Chapter 59: Happy Birthday, Lin Yuan
After fixing the car, Sheng Xiao suggested they eat out for dinner.
Lin Yuan wasn’t in a great mood, so she agreed.
Little did she know, this dinner would lift her spirits.
After dinner, the waiter brought them a mysterious box for a raffle, saying that customers who spent a certain amount could participate in the store’s raffle.
Lin Yuan didn’t have much hope, but Sheng Xiao raised his chin and motioned for her to try. With the waiter’s guidance and Sheng Xiao’s encouragement, she finally drew a card.
The waiter was first incredulous, then asked them to wait.
Soon, the manager was brought over. “Miss, what’s your last name?”
Although confused, Lin Yuan politely replied, “Lin.”
“Ms. Lin, congratulations to both of you, you won our store’s grand prize!” The manager’s expression was exaggerated. Sheng Xiao glanced at him subtly, and he toned it down slightly. “Please come with me.”
Lin Yuan didn’t know what the grand prize was, but judging from the manager’s expression, she guessed it was something extraordinary.
Sheng Xiao stood up, took Lin Yuan’s hand, and followed the manager to a private room on the second floor.
“Ms. Lin, you are so lucky. Our store’s grand prize only comes up once every five years, and it was won by your lucky hands!”
A crease appeared between Sheng Xiao’s eyebrows. How did Zuo Chuan do this? This manager was both verbose and dramatic.
If his wife wasn’t so innocent, this performance would have been exposed!
Hearing this, Lin Yuan’s face lit up with excitement. “What is the grand prize?”
“Congratulations, Ms. Lin, the grand prize, I’ll tell you, it’s guaranteed to…”
“Can you just say it?” Sheng Xiao interrupted him coldly.
The manager’s neck shrank, and he smiled apologetically. “Sir, you’re in a hurry. I’ll just get to the point.”
Sheng Xiao: “…”
Lin Yuan knew Sheng Xiao didn’t have much patience. She squeezed his hand with her slender fingers, a gesture of reassurance.
The manager finally revealed the answer. “It’s a Mercedes-Benz sedan worth over 600,000 yuan. Congratulations!”
Lin Yuan doubted she had heard correctly. She looked at Sheng Xiao. “Sheng Xiao, what did he say? What did we win?”
Sheng Xiao was satisfied with her reaction. If it weren’t for this verbose manager, he would have been more confident about this arrangement. He put his arm around Lin Yuan’s waist and pulled her closer. “You heard right, it’s a Mercedes-Benz.”
He wanted to give his wife a better car, but that would be too obvious and might arouse her suspicions. He could only choose the most basic and cheapest Mercedes-Benz. Even so, Lin Yuan reacted as if she had won an incredible prize.
The manager wanted to say something else, but Sheng Xiao gave him a look, and he stood up straight. “Miss, you can use this voucher to pick up the car directly at the 4S store. Congratulations again.”
Sheng Xiao took the voucher from him and led Lin Yuan out. Even after they left the restaurant, Lin Yuan still couldn’t believe it.
She won!
She hugged Sheng Xiao’s neck, her hands waving excitedly. “Sheng Xiao, we won! A Mercedes! My goodness, it’s a Mercedes!”
What kind of luck was this? They won a luxury car just by having dinner.
Sheng Xiao put his arm around her waist and spun her around. “Happy?”
“Happy, of course I’m happy. Sheng Xiao, are you a lucky charm for wives? Since we got married, I feel like my luck has been amazing.”
The man raised an eyebrow smugly. “Maybe. So you have to hold onto me tightly, don’t let anyone steal you away.”
Lin Yuan was completely immersed in the joy of winning the grand prize. The manager had also said that if they didn’t want the car, they could exchange it for cash, which was 600,000 yuan.
She thought about it and decided to just take the car.
Sheng Xiao worked at Shengshi, and he needed a decent car. This free Mercedes-Benz was perfect for him.
“An Baoer, what do you want to do for your birthday?”
Sheng Xiao asked Zuo Chuan. How could he make the girl happy on her birthday?
Zuo Chuan was a single pringle, so he didn’t understand these things. But since the Third Master asked, he tried to come up with some ideas.
For example, give her a house, give her a car, give her flowers.
But given the Third Master’s current identity, giving her a house or a car was unrealistic, so he suggested the Third Master give his wife flowers.
Sheng Xiao thought he was asking for too much. Looking at his silly face, he wasn’t someone who could coax a woman.
So he simply asked Lin Yuan directly.
Whatever she wanted, he could make it happen.
Lin Yuan seemed to think about it seriously. “I haven’t really celebrated my birthday seriously. When I was little, Lin Zhenghai never remembered my birthday. After I went to school and met Yaoyao, we celebrated together every year. We just had dinner together.”
Sheng Xiao felt a pang of heartache. If he had met his An Baoer earlier, he would have given her a happy childhood.
Childhood?
That night, Sheng Xiao didn’t say anything. The next morning, Lin Yuan woke up to find he wasn’t in bed.
Shouldn’t he be resting today? It was the weekend.
Lin Yuan remembered that it was her birthday today, and Sheng Xiao knew it yesterday. Although she said she didn’t want to celebrate, he wasn’t home early in the morning, and a sense of disappointment welled up inside her.
The living room was empty. Was Sheng Xiao really not home?
Lin Yuan was about to go get a glass of warm water when her phone rang.
Sheng Xiao’s call?
She answered. “An Baoer, go to the window.”
Lin Yuan thought about it and ran to the window barefoot. Sheng Xiao was wearing a white shirt and black trousers, holding a large bouquet of bright red roses, leaning against a brand new black Mercedes-Benz, looking up at her.
Her disappointment vanished instantly.
Lin Yuan.
You’re so easily satisfied.
“Sheng Xiao, what are you doing?”
The two looked at each other. Sheng Xiao’s voice was pleasant. “An Baoer, go change and come downstairs. I’m waiting for you downstairs.”
Although Lin Yuan didn’t know what Sheng Xiao was up to, she was willing to trust him, follow him, and do as he said.
She didn’t know if it was because she lacked male affection in her childhood, or because she had complete trust in Sheng Xiao, but whenever he said something, she would do it without hesitation.
The wind outside blew in, and Lin Yuan ran to the bedroom. The wind blew her hair across her face and made her smile even brighter.
To match Sheng Xiao, she put on a white blouse and a black skirt. She skipped downstairs and rushed into Sheng Xiao’s arms. “Happy birthday, An Baoer.”
Lin Yuan kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Sheng Xiao.”
Sheng Xiao gave her the flowers. “Get in the car.”
The roses were too big and blocked Lin Yuan’s face. Sheng Xiao put the flowers in the back seat and handed her breakfast. “Sit tight, Mrs. Sheng. We’re leaving.”
