Chapter 255
Shuiqing’s family had no strict rules.
At the dinner table, talking was allowed, and they believed that families were most united during meal times!
Taking advantage of this time, they discussed their day’s experiences and planned the activities ahead, which was much easier than trying to gather everyone at a specific time to assign tasks.
Everyone was accustomed to this routine, and by the end of a lively meal, everything that needed to be said was usually covered.
As they cleaned up the dishes, Fan Hu heard the courtyard door clang and hurried to open it. Soon, he returned and called out to Hu Wenhua, “Little uncle, someone’s looking for you!”
Inside the house, no one thought much about it. Since delivering the potatoes, the men from Shanshui Village occasionally came to see Hu Wenhua for a chat, especially after today’s rabbit sale.
Hu Wenhua didn’t think much either. He placed the dishes in the kitchen, washed his hands with a ladle of water, and walked out.
When he reached the courtyard gate, he saw a woman’s figure with her back to him in the distance. Hu Wenhua, with his robust physique, stopped in his tracks.
He glanced around left and right, found no one else, and firmly planted his feet without taking another step forward. Instead, he called out, “Is it you looking for me? What is it?”
Did he know her?
And who waits for someone with their back to them?
Zhang Chunhua deliberately stood far away from the house. She was waiting for Hu Wenhua to come over and have a quiet chat.
But she didn’t expect him to stand there shouting loudly from the doorway!
She stomped her foot in frustration, turned around, pouted, and said, “You come over here, and I’ll tell you!”
Hu Wenhua shouted without thinking, “I’m not coming over! If you have something to say, come over here.”
At the edge of this piece of wood, there were thorns everywhere. Even the young children of Shanshui Village had deliberately greeted her. As a result, Zhang Chunhua stood on the edge and called him over!
Was she forgetful or trying to trick him?
Inside the courtyard, the people who heard Hu Wenhua’s voice looked at Fan Hu in surprise, “Who’s here? Why is your little uncle speaking so loudly?”
Even in Shanshui Village, there were no deaf people.
Fan Hu didn’t lift his head, “Zhang Chunhua.”
Jaws dropped to the ground in shock.
Shuiqing: …Why didn’t you say so earlier!
Zhang Chunhua flushed red with anger. Just as she was about to say something, she remembered the dangers here before, startled, and jumped up. She hurried over to Hu Wenhua’s side.
How could she forget this danger!
She walked up to Hu Wenhua, her hands on the hair hanging at her neck, fumbling around in circles, and bowed her head shyly and timidly, saying, “Thank you for the reminder.”
After waiting for half a day without hearing the next sentence, this girl was a little abnormal, and Hu Wenhua involuntarily stepped back.
“Do you have anything?”
Zhang Chunhua felt that this was different from what she had expected. She raised her head dumbly and said, “Nothing, I just heard that you led the villagers to sell rabbits and earn money, and I think you’re amazing…”
Hu Wenhua stepped back again, his back almost against the door panel.
The Zhang bald family did not raise rabbits, let alone sell them. Her family didn’t make any money, so why did she come over here to praise him?
Moreover, selling rabbits to make money was mainly due to the villagers’ diligence in cutting grass, raising rabbits, and cleaning rabbit nests. Did she need to come over specially to say how amazing he was?
Was she ridiculing him?
“Is that all?”
Zhang Chunhua was stunned. Unable to feign shyness with her head bowed, she stared blankly at him!
This man’s physique was as strong as a bear blind, and his brain was as blind as a bear. He didn’t understand anything about romance.
Biting her lip, Zhang Chunhua held back her anger. She said in a soft voice, “Brother Wenhua, don’t think you’re lucky, and don’t think you don’t deserve this money. In my heart, you’re really amazing.”
Hu Wenhua remembered the cold and cold times. When he wore little, chicken skin rashes on his arms would appear. Now, although it was hot, the autumn tiger was very powerful. Was he chicken skin rashes all over his arms?
More than cold weather wear wet clothes!
The group led by Shuiqing, just a door away, heard these words and felt goosebumps all over their bodies!
They feared being discovered, so hiding was tough.
Qin Yilin’s eyes widened, and Hu’s mother shook her head repeatedly.
Hu Wenhua took a deep breath and said slowly, “I don’t think I don’t deserve it. You can go back now. It’s not good for people to see.”
Hu’s mother nodded as she listened.
Qing’er is right; boys should also remember to protect themselves outside.
A girl’s reputation is important. If Zhang Chunhua and Wen Hua are seen privately, it’s not good for Zhang Chunhua’s reputation. If people spread rumors and delay the girl, who will be responsible?
After hearing Hu Wenhua’s words, Zhang Chunhua’s eyes suddenly filled with tears. She looked up stubbornly, refusing to let the tears fall, and asked, “So should I go?”
Hu Wenhua nodded, never before had he been so quick!
He couldn’t understand why Zhang Chunhua would come specially to see him, since they had almost no interaction except when they were building the wall. He wouldn’t flatter himself into thinking Zhang Chunhua liked him.
After all, from childhood to adulthood, because of his overly robust physique and rugged appearance, he was fortunate if young girls didn’t cry upon seeing him. How could anyone like him?
When Zhang Chunhua saw him, like other girls before her, she was tense all over, trembling, and dared not look around. Clearly terrified, why did she still come over to court trouble?
Zhang Chunhua gritted her teeth and lowered her head.
She didn’t like Hu Wenhua. Any girl would not like the big, scary-looking Hu Wenhua. Compared to him, she preferred the polite and gentle Fan Dazhu.
But Hu Wenhua had skills to earn money, savings to afford a betrothal gift, and a formidable sister-in-law’s subsidy. Now there was another source of income. Marrying such a person wouldn’t be unfair to her.
But his awkward appearance aside, his brain was even more straightforward!
The moment she turned around, she saw many people coming together in the distance. A thought flashed through her mind, she steeled herself, and swiftly threw herself towards Hu Wenhua’s side.
“Ah~”
Shuiqing, who was peeking through the crack in the door, was also startled and quickly opened the courtyard gate.
Hu Wenhua was greatly startled. Instead of catching her, he instinctively moved aside.
The sudden opening of the gate caused Hu Wenhua to lose his balance and fall backward. However, being skilled in martial arts, despite his large stature, he was exceptionally agile and managed to stabilize himself after retreating just two steps.
But Zhang Chunhua didn’t fare as well. She had clearly aimed to throw herself at Hu Wenhua, but with the gate opening, Hu Wenhua stepped back inside, leaving her unsupported!
“Ah!” This time, a genuine cry of pain.
Shuiqing heard the solid sound of flesh and stone tiles colliding and shuddered.
It must have hurt a lot!
She could clearly see from the crack in the door that Hu Wenhua was not a handsome man. Did Zhang Chunhua really need to try so hard?
Outside, chaotic footsteps were heard, and everyone in the courtyard looked up simultaneously.
