Chapter 32: Do you want to join Shengshi?
When Lin Yuan returned home that evening, Sheng Xiao was already there.
Usually, Sheng Xiao worked late, and Lin Yuan would get home first to cook and tidy up before he came back. Why was he so early today?
Sheng Xiao was sitting on the couch watching TV, the screen displaying financial news.
Strangely, Lin Yuan felt that Sheng Xiao seemed to have no other hobbies. Whenever he had free time, he would watch domestic and international financial news on TV. She wondered, could Sheng Xiao understand it?
Maybe he was interested in the financial market?
“Sheng Xiao, you’re back so early today?” she greeted him while changing her shoes.
Sheng Xiao got up, walked over to her, put his arm around her waist, and kissed her. “I quit.”
Lin Yuan was startled. “Sheng Xiao, did you get bullied at the construction site?”
Although she didn’t know the specifics of his work, she knew that kind of manual labor was prone to scolding. Sheng Xiao’s personality wasn’t one for sweet talk, and he didn’t seem like someone who would flatter others. Lin Yuan was afraid that he had gotten into an argument with someone, or his supervisor.
She was worried that they might be giving him a hard time.
Her face was full of concern, and a warm current flowed through Sheng Xiao’s heart.
He didn’t expect that, given their current living situation, Sheng Xiao’s monthly salary of 10,000 yuan was their main source of income. This sudden resignation meant that this 10,000 yuan was gone.
But Lin Yuan’s first reaction wasn’t to blame him, but to worry if he had been wronged!
He pulled her onto the couch. “No, it’s just too tiring. I don’t want to do it anymore.”
Lin Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. “Yeah, construction work is really tiring. I actually don’t want you to work so hard.”
As long as he didn’t have any conflict with others.
Sheng Xiao pinched her cheek. “Aren’t you worried about being poor with me?”
Lin Yuan shook her head. “You’re too tired. You can rest for a few days and then find a job. My job at Ary is pretty good, the salary is enough for us to live on.”
She then leaned closer to Sheng Xiao with a mischievous expression. “Don’t worry, I actually have some savings, just in case.”
“I’ll find a job as soon as possible.”
Lin Yuan played with his hand. “I see you watch financial news a lot. Do you want to do something related to that? I can help you submit your resume online.”
In her mind, Sheng Xiao might not be familiar with computers, and things like resumes were complex and detailed. She was afraid that if she asked him to do it directly, he might not know how to do it and it would hurt his pride.
Sheng Xiao looked at her. “Let me use your computer. I’ll look at it online myself.”
He directly opened the website of Shengshi Group’s Yancheng branch. Lin Yuan looked at him in surprise. “You want to join Shengshi?”
That was a place Lin Yuan wouldn’t even dare to dream of.
Sheng Xiao turned to look at her. “Do you want to join too?”
Lin Yuan shook her head like a rattle. “I wouldn’t dare. I’m already grateful for being able to join Ary. Shengshi is out of my league.”
Shengshi, whether in Beijing or Yancheng, was undoubtedly a leading enterprise.
It was said that Shengshi employees were all well-rounded individuals, even the receptionists could discuss cross-border cooperation. Lin Yuan, as a fresh graduate, viewed Shengshi as an insurmountable peak.
Sheng Xiao chuckled at her words. “So, Shengshi holds such a high position in your heart?”
“Of course.” Her face was full of admiration and respect. Sheng Xiao was particularly pleased. He didn’t expect this woman to have such a high opinion of him.
“Then do you know who’s in charge of Shengshi?”
Lin Yuan leaned against him. “That’s no secret, of course I know. It’s Mr. Sheng, the third son. I just don’t know his real name. Shengshi keeps his identity very private, even his photo is nowhere to be found.”
Mr. Sheng himself was very secretive, never appearing in public. Even at major private events, cameras were not allowed. Therefore, even though Mr. Sheng had been in charge of Shengshi for so many years, the outside world still didn’t know what he looked like.
Sheng Xiao: “Curious?”
Lin Yuan shook her head. “Not at all. People of that status and position will never have anything to do with us ordinary people in our lifetime.”
Sheng Xiao tightened his grip. How should he tell her the truth?
To tell her directly, “The person you think you’ll never have anything to do with, not only has something to do with you, but is also intertwined with you?”
No!
Lin Yuan wasn’t the kind of girl who was greedy for fame and fortune. Telling her directly might scare her, not to mention it could backfire.
He’d wait, for the right time.
The next morning, when Lin Yuan woke up, Sheng Xiao was already dressed and ready to go out.
She looked at the man in his suit, his hair neatly combed, a stark contrast to his usual work attire. “Sheng Xiao, you look so handsome in a suit.”
She was practically starry-eyed.
Sheng Xiao lowered his head and kissed her lips. “When am I not handsome?”
Lin Yuan really thought about it for a moment. It seemed like Sheng Xiao was handsome from every angle, even when he was naked in bed…
She thought of some inappropriate images and her ears turned red. She quickly turned and walked towards the kitchen. “You’re always handsome.”
Sheng Xiao chuckled behind her and pulled her back into his arms. “You tie my tie.”
Lin Yuan turned around and took the tie, carefully tying a Windsor knot for him.
Sheng Xiao was surprised. Her skillful movements were as if she had done this a thousand times before. His eyes darkened, and he grabbed her hand. “Have you tied ties for others before?”
Lin Yuan laughed bitterly. “No.”
In the past, she had wanted to please Lin Zhenghai, so she secretly learned many skills. Later, she realized that these skills were useless, and tying a tie was one of them.
Sheng Xiao seemed to think of something and hugged her. He rubbed her hair. “An Baoer, you can only tie ties for me from now on. No one else is worthy.”
Lin Yuan laughed. “Aren’t you going for an interview? Let’s go, don’t be late.”
Sheng Xiao opened the door. Lin Yuan called out to him again. “Sheng Xiao, you’re the best, good luck!”
“Okay.”
He was already downstairs, but Lin Yuan realized that he had left his resume on the table. She quickly put on a jacket and ran downstairs to chase after him.
When she got downstairs, she saw Sheng Xiao getting into a black luxury car. She couldn’t believe it. Before she could approach, the car sped off.
Lin Yuan thought of something and ran back upstairs to send Sheng Xiao a message.
【Sheng Xiao, you forgot your resume.】
She didn’t say anything else.
Sheng Xiao replied quickly.
【I have an electronic version.】
Then he added another sentence.
【I called a car this morning, I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough time, so I just went downstairs directly.】
Lin Yuan smiled. So he had taken a ride.
She was overthinking things…
