Suddenly, the man seemed to sense her gaze and coldly glanced in her direction. A chilling light flashed in his eyes, giving her a sense of danger as if she were locked in the crosshairs of a deadly threat, causing her blood to almost freeze.
Feng Wanqing quickly lowered her head, her heart pounding. In her mind, she thought, “No! This must be an illusion! He’s definitely not looking at me with that gaze!”
She cautiously raised her head and saw that the man was talking to Han Yue. His gaze wasn’t on her at all, and she breathed a sigh of relief. It was indeed an illusion.
“I noticed she seems quite interested in you. It’s really amusing. How many men does she actually like? First, it was the Crown Prince of Beiyuan, Xiao Chuhan, then the Young Lord of Beiyue, Lan Zewu, followed by the Young Master of Jiaoyang City, Gao Yu, and now she’s frequently looking at you. She’s quite fickle,” Feng Siyue said with a smirk, transmitting her voice to Di Xuan Shang with a tone of mocking amusement.
Di Xuan Shang merely glanced at Feng Wanqing before shifting his gaze away, as if even looking at her for a second was a form of charity.
He looked into Feng Siyue’s eyes, his voice low. “Are you jealous?”
Feng Siyue widened her eyes, clicking her tongue. This cold man was actually quite self-absorbed.
She snorted. “Jealous of what? Do you think that after just a few days of being together, I’ve fallen in love with you? Besides, with someone as precious as me in front of you, anyone with good taste wouldn’t be interested in ordinary, vulgar women, right?”
She deliberately raised her eyebrows. When it came to self-absorption, she wasn’t lacking either!
Di Xuan Shang’s lips curled slightly under his mask. “Then may I ask this precious lady, when will you remove your veil and let me see your face?”
“You can see it anytime you want, but first, you have to take off your mask. That would be fair, right?”
Hearing this, Di Xuan Shang suddenly wasn’t in a hurry to see her face. After all, his face bore a slight resemblance to his elder brother, who was known for his fickle and irresponsible behavior. He didn’t want to evoke any unpleasant memories for her, which could cause trouble.
So, it was better to wait for another time.
Feng Siyue wasn’t in a hurry. She had plenty of patience, and this sense of mystery made things more exciting and interesting, didn’t it?
However, she still needed to find the father of her two children. She had used him to detoxify herself for seven days and nights, which must have left a severe psychological shadow on him, possibly making him fear women. She would need to make up for that.
Mentally, she couldn’t make up for it; he probably wanted to cut her down whenever he saw her. So, she would have to compensate him materially.
If the other party didn’t have children, she wouldn’t mind sending the two little ones to him since they were his offspring.
They could come to her on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and go to their father’s place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. With teleportation artifacts, it would be easy to travel back and forth.
“Yueyue, be careful later. Ouyang Feng, the vice leader of the Cultivator Alliance, is here,” Di Xuan Shang suddenly transmitted his voice to her.
Yueyue?
Hearing those words from him made Feng Siyue’s legs feel weak. His voice was so magnetic, with a hint of lingering tenderness. Especially with the cold, forbidding aura he exuded, the contrast was irresistible.
Feng Siyue wasn’t someone who couldn’t move when she saw a handsome man. The previous Lan Zewu was very handsome, but only Di Xuan Shang, whose face she hadn’t even seen, gave her a different feeling, making her heart race.
Just hearing him call her “Yueyue” made her feel like she was losing control. She glanced at the masked man in front of her. Could she be blamed for this?
She could only blame her brother’s enchanting voice and his tall, long-legged, and strong figure.
“Cough!”
As Di Xuan Shang looked at her with a puzzled gaze, she quickly looked in a certain direction and saw a middle-aged man with a large belly flying over with Yang Aotian. They sat down at the judges’ platform on the high stage of the plaza.
“You were too much in the spotlight yesterday, and the suppression against you today will be even more severe. If you don’t want to continue participating in the competition, that’s fine too. I’ll help you resolve the sect matters,” Di Xuan Shang said softly to her.
“No need, I think I can handle it,” Feng Siyue replied confidently.
She had confidence in herself; what she had shown yesterday was less than a third of her true strength.
Moreover, she didn’t want to rely on men for everything.
She sought a relationship of equals, not to be a clinging vine dependent on a man, which could easily lead to losing oneself and wasn’t her style.
Di Xuan Shang nodded slightly, respecting her decision. This was exactly what he admired about Feng Siyue. Therefore, as long as she wasn’t in absolute danger, he wouldn’t intervene.
For now, his role was to stand behind Feng Siyue as her supporter!
After Ouyang Feng and Yang Aotian sat down, the person in charge of the competition stepped forward and announced loudly, “I am Elder Chen of the Cultivator Alliance. Elder Wen is unwell today, so I will be hosting the competition!”
Feng Siyue smirked. Of course, they changed the host. After Wen Jinbao’s embarrassing performance yesterday, it was no wonder the Cultivator Alliance made a change.
“After careful consideration by the elders of the Cultivator Alliance and the Vast Academy, today’s competition will not be a ring battle but a clearance competition!” Elder Chen declared.
This announcement surprised everyone.
In previous years, the sect competition consisted of various ring battles. Why had it suddenly changed to a clearance competition? What did that even mean?
Seeing the confusion among the crowd, Elder Chen explained, “To ensure fairness in the competition and to identify the most outstanding and promising disciples from each sect, our Vice Leader Ouyang of the Cultivator Alliance has generously provided his semi-holy grade artifact—the Phantom Ghost!”
As he spoke, the mountainous figure of Ouyang Feng stood up, grinning. With a wave of his hand, a black and gold scroll flew into the air, unfurling and expanding to cover the sky above.
The enormous scroll covered the sky, darkening the daylight. Inside the scroll, a landscape painting appeared, resembling real mountain peaks and rivers. It was nighttime within the scroll, with a full moon emitting light, and faint sounds of beastly howls could be heard.
The scroll exuded a powerful pressure, making it hard to breathe.
“So this is a semi-holy artifact!”
“I’ve heard that the Cultivator Alliance only brings out Vice Leader Ouyang’s Shocking Spirit Scroll for their most core geniuses! One day outside is equivalent to three days inside, and it’s filled with abundant spiritual energy and dangerous crises, making it the best training ground!”
“Yes, I heard that last year, a disciple of the Cultivator Alliance at the late-stage Martial King realm entered and emerged a few days later having broken through to the Martial Emperor realm!”
“Isn’t there a risk of dying inside?” someone asked quietly.
“Of course not! What are you thinking? This is Vice Leader Ouyang’s life-bound artifact. With him here, how could anyone possibly die inside!”
Hearing this, the disciples felt relieved and began to look forward to the challenge.
Such an opportunity was rare. Being able to train inside a semi-holy artifact was not something everyone could hope for.
The spectators below were envious. Who would have thought that Vice Leader Ouyang would be so generous as to use a semi-holy artifact for the clearance competition? Many disciples might advance inside!
