On the Day She Discovered She Was Pregnant, She Personally Signed the Divorce Agreement Chapter 4

Chapter 4: It Was All a Marriage Scam

Fu Yanci held Shen Shuli tightly in his arms, whispering softly, “Darling, I know I was wrong. Whatever I did, I apologize. Please forgive me, okay?”

Shen Shuli turned her head away. In the past, whenever he did something that upset her, he would immediately lower his head and apologize, and she would give him an easy way out. Their arguments had always been resolved before the day ended—never left to fester overnight.

But today, he had betrayed her. From the very beginning, it had all been a marriage scam!

“Fu Yanci,” Shen Shuli enunciated each word coldly, “I will never forgive you. I want a divorce!”

“Darling…”

A turbulent darkness churned in Fu Yanci’s eyes. His Adam’s apple bobbed heavily, as though countless words were lodged in his throat, yet he didn’t know where to begin.

Just then, his phone rang. As if seizing an escape, he quickly stood up and stepped aside to answer the call.

“What is it?”

“Yan Ci, Duo Duo has a fever. I gave him some fever-reducing medicine, but his temperature isn’t going down. What should I do? Can you take him to the hospital?”

“Understood. I’ll be there soon.”

Fu Yanci hung up, his expression conflicted as he struggled to find the right words.

“Darling, there’s something urgent I need to handle. I’ll come back soon. Wait for me, okay?”

Shen Shuli’s gaze dimmed. She turned her back to him. “Don’t bother coming back. Just crawl back to your Golden River Bay. I don’t want to see you!”

Fu Yanci fell silent for a long moment. In the end, he said nothing and chose to leave.

The sound of the door closing echoed in Shen Shuli’s heart like a missing piece had been torn away. Though she hadn’t heard the call, she could guess—it must have been that woman reaching out to him!

Even after she lashed out at him in anger, he still walked away without looking back.

Her eyes burned red, but she stubbornly held back her tears. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined that the person who would plunge a knife deep into her heart would be Fu Yanci—the man she had trusted wholeheartedly and loved for ten years!

When she woke up the next morning, she instinctively glanced at the empty space beside her, her lips curling in bitter mockery.

So much for coming back.

What a liar.

Unmoved, she mechanically went about her routine and headed to the law firm.

Meanwhile, after a sleepless night, Fu Yanci rushed to the villa in the southern suburbs, only to find that Shen Shuli had long since left.

He returned to the company in frustration, too agitated to feel any exhaustion.

Xu Zhun walked in carrying a package. “President Fu, there’s a delivery for you.”

Leaning back in his executive chair, Fu Yanci rubbed his temples wearily. “Leave it there.”

Xu Zhun placed the package on the desk and glanced at the sender’s note. “President Fu, it says—’Regarding Madam.'”

Fu Yanci snapped to attention, loosening his tie. “Open it. Let’s see what it is.”

Xu Zhun picked up a pair of scissors and sliced open the package, emptying its contents. “President Fu, it’s a stack of photos.”

A deep frown creased Fu Yanci’s brow as he skeptically took the white envelope containing the photos. When he opened it, his expression darkened—every single picture showed Shen Shuli in compromising positions with another man!

He scrutinized each one carefully. In the earlier shots, the man’s face wasn’t clearly visible, but in the very last photo, the man turned around—revealing his identity unmistakably.

“Mu Huaixu? How is it him?!”

Could it be that Shen Shuli wanted a divorce because of Mu Huaixu?

“Check these photos—are they digitally altered or not?”

Xu Zhun left with the photos and soon returned. “President Fu, they’re not altered. There are no signs of Photoshop.”

Fu Yanci slammed his palm onto the table with force, his eyes burning with a fury that seemed capable of destroying the world. He gritted his teeth, grinding out the name.

“Mu Huaixu! Three years, and you still refuse to give up!”

Xu Zhun stood nearby and asked at just the right moment, “President Fu, do you want his complete profile?”

“Investigate everything—inside and out!”

Fu Yanci’s sinister eyes gleamed coldly as he snatched the documents from the desk and hurled them to the ground, sending papers flying everywhere.

Meanwhile, Shen Shuli was at the law firm discussing business with Mu Huaixu.

Mu Huaixu handed her a file containing detailed materials for the case he was handling.

Shen Shuli flipped through the pages meticulously, not missing a single detail, and smiled helplessly. “You’ve prepared everything so thoroughly—I could just coast through this.”

Mu Huaixu leaned back slightly, studying her from head to toe. “What are the chances of winning?”

Shen Shuli gave a wry smile. “With how detailed your preparations are, as long as I’m not an idiot, we’re definitely winning. I almost feel guilty taking your legal fees.”

Fu Yanci crossed his legs casually, exuding a lazy yet predatory pressure. “Then do your best. If you win this case, I’ll hand over Mu Corporation’s legal representation to your firm this year.”

Shen Shuli was overjoyed. “Really? Old classmate, you’re spoiling me!”

Mu Huaixu’s gaze softened as he looked at her with affection. “You said it yourself—old classmates. Who else should I take care of if not you?”

Shen Shuli’s eyes curved into crescents, but before she could respond, her phone on the table dinged.

It was the notification sound for Fu Yanci’s WeChat Moments updates. She had set him as a special contact, so her phone alerted her whenever he posted—though he rarely did, even once a year.

Instinctively, she opened it.

Shi Yi stared tearfully at the camera, looking as if he had suffered the greatest injustice.

Fu Yanci had captioned it: “Shi Yi misses his mom.”

Bai Jinghong had even liked the post.

Shen Shuli’s heart ached unbearably. Fu Yanci knew her too well—her weakness was Shi Yi, and he was using the dog to pressure her into returning.

She steeled herself and turned off her phone.

“Old classmate, let’s continue.”

Mu Huaixu noticed the shift in her mood and probed gently, “Did you argue with him?”

“Not an argument—a divorce. We’re negotiating the details of the settlement.”

Her eyes dimmed slightly, unwilling to dwell on the topic.

Mu Huaixu studied her skeptically. He didn’t believe a man like Fu Yanci would agree to a divorce so easily.

“You haven’t told him about the pregnancy?”

Shen Shuli averted her gaze. “No. So keep it a secret—I don’t want him to know.”

Fu Yanci never wanted children. If he found out, he might pressure her into an abortion, which would only make things worse—even if she hadn’t planned to keep this baby to begin with.

Just then, her phone dinged again. Another post so soon?

She opened it and saw a photo of Shi Yi hooked up to an IV, his tiny body lying pitifully with tubes attached.

Fu Yanci had added another caption: “Shi Yi got sick from missing his mom. He asked me if Mommy could come pick him up.”

Bastard!

How on earth did Fu Yanci take care of Shi Yi? She had only been gone for a day, and he already let Shi Yi fall sick!

Did he even care about Shi Yi at all?

At that moment, Bai Jinghong liked another post.

She had liked both posts so quickly.

Shen Shuli opened Bai Jinghong’s social media feed. She rarely browsed it, so she had no idea what Bai Jinghong had previously posted.

The first post was a photo of Bai Jinghong wearing a pink diamond necklace, captioned: *A gift from someone important.*

Beneath it were countless likes and comments, all asking who this important person was—was she about to announce a relationship?

She hadn’t replied to any of them.

Shen Shuli zoomed in on the photo and showed it to Mu Huaixu. “You mentioned last time that Fu Yanci bought a pink diamond necklace. Is this the one?”

Mu Huaixu leaned in for a closer look. “Looks similar. Who is this woman? Fu Yanci’s sister?”

Shen Shuli was stunned. “She’s Bai Jinghong, the triple-crown actress. You don’t know her?”

Mu Huaixu shook his head indifferently. “I don’t watch many dramas. I’m not familiar with women in the entertainment industry.”

Shen Shuli’s expression darkened to the extreme. She checked the post’s timestamp—it was the very day Fu Yanci returned to the country. So, the blurred-out man in the news reports was none other than that bastard Fu Yanci!
