Synopsis:
Everyone in the world knew that Shen Xingwan, the legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister, was the white moonlight that the Regent Prince, Yan Jinghuan, had long yearned for.
Shen Xingwan knew it too—but she was unwilling to marry such a ruthless and silent man.
She rejected Yan Jinghuan’s confession and accepted the imperial decree of marriage that the Third Prince had risked his life to obtain.
When their love was at its peak, the Third Prince promised her:
“The day I ascend the throne will be the day you become my empress.”
Shen Xingwan was moved. She mobilized the power of her entire clan to support him in taking the throne.
However, she never got to wear the phoenix crown and ceremonial robe.
On the day of his enthronement and grand wedding, the newly crowned emperor turned away and married his childhood sweetheart instead.
With his own mouth, he ordered the massacre of her entire clan, exterminating nine generations of her family—leading her to die consumed by hatred.
After being reborn, she returned to the day of the imperial decree and firmly refused to accept it.
The head eunuch flew into a rage and stormed back to the palace.
Everyone in the Shen household was on edge, fearing an impending disaster.
Without hesitation, Shen Xingwan mounted a horse, cracked the whip, and rode at full speed to the Regent Prince’s manor.
She knocked on the door and sought out the man who held power over the entire court.
She timidly tugged on Yan Jinghuan’s sleeve and said:
“Um… back then, you said you wanted to marry me. Does that offer still stand?”
Later on, the remaining cronies of the Third Prince fled in defeat and came crying before the Regent Prince:
“She’s beating people to death! Are you seriously not going to stop her?!”
Yan Jinghuan gave a light laugh:
“Did she kill them? If she didn’t, call me when she does—I’ll finish the job.”
