kitchen.
Xi Xingye finally noticed the large bloodstain spreading across the back of her white shirt. Her clothes were even torn.
He raised an eyebrow. “How did you get hurt? I thought you were good at fighting?”
“An accident,” Shen Qingci replied, her voice even colder than usual, and walked away without another word.
Xi Xingye muttered under his breath, “Truly heartless.”
Looking at such a serious injury, yet this woman remained completely calm—she was truly wild.
He pursed his lips and was about to go over when his phone suddenly rang.
He picked it up and frowned, cutting the call immediately.
But the person on the other end didn’t relent. Every time he hung up, they called again.
Finally annoyed, Xi Xingye answered.
“You there?”
“Xi Xingye! Do you even have me in your eyes? I was the last to know about such a huge wedding!” Xi Zhenghao shouted.
Xi Xingye leaned lazily against the wall, a mocking smirk on his lips. “The last to know? And you would’ve brought your little innocent flower and wild child with you? Do they even deserve to be there?”
“What little flower, what wild child?! That’s your mother and your brother!”
Xi Xingye’s face darkened. “My mom’s long dead. Her memorial tablet’s right there. Can’t remember? I’ll have someone make a photo of her for your bedside.”
“Xi Xingye! You’ve really gone too far. Even if you have issues with them, that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t know my own son’s wedding! How is it proper to keep it from me?”
“You weren’t worried about rumors when you cheated during your marriage. My mother just died, and you brought your mistress and illegitimate child into the house—why weren’t you worried then?” Xi Xingye sneered coldly.
“You! Are you trying to kill me with anger?!”
“Well, if you died, the little flower and wild child would celebrate with fireworks for three days and nights.”
“Xi Xingye! I think you’ve really gone rogue. I—”
The other end kept wailing, and Xi Xingye just rubbed his ears. In one ear, out the other.
“You don’t notify me about your wedding, fine. But now that you’ve married, you’ll bring her to see me tomorrow!”
Xi Xingye chuckled, “Ugly as they come, yet so full of ambition.”
“You’ve always wanted your mother’s keepsakes, haven’t you?”
That one sentence hit Xi Xingye’s nerve.
Xi Zhenghao paused, then said, “Bring your wife back home, and I’ll give you your mother’s keepsakes.”
Xi Xingye sneered and hung up immediately.
He stood there for a moment, stray hair covering his forehead, unreadable expression.
After a while, he returned to the living room, and when he saw the figure on the sofa, his pupils constricted.
Shen Qingci had somehow torn off her top, revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin on her back. The thin black bra straps clung closely, making her skin appear even more delicate.
“Shen! Qing! Ci!” Xi Xingye shouted, his ears turning red. He instinctively turned away, cursing wildly. “You don’t think this will seduce me, do you? I’m telling you—it won’t work! I’m not falling for it!”
He had seen all kinds of women—using such a low-level trick to seduce him?
Naive! So naive!
Shen Qingci held a jar of ointment, reaching back awkwardly, unable to reach the wound properly.
Seeing Xi Xingye standing there, she said, “Instead of chattering away, why don’t you lend a hand?”
At that, Xi Xingye glanced sideways and finally saw the gruesome wound, still bleeding.
His gaze darkened.
Such a serious injury—any normal woman would be crying and panicking, but Shen Qingci showed no reaction at all.
Was she made of iron? Or was she just pretending to be strong in front of him?
Infuriating… even injured, she still had to act tough?
He sighed. Since they were under the same roof, he couldn’t be completely heartless.
Xi Xingye walked behind her.
His long fingers took the cotton swab, and as he leaned forward, her pale skin shone even brighter.
His mind kept repeating: “Form is emptiness, emptiness is form.”
His hands moved faster, but her shoulder twitched slightly.
His breath grew heavier.
Clearing his throat, he said, “So you do feel pain after all?”
“Hurry up,” Shen Qingci replied calmly.
Xi Xingye gritted his teeth, tossing the cotton swab aside, and clumsily grabbed the bandages on both sides. His fingertips brushed against the skin, making his heart skip a beat.
Swallowing, he couldn’t help but recall the kiss in the banquet hall…
Warm… fragrant…
“Done?” Shen Qingci asked, noticing his slowness and turning around.
Xi Xingye’s face was bright red, spreading to his neck. He was staring at her back in a daze.
“Why are you blushing?” she asked.
“Who’s blushing?” Xi Xingye mumbled.
Shen Qingci studied him, narrowing her almond-shaped eyes. “You wouldn’t…”
“Wouldn’t, impossible to like you. Forget it.”
“…Still a virgin, huh?”
“!!!”
“Shen Qingci, shut up!”
Xi Xingye jumped in shock, furious and embarrassed, pointing at her. After a long moment of silence, he finally turned and stormed upstairs.
Watching his retreating back, Shen Qingci paused for two seconds, then laughed.
This young master… really is something, isn’t he?
…
Xi Xingye lay on the bed, scolding Shen Qingci over and over before finally taking a shower.
Even before sleep, he kept muttering curses.
However, soon the surroundings turned bathed in a warm, intimate red glow, the waterbed rippling… He grabbed Shen Qingci’s hands, intertwining their fingers, pinning her down on the bed.
Shen Qingci’s clear eyes were filled with a misty allure, her red lips murmuring softly with his movements.
But his expression suddenly stiffened, stopping abruptly.
Shen Qingci looked down, then up with a smile. “So soon… you’re a virgin, huh?”
…
Xi Xingye bolted upright, sweat on his forehead, staring at the daylight outside the window, eyes closed.
Insane! He was absolutely insane!
This was the first time in his life he had such a dream—and it was with Shen Qingci… and moreover…
It must be the heat.
Yes, too hot.
He threw off the covers to take a cold shower, only to sense something was off.
He froze, slowly looking down.
The entire second floor erupted with a thunderous scream.
“Ah!!!”
Outside, Sister Zhang was hanging clothes, trembling in surprise. “So early… going crazy again, huh?”
“Sister Zhang!” Xi Xingye shouted.
