Night Parade of a Hundred Ghosts
Night Parade of a Hundred Ghosts | Chapter 51 – Four Golden Flower

The five of us went out, found a random restaurant to grab some food, and then headed to the internet café to start gaming. I quickly realized that Dong Yifang and Brother Xiang were like two extremes of the worst players. If noob-level players were ranked like school grades, Brother Xiang would be in first grade, while Dong Yifang might barely make it to second grade.

I won’t go into the details of the games, but playing with Brother Xiang was a surefire way to lose miserably. If managing to surrender at 20 minutes was considered an achievement, then pairing him with Dong Yifang meant we’d be obliterated by the enemy team in just 15 minutes.

Ah, it’s enough to make you cry. For the next two or three days, our routine stayed the same: gaming all day, dozing off in class, and occasionally getting punished for sleeping during lessons.

Then Thursday rolled around. Early in the morning, Dong Yifang showed up at our dorm. You know, gaming really does build friendships fast—it’s not just a saying. In just four days, my relationship with Dong Yifang had improved a lot, and he and Brother Xiang were practically sworn brothers. Although, considering Brother Xiang became blood brothers with Tai Long on their first day of meeting, it wasn’t exactly surprising.

Anyway, by now we were pretty familiar with each other. When Dong Yifang walked in, Brother Xiang immediately asked, “Brother Dong, heading to the internet café again today?”

“Play my ass. The clubs are recruiting members this afternoon. Didn’t you know?” Brother Dong shot him a disdainful look.

“What’s so fun about clubs? Gaming’s way better,” Brother Xiang muttered, shaking his head.

“Do they have a boxing club? Or maybe Taekwondo?” Tai Long perked up with interest, scooting closer.

“Is there a cooking club?” Xiao Pang chimed in eagerly.

“There are definitely martial arts and Taekwondo clubs,” Dong Yifang said with a nod, then broke into a sly grin. “Our club’s recruiting too. It’ll be a great chance to check out some junior girls.”

What followed was a cacophony of four lecherous laughs mixed with Tai Long’s awkward chuckle. While Tai Long had once boldly declared he’d pursue Xia Yumeng, he hadn’t taken any action. Even when faced with beautiful women, he remained oddly calm, making us all suspect if he might have… certain issues.

Since Dong Yifang put it that way, we gave up the idea of going to the internet café. I mean, why stare at a computer screen when you could admire junior girls in person?

That morning, Brother Dong sprawled across Brother Xiang’s bed, and the two of them lay there, hatching plans on how to pick up girls in the afternoon. Meanwhile, I dozed off in the corner.

Finally, at 2 PM, the event began. The main road on campus turned into a chaotic scene of club recruitment.

The larger clubs had set up tents to draw in recruits, while the smaller ones made do with just a table. The place was packed with people. This was probably the first time we’d seen so many students on campus.

Then again, considering we spent all our time holed up in the dorm or sleeping through classes, we’d never properly explored the school. There were still plenty of places I hadn’t even been to yet.

“Xiao Hui, look at that chick! Check out those legs—whoa!” Brother Xiang’s eyes darted around wildly as if he regretted not being born with two extra pairs.

Most people at least try to be subtle when checking someone out, but not Brother Xiang. He was practically glued to those girls, his face almost plastered against their chests.

“Xiang… Brother Xiang, could you, uh, tone it down a bit? You’re scaring me,” Dong Yifang, despite his usual shamelessness, looked genuinely embarrassed walking next to him.

The variety of clubs was overwhelming, with a mix of everything. Even though this was a police academy with fewer girls, the ones here were surprisingly attractive. Club seniors were practically yelling like street vendors, “Hey, junior! What class are you from? Join our club! Don’t leave, junior!”

The whole atmosphere was chaotic, like a bustling marketplace. Soon enough, we ran into Han Sifan, Jin Xishan, Xia Yumeng, and Xi Que—the four beauties. They were all dressed in denim miniskirts and matching red T-shirts, each holding an ice pop.

“Well, well, Brother Xiang, Xiao Hui, you two are here too?” Han Sifan strode over boldly and playfully punched me on the chest. Dong Yifang, as if he’d seen a ghost, stared at us in disbelief. “You guys actually know the Four Golden Flowers of the first years? Damn, why didn’t you say so earlier?!”

Then, as if flipping a switch, he put on a polite smile, turned to Han Sifan, and said, “Hello, Sifan. I’m a third-year senior. It’s a pleasure to meet you. If you need help with your studies, I’d be happy to tutor you.”

Watching Dong Yifang act like this made me nauseous. This guy, who usually carried himself like a greasy old man addicted to gaming, probably couldn’t even recite the multiplication table. And now he was pretending to be some academic genius? I quietly rolled my eyes at him.

“Pfft.” Han Sifan shot him a disdainful look, took a bite of her ice pop, and said, “Cut it out. Birds of a feather flock together. Anyone hanging with Brother Xiang can’t be any good. Move aside.” She shoved Dong Yifang out of the way and strutted off. Jin Xishan, Xia Yumeng, and Xi Que smiled at me politely before following her.

As soon as they left, Dong Yifang looked like he was ready to explode with excitement. He turned to me and shouted, “This is it! That icy, goddess-like vibe—amazing! And you guys know the Four Golden Flowers? Why didn’t you say anything sooner?!”

“What the heck are the Four Golden Flowers? Be clearer, will you?” Brother Xiang said, frowning as if trying to look serious.

“You really don’t know?” Dong Yifang gave us a surprised look and started explaining.

Turns out, Han Sifan and her roommates were super famous at the police academy. Their good looks were a factor, but what really set them apart was an incident last month. A guy had been pursuing Xi Que relentlessly, and Han Sifan wasn’t having any of it. She stormed into his classroom and took down over ten guys who tried to stop her, becoming an overnight sensation.

Keep in mind, this isn’t a normal college—our police academy students go through rigorous physical and martial arts training. Those guys she beat up were second-years who’d been training for a year. They could’ve easily taken down two average college students each, yet Han Sifan floored them all on her own.

With her fiery temper and ruthless methods, you’d think she’d scare off most guys. But no—men are just masochists sometimes. They actually liked her icy demeanor, claiming it was more genuine than the fake cuteness of other girls. Combined with Jin Xishan’s quiet, elegant beauty, Xia Yumeng’s playful charm, and Xi Que’s innocence, their dorm earned the nickname “Four Golden Flowers”—a play on the term police flowers.
