Chapter 19: Can the Little One Cook?

Lan Yi, with a smiling face, arranged everything and was about to prepare a sumptuous dinner to entertain them.

But as soon as he entered the kitchen, he saw the little boy walking in with pots and pans, making a clattering noise.

“Uncle Lan, hello! My name is Tangguo. May I use your kitchen?” Tangguo asked politely.

“Sure, but what are you going to do?” Lan Yi asked curiously.

“My mother is very picky. She only likes to eat the food I cook!” Tangguo said seriously.

Lan Yi looked at the tiny figure who was barely as tall as the stove and asked in surprise, “Are you sure?”

Can he chop vegetables? Can he cook the dishes properly?

However, Lan Yi was soon left speechless.

Was this really a child? The knife skills were almost on par with professional chefs, and every dish looked and smelled delicious!

When the first dish was ready, Lan Yi was even more astonished. The cooking level was higher than the chefs at the Number One Restaurant in the World!

Wait, the spoon in the little one’s hand…

He walked over and took a closer look. It was indeed the logo of the Number One Restaurant in the World!

What kind of background did this mother and her two children have?

“Brother, is the food ready yet? My tummy is really hungry,” Little Mifan ran in from outside, looking a bit aggrieved.

“It’ll be ready soon. Go call Mother to eat,” Tangguo said without stopping, his efficient manner comparable to an adult.

“Okay, and I want some sparkling water!” Little Mifan quickly added.

“Sure!”

In no time, the table was filled with dishes. Feng Siyue looked at it with satisfaction and smiled. These were all the dishes her and Little Mifan loved. She walked over, hugged her son, and gave him a few pecks on the cheek.

Little Mifan leaned in and said, “Mother, I want some too!”

Feng Siyue put down Tangguo and gave Little Mifan a peck on the cheek as well.

“Uncle Lan, why isn’t the masked uncle coming to eat?” Little Mifan asked Lan Yi.

Lan Yi swallowed a sigh. His master’s temperament was too cold, and he didn’t like to interact with others. He had thought his master had changed, but when he went to invite him to eat, his master simply said not to call him in the future.

Facing the gaze of the mother and her two children, he could only smile and say, “I’m really sorry, but my master is fasting for cultivation and doesn’t partake in mundane food, so please go ahead and eat.”

Little Mifan was a bit disappointed. She had been hoping that by eating with the masked uncle, she might get a glimpse of what he looked like.

After all, surely he wouldn’t wear a mask while eating, right?

Who would have thought he wouldn’t even come?

Hmph!

Little Mifan felt a bit disappointed and angrily thought, “Not eating the food my brother cooked is his loss!”

Then she secretly hid two chicken legs, planning to find the masked uncle later and give them to him.

Feng Siyue didn’t mind and smiled. “It’s alright, Lan Yi, please sit down and join us for the meal.”

“No, no, I’m just a subordinate. How can I dine with the masters? Please, go ahead and enjoy your meal.”

Lan Yi quickly left the dining hall. If he had stayed any longer, he might have been tempted to join them at the table. The food looked incredibly delicious.

“Lingqiao, please take some food to Lan Yi,” Feng Siyue said as she sat down.

Lingqiao, being dainty, packed some food in a lunch box and delivered it to Lan Yi.

Lan Yi couldn’t refuse and, in his own room, ate the food with great relish. He kept muttering to himself, “This is the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life! My master not eating it is truly his loss!”

After finishing, he took the lunch box and headed out. Just as he stepped out, he saw his master coming out from the opposite direction, his eyes landing on the lunch box.

“Master, I, your subordinate, have already eaten. Do you want some? Should I get more?”

He ran up, asking cautiously.

“Shameless!” Di Xuan Shang said coldly as he walked out.

“Oh, master, where are you going?”

“Auction!”

Lan Yi slapped his forehead. He had almost forgotten about the important auction that required his master to preside over it tonight!

By the time he looked up, his master had already disappeared!

Carrying the lunch box, he returned to the dining hall to see that Feng Siyue and her children had also finished their meal and seemed to be preparing to go out.

“Lan Yi, I heard there’s a grand auction in Jiaoyang City tonight. Do you know where it is?” Feng Siyue asked.

Lan Yi thought this might be an opportunity.

“Are you referring to the auction house under the Wandao Chamber of Commerce? There is indeed an auction tonight, with many rare treasures up for bid. I happen to have an invitation. You can take the young lady and young master to join in the excitement.”

“Thank you, Uncle Lan!”

Tangguo, with his sweet mouth, was eager to find out what a human auction was like and how it differed from those in the Ghost Realm.

Feng Siyue had intended to decline, but since her son had already agreed, she had Lingqiao accept the invitation.

As they were about to leave, Tangguo asked, “What about the masked uncle? Is he going?”

Lan Yi was taken aback for a moment before saying, “The master has some business to attend to. You might see him there.”

Little Mifan nodded and didn’t say anything more.

Feng Siyue noticed that her usually chatty Little Mifan had been unusually quiet during the meal. It wasn’t until now that her first question was about the masked man.

She realized that her daughter seemed to have a liking for the masked man. She knelt down, patted Little Mifan’s head, and asked, “Mifan, do you like the masked uncle?”

Little Mifan pouted. “I don’t like him!”

Feng Siyue smiled slightly, recognizing her daughter’s contradictory nature. “Mifan, the masked uncle is busy with his own affairs. When he’s free, I’ll help you find him, okay?”

Little Mifan still pouted but nodded.

Seeing this, Lan Yi couldn’t help but feel delighted. Their master would not be lonely for the rest of his life!

“Sect Leader, it’s getting late. Let’s head over now!”

He then led Feng Siyue and her two children out, seeing them to the entrance of the auction house before leaving.

As he walked away, he thought to himself, “Master, I hope you’re pleased with this surprise. The little girl really likes you. Please don’t disappoint her mother.”

There was a long line of people waiting at the entrance of the auction house. Feng Siyue observed that most of them were young students wearing Vast Academy uniforms, with only a few older independent cultivators.

Those who could enter Vast Academy were considered the pride of heaven, usually from wealthy families, and often seen as rich but naive. The auction house was a perfect place to display one’s financial power.

Feng Siyue understood this well.

“Lingqiao, go to the Beiyue Empire and investigate what happened to my eyes,” she whispered to Lingqiao.

Her Grandmaster had told her that the Purple Crystal Eyes, once removed from their owner’s eyes, would turn into crystals. Just one of them could be worth a fortune. Since Feng Wanqing was now in seclusion, she wanted Lingqiao to go to the Beiyue Empire and see if her eyes were in the General’s mansion.
