The Pharaoh had a large conference room for the King and ministers to discuss state affairs.
At this time, the King and all the ministers were gathered here. The wizard Xie Lingjiu was also invited to observe. High-ranking military officers were also summoned.
King Louis XIII ordered someone to invite Captain Alpha as well.
Jameson’s mobility was inconvenient, so Lin-dalao attended in his place.
Lin-dalao often represented Jameson on many occasions. In this instance, Lin-dalao was essentially Jameson’s spokesperson.
Such a grand assembly was all because Nicholas Zaizai had appeared on the Pharaoh.
The Captain sat to the King’s right.
Gu Rong, wearing a wig, splendid clothes, and small leather boots, looking dignified and noble despite his tiny size, sat to the King’s left.
Lin-dalao should have been seated with the Captain, but at this moment, he sat beside Gu Rong. Taking advantage when no one was looking, he even patted the cub’s fluffy little head.
Gu Rong tilted his pale little face up, grinning widely at Lin-dalao, appearing very affectionate.
The King’s mind was focused on Zaizai, so he didn’t notice the small interaction between the two.
Soon, he ordered several stokers to be brought up.
Not only was Old John arrested, but the stokers who worked with Old John were also brought along.
Old John vehemently denied finding Zaizai, insisting that Zaizai was his biological grandson and couldn’t possibly be the missing second prince.
The other stokers had a deep friendship with Old John and had watched Zaizai grow up, so they naturally spoke up for Old John.
But while saying this, they all knew in their hearts that Zaizai might really be the second prince, causing such a stir.
They were terrified inwardly but bit down hard and refused to admit it.
However, Zaizai’s appearance was undeniable; no amount of arguing could change that.
Zaizai was born with a look of wealth and nobility – fair-skinned, tender, utterly adorable. How could he possibly be the biological grandson of a lowborn? It was obvious at a glance that he was found.
Fortunately, the stokers had only found Zaizai and weren’t the ones who stole him. They weren’t subjected to harsh interrogation, only taken away for questioning, and suffered no physical abuse.
Upon being brought into the conference room, when the stokers saw the little dumpling sitting next to the King, they almost cried out, the name “Zaizai” nearly slipping out.
But they quickly realized this wasn’t Zaizai, but the Little Prince!
Looking at the Little Prince, who was the spitting image of Zaizai, even if they were unwilling to believe it, they had to accept that Zaizai was the second prince!
They looked exactly alike; you could even say they were the same cub.
Old John looked at Gu Rong, his wrinkle-filled old eyes wide with shock.
He quickly lowered his head, his heart already in turmoil, filled with panic and unease.
A minister from the Execution Faction had been intently staring at the stokers’ expressions. Their momentary shock did not escape his eyes.
The Execution Faction minister smiled without warmth, saying pointedly: “Seeing the Little Prince, are you perhaps very surprised? Does he perhaps look very familiar?”
Although Zaizai’s whereabouts had been traced, none of the royalty or nobility had seen Zaizai yet.
The stokers lowered their heads and remained silent. Old John steadied himself and said, “His Highness the Little Prince is incredibly revered. Everyone in the Starsea Continent knows of him. May I ask, who wouldn’t be surprised upon seeing His Highness the Little Prince? How could we possibly be worthy of seeing His Highness!”
This statement was reasonable and logical, with no flaws to pick at.
The Execution Faction minister snorted.
Gu Rong looked at Grandpa John and the group of uncles kneeling below, his big eyes lighting up, his small expression faintly excited.
Children don’t know how to hide their true emotions. Gu Rong’s eagerness was so apparent that even Old John was surprised, even feeling a trace of closeness, looking at the Little Prince as if looking at Zaizai.
The Execution Faction minister looked at Gu Rong: “Your Highness the Little Prince, why are you so excited to see these lowborn? Could it be that you know them?”
Gu Rong sat on the chair, his short legs unable to touch the ground, just dangling in the air.
No matter how excited Gu Rong appeared, as long as he didn’t admit it verbally, no one could do anything to him. In a tender, childish voice: “Rongrong isn’t Zaizai, how would Rongrong know them?”
The Execution Faction minister didn’t dare to snort this time, but hearing this, he said no more.
Hearing Gu Rong speak, Old John looked up at him again.
He was inwardly shocked; even the voice and tone of speech were exactly the same. It seemed Zaizai was undoubtedly this Little Prince’s twin brother.
They were too similar! He would believe it even if someone said this Little Prince was just Zaizai in different clothes!
Now that Zaizai had been taken away by those two young third-class citizens, he only hoped they would take Zaizai far away, so he wouldn’t be discovered.
But the Pharaoh was only so big; being discovered was only a matter of time. It was impossible to hide forever.
Who knew that just as he thought this, Xiao Lin and two ministers arrived, bringing Zaizai, Zhuang Yu, and Shen Hanxiao with them.
Mu Xingye was also brought along. By now, Mu Xingye had already purchased a potent healing agent from the system store, and his body had recovered about seventy to eighty percent.
However, his previous arrogance was gone. He even kept his distance from “Gu Rong.” But his lowered eyes darted around shiftily, clearly plotting something new.
Seeing Xie Lingjiu, Mu Xingye tried to shrink back into an inconspicuous corner, trying hard to reduce his presence, pretending he didn’t exist.
Xie Lingjiu merely glanced at him expressionlessly before looking away.
At this moment, the one inside “Zaizai’s” shell was still Lord Devil.
Seeing the appearance of “Zaizai,” everyone was greatly shocked.
The cabinet ministers were so agitated that they stood up directly from their chairs.
They looked at “Zaizai,” then back at the Little Prince, growing more astonished the longer they looked.
Except for their different temperaments, they were truly identical!
Captain Alpha’s expression tightened slightly, a sense of worry inevitably rising in his heart.
His favorability towards Zaizai was over 50%. He could see that the current situation was less about recognizing Zaizai and more like an interrogation.
Meanwhile, the five noble ministers Gu Rong had interacted with during his task, whose favorability towards Zaizai had each increased by 10%, were astonished upon seeing “Zaizai.” They found themselves feeling an inexplicable affinity for this second prince, as if meeting an old friend for the first time.
Strange, too strange!
Everyone was greatly surprised, each for their own reasons.
Never mind everyone else being surprised, Gu Rong himself wore a dazed expression on his little face.
Gu Rong blinked his eyes, looking at the “Gu Rong” below. Unaware that Lord Devil was inside the shell, he still thought it was the system controlling it.
The feeling was very strange, facing oneself face-to-face; it couldn’t be weirder.
Lu Li’s expression was arrogant, cold, and cool. Looking at his little follower seated above, he raised an eyebrow.
Then, His gaze shifted to Lin-dalao beside Gu Rong.
Oh, the little follower’s doctor uncle.
Lin-dalao‘s expression remained calm. He sized up Lu Li from top to bottom. This familiar yet exceptionally special aura made a flash of understanding cross his eyes.
Gu Rong tilted his little head, looking at Lu Li below. He seemed completely unfamiliar, almost like looking at a different cub.
006 also sensed something wasn’t quite right. System control would operate based on the little host’s attributes; it would never cause such a drastic change in temperament.
Never mind Gu Rong finding him unfamiliar, even 006 felt this didn’t resemble the little host at all.
Moreover, this “Gu Rong” seemed less like a controlled marionette. Although his expression was cold, he felt like a “living” person.
Gu Rong looked at Lu Li for a while, then shifted his gaze to Zhuang Yu and Shen Hanxiao. His eyes immediately curved into crescents, practically writing “I know them” all over his face.
Shen Hanxiao had also purchased a healing agent and had mostly recovered by now.
He and Zhuang Yu both acted very calmly. Although unsure of the current situation, pretending not to know each other was the right move.
This was their first time seeing the Little Prince, so naturally, they couldn’t possibly know him.
The Earl, who had been knocked out earlier, glared: “It was you! It was you two who knocked me out!”
Although their attire was different, he recognized them at a glance.
Zhuang Yu and Shen Hanxiao remained expressionless, pretending not to understand what he was saying.
The Earl wanted to point them out again, but realizing that no one cared whether he was beaten up and everyone was only concerned about the second prince, he wisely shut his mouth.
Old John looked at Lu Li, his heart filled with suspicion and uncertainty.
Why does the Little Prince sitting up there seem more like the Zaizai he knew? While the Zaizai standing beside him feels strangely unfamiliar?
At this moment, King Louis XIII looked at Lu Li and spoke: “Are you Zaizai?”
Everyone’s gaze fell upon Lu Li.
Gu Rong also watched Lu Li with a blank, cute expression.
Lu Li kept looking at Gu Rong, acting as if he hadn’t heard the King’s question at all, not even acknowledging him.
The ministers murmured amongst themselves.
This second prince, Zaizai, has far too little regard for His Majesty the King.
Just from this one encounter, they could confirm that this Zaizai was indeed a child raised by lowborn. How could he be so disrespectful?
King Louis XIII’s expression, however, remained unchanged. He didn’t stoop to arguing with a two-year-old cub.
He glanced at the Cabinet Minister beside him. The Cabinet Minister immediately understood and spoke on his behalf: “Little Prince Zaizai, may I ask why you impersonated His Highness the Little Prince and attacked the Earl without reason?”
This was spoken very impolitely. If it were the Little Prince, the minister would never dare use such a tone.
But they were experts at adapting to circumstances. Zaizai was raised by lowborns and represented the interests of lowborn.
The Cabinet Minister saw that Lu Li wasn’t speaking, perhaps just disdaining to reply. This little cub looked incredibly arrogant; a two-year-old cub with the presence of someone eight feet tall (2.4m).
The minister paused, then continued: “Little Prince Zaizai, by impersonating His Highness the Little Prince and creating this ‘Real vs Fake Rongrong’ drama, were you instructed by the lowborn? What is your purpose?”
“Are the lowborn planning to harm His Highness the Little Prince? Or perhaps, are they planning to use you to replace His Highness the Little Prince?”
Hearing this, both Zhuang Yu and Shen Hanxiao glared at him several times.
Gu Rong slapped the armrest of his chair with his little hand, huffed, and rolled his eyes disdainfully at the minister.
Minister: “…”
Lu Li let out a short laugh: “Who says I’m Zaizai?”
Everyone: “…?!”
He looks exactly like the Little Prince. How could he not be Zaizai? If not Zaizai, who else could he be…
Wait!
No!!
If he’s not Zaizai, he could still be His Highness the Little Prince!
His Highness the Little Prince had previously spread code phrases and snuck out. Who knew if a switch happened back then?
Identifying the cub solely based on clothes and a wig was clearly inappropriate.
Could Rongrong and Zaizai have switched places without them knowing?!
Not only were the ministers shocked, but King Louis XIII also slightly raised his eyes, clearly realizing this possibility as well.
006 said: [Little host, the little host below isn’t being controlled by the system. The soul inside the shell has been swapped.]
Gu Rong: [Huh? Then who is he?]
006 vaguely felt that Lu Li’s tone, expression, and most importantly, his aura, seemed very familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.
In “The Mental Hospital” instance, Lord Devil had once shared a body with Gu Rong. His tone and expression were exactly the same as now. But 006 only felt a sense of familiarity and couldn’t quite recall it immediately.
Gu Rong hadn’t been able to see his own expressions back then, so he didn’t feel the familiarity, only that the other person didn’t seem like himself.
006 said: [Let me think.]
Old John and the other stokers reacted quickly, immediately jumping on Lu Li’s bandwagon:
“Exactly! We were just saying, maybe it’s a ‘Real vs Fake Zaizai’! It’s not necessarily Zaizai playing the Little Prince. Why not say the Little Prince is impersonating Zaizai?”
“Is the one seated above truly the Little Prince? Is the one standing below truly Zaizai? Who knows if the two cubs haven’t swapped? Perhaps at some unknown point, the two cubs had already exchanged identities.”
A minister, beard bristling, glared: “Silence! What right do you lowborns have to speak here? Would our Highness the Little Prince impersonate your Zaizai?”
The stokers: “Look, look! They weren’t sincere about welcoming Zaizai back. Now it’s ‘our Zaizai’? Drawing the line so clearly!”
Minister: “…Damn deceitful lowborns, stop spouting nonsense!”
Ignoring the clothing, the two cubs looked completely identical, practically the same cub. Now, who could tell which one was Rongrong and which one was Zaizai?
Finally, King Louis XIII made the final decision: “Then, interrogate.”
