Chapter 7: Hitting My Man in Front of Me Is Like Slapping My Face
Li Xu cautiously observed, “President Mu, it seems President Fu won’t let go easily. In this relationship, he’s the one deeply immersed, unable to extricate himself.”
Mu Huaixu’s expression instantly darkened, a cold glint flashing in the depths of his shadowed eyes.
Li Xu carefully continued, “Actually, I don’t understand Miss Shen either. In terms of family background, wealth, and appearance, you surpass President Fu in every way. Why would she choose someone like him instead of you? He’s simply unworthy of Miss Shen.”
Mu Huaixu withdrew his gaze and turned to leave, the thoughts concealed in his eyes indecipherable to anyone. “Let’s go.”
Fu Yanci drove her to the Fu residence, stealing glances at her delicate face as he drove. The swollen, rosy lips were his handiwork from earlier.
Shen Shuli kept her eyes tightly shut, suppressing her fury, afraid that if she spoke, a torrent of encrypted language would spill out and ruin her ladylike image.
As soon as they entered the gates of the Fu residence, the servants immediately greeted them.
“Young Master Fu, Young Madam, please come in.”
Shen Shuli surveyed the surroundings carefully.
The Fu residence was a sprawling cluster of townhouses spanning 1,000 square meters. Each member of the Fu family had their own independent villa here, though few actually lived here, as they all had their own homes elsewhere.
Only Fu Yanci had just a single room to his name.
Looking at these men who wore masks of nobility but harbored filthy hearts, she didn’t want to set foot in this place even for a second.
At that moment, Fu Lingyuan swaggered toward them with a mocking air.
“Well, well, who do we have here? If it isn’t the recently infamous Fu Yanci! To what do we owe the honor of your presence today?”
Fu Yanci suppressed his emotions and greeted him politely. “Second Brother.”
“Who the hell is your second brother? You’re just an illegitimate son—you think you’re fit to call me that?”
Fu Lingyuan’s tone was vicious, his face twisted with malice.
Fu Yanci clenched his fists, enduring the insult without reacting.
Fu Lingyuan shook his head, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “I have to say, this bastard really cleans up well in human skin. At a glance, who’d guess he’s a stolen bastard born from an affair?”
His words drew low, mocking laughter from those nearby.
Fu Yanci didn’t lose his temper, suppressing the storm raging inside him.
Shen Shuli gave him a cool glance. If he could endure it, she couldn’t. She raised her hand and slapped Fu Lingyuan across the face.
“Shut your mouth. If you don’t know how to speak, sew it shut. Spouting filth like that—do you need a servant to wipe your ass for you too?”
Fu Lingyuan was stunned, his face darkening. “Shen Shuli, have you lost your damn mind? You dare hit me?”
Shen Shuli switched hands and slapped him again.
“Insulting my man in front of me is like slapping my face. Shouldn’t I return the favor? Keep talking, and I’ll beat your face until it’s swollen. Let’s see how smug you are then.”
Fu Lingyuan barely contained his fury, his face contorted with rage. “Don’t think you can throw your weight around just because you’re from the Shen family. Remember, this place belongs to the Fu family, not yours. Today, I’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget—let’s see who’s boss!”
As he spoke, he raised his hand, ready to strike.
Fu Yanci spoke up calmly. “Second Brother, I have a few photos of you and that young model. They’re quite explosive. How much do you think I could get if I sold them to a magazine?”
Fu Lingyuan withdrew his hand, glaring at Fu Yanci with hatred. “You bastard, you sent someone to secretly photograph me!”
Fu Yanci raised his head, meeting his furious gaze coldly. “How do you think Second Sister-in-law would feel if this news got out? Isn’t she absent today?”
A flicker of guilt flashed in Fu Lingyuan’s eyes as he suppressed his anger. He shot Shen Shuli a glare. “You’re fucking blind to fall for such a lowlife bastard!”
With that, he turned and stormed off.
Shen Shuli spat at his retreating figure. She was no ninja turtle—anyone who dared bully her would learn her wrath firsthand.
“Why tolerate him? Just hit him!”
Fu Yanci’s gaze softened with adoration as he wrapped an arm around her and guided her toward the sofa. “My wife is the fiercest.”
Shen Shuli was instantly mollified by his words. Sitting beside him, she grew impatient. “How much longer do we have to stay? I want to go home.”
“We’ll leave after dinner. Be patient,” Fu Yanci coaxed gently.
Just then, Fu Xijue approached and took a seat on the opposite sofa.
“Yan Ci, A’Li, you’re here.”
Fu Yanci deliberately switched places with Shen Shuli, blocking Fu Xijue’s line of sight. “Eldest Brother.”
Fu Xijue lowered his eyes slightly, masking his expression. “Ignore Second Brother. He had a bit to drink and forgot his place. A’Li was right to hit him.”
Shen Shuli replied politely, “Thank you, Eldest Brother.”
Of the entire Fu family, Fu Xijue was the only one she held in high regard. As a child, while everyone else bullied Fu Yanci, Fu Xijue never joined in—instead, he protected him. As the family’s decisive yet impartial leader, he was, in her eyes, the only decent person in the Fu household.
Fu Yanci cleared his throat, his tone distant. “Where’s Eldest Sister-in-law? I don’t see her.”
“She’s tied up with work and will arrive later.” Fu Xijue’s eyes darkened as he stood and patted Fu Yanci’s shoulder. “Stay with A’Li for now. I’ll go check on Grandmother before dinner.”
Fu Yanci gave a noncommittal hum. Once Fu Xijue left, he turned back to Shen Shuli, his voice tender. “Hungry? Want me to peel an apple for you to snack on?”
Shen Shuli shook her head, a faint smile curling her lips. “Not in the mood for apples.”
Fu Yanci leaned close to her ear, his tone teasing. “Want to eat me instead?”
Shen Shuli shoved him away, her face burning. “Get lost!”
Fu Yanci took her hand, amusement glinting in his eyes as he pulled her into his embrace.
“I’m all yours to devour. I’d gladly stay inside you every second if I could.”
“Shut up! There are people around!”
Flustered, Shen Shuli hastily covered his mouth. Unlike him, she had some shame.
Fu Yanci chuckled but didn’t tease her further.
Soon, everyone had gathered, and a servant announced dinner.
Grandfather Fu Cuishan and Grandmother Zheng Zezhi took their seats at the head of the table, while the rest settled in their places.
Shen Shuli sat beside Fu Yanci at the far end.
Zheng Zezhi studied Shen Shuli with a smile. “A’Li, you’re here.”
Shen Shuli greeted her politely. “Grandmother.”
Zheng Zezhi sighed regretfully. “Look at you. Marrying a man is like being reborn—you could’ve sat beside me, yet you choose the lowest seat. What a shame.”
Wang Xue, Fu Xijue’s wife, looked somewhat displeased. She was well aware that her position should have originally belonged to Shen Shuli. The Fu family had always intended for Fu Xijue to marry Shen Shuli. Unfortunately, Shen Shuli had her heart set on Fu Yanci and would rather die than marry Fu Xijue.
Fu Xijue had settled for second best by choosing to marry her instead.
Fu Xijue gave Shen Shuli a deep glance before shifting his gaze to Wang Xue. He then said to Zheng Zezhi, “Grandmother, what’s past is past. There’s no need to bring it up again.”
Zheng Zezhi let out a cold laugh and turned her attention back to Shen Shuli. “A-Li, you’ve been married for three years now, yet there’s still no sign of a child in your belly. Your elder brother’s child is already over a year old and can walk. Is there something wrong with your health?”
