Chapter 6: Buy Here First
Jiang Xiangxiang, after much deliberation, decided to directly place an order. She made a list and sent it to the manager’s office. The list was incredibly detailed, encompassing almost every conceivable household item.
Besides toiletries and baby formula, there were many other things.
For example, various types of oil: 2,000 barrels of peanut oil, 1,000 barrels of rapeseed oil, 1,000 barrels of olive oil, 1,000 barrels of corn oil, and so on. Every type of oil available on the market was included, and the quantity was always at least 1,000 units.
There were also numerous condiments and instant foods: 2,000 bottles of light soy sauce, 2,000 bottles of dark soy sauce, 2,000 bottles of aged vinegar, 2,000 bottles of cooking wine, 2,000 bottles of soy sauce—almost everything used daily, all in quantities of 2,000 bottles.
Then there were various dried goods: wood ear mushrooms, snow ear mushrooms, vermicelli, various kinds of mushrooms—all of them, 1,000 boxes each.
In addition, there were 5,000 kilograms of rice, 3,000 kilograms of millet, 2,000 kilograms of black rice, and various beans—black beans, green beans, red beans, even job’s tears—all in quantities of at least 1,000 kilograms.
3,000 kilograms of brown sugar, 2,000 kilograms of white sugar, 1,000 kilograms of ginger sugar, 1,000 kilograms of rock sugar, and 1,000 kilograms of yellow rock sugar. These things weren’t particularly rare or popular in this era.
However, in the 1970s, they would be considered treasures, especially brown sugar, which was a highly sought-after commodity. They could be used to entertain guests.
Fearing she hadn’t prepared enough, Jiang Xiangxiang, upon meeting the manager, confirmed whether she should just get everything the supermarket stocked.
This scared the supermarket manager half to death. This wasn’t a big client; this was clearly a god of wealth!
And a god of wealth who required absolutely no effort on their part.
He immediately assured her that he would prepare everything and deliver it to her.
Jiang Xiangxiang didn’t hesitate; she paid on the spot, asking for an invoice. She was meticulous and didn’t worry about the other party defaulting.
After all, even if the people ran away, the supermarket wouldn’t.
If they really defaulted, she’d have made a fortune.
The supermarket manager grinned, his eyes disappearing into his smile: “God of wealth, how about some skincare products?”
Jiang Xiangxiang paused: “Yes, I almost forgot. Let’s do this: for all brands available in the department store, like Guerlain, Lancôme, Estée Lauder—toners, lotions, creams, eye creams, hand creams, body lotions, sunscreen, foundation, lipstick, etc.—all products, regardless of the series, give me 2,000 sets of each. Oh, and some perfumes too. No Japanese products; you know about the nuclear wastewater, right?”
Manager: “Of course, I understand. Rest assured, I’ll take care of everything perfectly.”
With such a large client and so much money readily available, what was there to be afraid of? There was nothing to worry about.
Jiang Xiangxiang nodded, her feelings complex. Sure enough, once you become wealthy, everyone around you is nice and considerate.
Before, when she had no money, she had to watch people’s faces when she worked, with no choice at all. Now, it was completely different.
After paying, Jiang Xiangxiang walked back. She needed to rest. Let’s be honest, shopping was tiring. After a day of walking around, her waist and legs felt like they weren’t her own—they ached terribly.
Jiang Xiangxiang would likely be very busy in the coming days. She’d almost finished buying daily necessities; next were supplies like fruits and vegetables, which she hadn’t bought at the supermarket.
Firstly, she felt that after long-distance transportation, many fruits would no longer be fresh by the time they reached the supermarket. What if they compromised on quality and cheated her?
Secondly, she wanted to buy from the orchards. If she remembered correctly, the neighboring province was a major fruit producer, with fruits available year-round.
Jiang Xiangxiang planned to buy there, and also buy some fruit saplings and grains, completing all her purchases in one go.
And it wasn’t just S Province; she also needed to go to J Province, where the manufacturing industry was more developed, with numerous factories of all sizes.
Mmm, starting tomorrow.
Jiang Xiangxiang immediately booked a high-speed rail ticket. Speaking of high-speed rail, it was incredibly convenient these days; getting anywhere took only a few hours.
A few hours to another place.
Jiang Xiangxiang hadn’t ruled out teleporting, but doing that too often would become addictive. Besides, surveillance was so advanced these days; if she was caught, explaining herself would be a huge hassle.
So, she’d keep her secret ability hidden and take things slowly!
Before going to bed, Jiang Xiangxiang planned her route, intending to travel south, buying and collecting everything she needed before returning.
Not wanting to oversleep, she set an alarm before bed.
The next morning, the alarm rang, and she immediately sprang out of bed, her movements incredibly swift, afraid of wasting time. After a quick wash, she headed straight for the high-speed rail station.
Jiang Xiangxiang didn’t even call a taxi; she drove her used van. If she didn’t drive, she’d run out of time. Once she bought the goods, she’d need to use them, so she couldn’t be careless.
Anyway, she wouldn’t need the van for long. Why not use it now?
Upon arriving at the high-speed rail station, Jiang Xiangxiang took out her ID card, entered the station, boarded the train, and arrived in S Province in no time.
After getting off the high-speed rail, Jiang Xiangxiang shivered. The temperature in S Province was unstable; it had suddenly cooled down. It was chilly.
Shoot, I forgot to check the weather forecast.
Jiang Xiangxiang suddenly realized she needed to stock up on clothes. Since she didn’t know what she’d be wearing in the past, she needed to prepare plenty.
Clothes for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and for old people, adults, and children.
Jiang Xiangxiang’s imagination ran wild. What if she became a baby?
Anything was possible, so she needed to buy more. She silently added this to her list, figuring out what to do.
Most importantly, she needed to find fabrics suitable for the 1970s. Ready-made clothes might be hard to find, so she’d have to find someone to make them after arriving.
Jiang Xiangxiang didn’t want to be treated as an outsider. She’d finally gotten a second chance at life; she didn’t want to be killed before she could live it properly.
Oh well, let’s buy here first!
