“On the Day of My Blind Date, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Wealthy Heir” Chapter 14

Chapter 14: One Million, or One Hundred Million?

If Lin Yuan hadn’t been clinging to him, whining that she had an interview the next day, Sheng Xiao might have tormented her all night.

“Interview?”

Afterwards, Lin Yuan lay in Sheng Xiao’s arms, her forehead damp with sweat.

“Yes, when I was still at the Lin family, I thought Lin Zhenghai would at least consider me his daughter and let me join Lin’s company. But now I see it clearly.”

“I was just a tool for him to make money. Now that my dream is shattered, he probably wants to throw me away.”

She had to be self-reliant!

Lin Yuan snuggled closer to Sheng Xiao, “Besides, we need money for our daily expenses. We should save some money while we’re young. When we have a baby, we’ll need even more money.”

She didn’t think anything was wrong with what she said, but Sheng Xiao was stunned.

Baby?

He had a playful smile on his face. “You want to have a baby with me?”

Lin Yuan realized what she had said.

In just a few days, she seemed to have become incredibly trusting of Sheng Xiao.

She had even thought about something so far in the future!

She blushed and buried her head in the pillow. “I was just saying.”

Sheng Xiao: “Do you regret marrying me? I can’t give you a wealthy life.”

Lin Yuan thought for a moment and shook her head. “No regrets. I’ve never been in love before, and I don’t know what it’s like to be with a partner. But being with you, I feel safe and secure.”

Sheng Xiao’s eyebrows twitched, and a flicker of guilt flashed in his eyes, but he didn’t dare look at Lin Yuan.

He wanted to say something else, but when he looked down, he saw that Lin Yuan was already asleep beside him.

Perhaps she was too exhausted from his torment, she slept peacefully.

Sheng Xiao turned sideways to look at her.

When she was awake and angry, she was like a wild cat with its fur on end. When she was being affectionate, she was like a cunning little fox. And now, asleep, she was like a docile little rabbit.

Each side was a vibrant Lin Yuan.

This vibrancy made her seem incredibly real.

And in Sheng Xiao’s world, reality was rarer and more precious than anything else.

So, this reality of Lin Yuan had an irreversible attraction to him.

It drew him in and made him sink deeper.

He bent down slightly, leaning closer to her, kissing her cheek and lips, then pulling her into his arms, holding her close.

The moonlight streamed through the clouds outside, flooding into the room. The soft light fell on the bed, adding a touch of serenity to the two people who were clinging to each other.

Early the next morning, Lin Yuan was woken up by her alarm clock.

She mumbled and groaned, feeling like she hadn’t slept enough when the sun came up.

She raised her hand and waved it around in the air, and when she lowered it, she accidentally hit something hard.

She reacted, her eyes snapping open, and then she sat up, seeing Sheng Xiao beside her, staring at her intently.

“Good morning, Yuan.” He propped his head on his hand, leaning sideways, his eyes lingering on Yuan’s face.

Lin Yuan saw what was below his waist and quickly covered her eyes. “Sheng Xiao, you’re being a pervert in the morning!”

Didn’t that thing ever get tired?

They had worked late last night, and now he was up early!

Sheng Xiao chuckled, “You silly goose, this is a daily ritual.”

“What kind of ritual???”

“The flag-raising ceremony!”

Lin Yuan: “…”

She had never been so speechless in her life.

Now she was completely awake. She grabbed a jacket and was about to get out of bed, but Sheng Xiao pulled her back into his arms, holding her close and kissing her for a while before letting her go.

Lin Yuan glared at him angrily and quickly got dressed and went out.

Before leaving, she didn’t forget to tell him, “There’s breakfast in the kitchen. Remember to eat before you go to the construction site.”

The man rubbed against her, asking for a goodbye kiss before reluctantly letting her leave.

As soon as Lin Yuan left, Sheng Xiao turned around, went downstairs, and got into a silver-gray Maybach. The car drove in the opposite direction.

In the car, Assistant Zuo Chuan handed him some documents from the passenger seat. “Third Master, these are urgent documents that need your review and signature.”

While Sheng Xiao was signing, Zuo Chuan gave a verbal report. “The Chunshui project is also being contacted by the Second Branch. Many people in the group have sided with the Second Branch because of the situation.”

Sheng Yehong, Sheng Xiao’s second uncle and the head of the Second Branch of the Sheng family, had been trying to win over people while Sheng Xiao was away from Beijing. He seemed ready to take over Sheng Xiao’s position at any time.

Sheng Xiao didn’t show much emotion when he heard this. He finished signing the documents in his hand and handed them back to Zuo Chuan. “The Chunshui project was meant for him anyway. Just do some surface work, don’t stop him from reaching a deal.”

Zuo Chuan: “Understood.”

“As for those fence-sitters in the group, keep them for now, they’ll be useful later.”

Zuo Chuan agreed to everything. He wanted to ask when Third Master would return to Beijing, but seeing the ice-cold expression of the man, he swallowed the words that were already at his throat.

Sheng Xiao paused and suddenly said, “Get me a salary card, deposit money into it on a fixed schedule every month.”

Zuo Chuan was puzzled. “Okay, who should the card be given to?”

“To me.”

Zuo Chuan choked. What was this all about?

He thought that Third Master might need to entertain someone in Yancheng, so he tentatively asked, “One million every month?”

Sheng Xiao frowned and glanced at him. Zuo Chuan’s neck felt cold. “One million? Or one hundred million?”

To be honest, Third Master didn’t really need to give gifts to anyone. Wherever he went, people would fawn over him and offer him money. When did he need so much money?

Sheng Xiao was impatient. “Ten thousand!”

What?

Ten thousand?

Not even enough for Third Master to have a meal!

But the order was given, and he didn’t dare disobey or question it, so he nodded and agreed.

But he muttered to himself, Third Master has been acting strange in Yancheng this year.

Ten thousand yuan, not even enough to entertain, or even to buy a good bag for a woman!

He had always thought that Third Master was unwilling to return to Beijing because he had a woman there he couldn’t bear to leave, but now it seemed impossible.

Ten thousand yuan a month, what kind of girl could that keep?

The girl he thought was impossible was sitting in a design company in Yancheng, nervously clutching her bag for an interview.

Across from her was a round, bespectacled woman. She looked back and forth between the resume and Lin Yuan, and after a long silence, she pushed her black-rimmed glasses down her nose. “Fresh graduate?”

Lin Yuan nodded.

“Married?”

“Yes.”

“Can you accept overtime?”

Lin Yuan thought for a moment and nodded.

The woman asked a few more design-related questions, then collected the resume. “Wait for the notice.”

As Lin Yuan walked out of the building, her nervousness hadn’t subsided. Ary was the most famous design company in Yancheng. She had come with the attitude of just trying. Thinking of the interviewer’s cold attitude, it was like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her head on a scorching summer day, making her feel completely chilled…
