Online Dating Variety Show, Cross-Dressing Failure Chapter 27

Chapter 27

After the last incident at the bar where they were surrounded by fans, the show’s staff were worried that it might happen again.

So, they prepared masks and sunglasses for both of them. Once Bai Siyi and Huo Xingming entered the amusement park, the staff didn’t follow them further. Instead, they found a spot to film wide shots and instructed Bai Siyi and Huo Xingming to take selfies and record videos on their phones for later editing.

Huo Xingming, wearing a mask and sunglasses, held a selfie stick and followed Bai Siyi around the amusement park.

Bai Siyi had been here when he was a child, but his memories were vague. Now that he was back after so long, he was in a surprisingly good mood.

Unlike Huo Xingming, Bai Siyi wasn’t as uninhibited. He felt awkward holding a selfie stick in the crowded park because it made people assume they were live streaming. Curious passersby kept turning their heads to look.

After filming for a bit, Bai Siyi put his phone away.

Noticing this, Huo Xingming moved his own phone closer and said loudly, “Xiao Bai, come a little closer! Don’t stay so far from me!”

Bai Siyi: “……”

People in the queue around them turned to look.

With his head lowered, Bai Siyi moved next to Huo Xingming and whispered, “Can you lower your voice?”

So many people were watching—it was really embarrassing.

But Huo Xingming, completely unfazed, said, “There are too many people here. If I don’t speak louder, I’m afraid you won’t hear me.”

Bai Siyi: “……”

He sighed and stood beside Huo Xingming silently.

Huo Xingming was a total chatterbox. His mouth just kept going and going. At first, Bai Siyi responded occasionally, but then he realized that even if he stayed silent, Huo Xingming’s urge to talk wasn’t affected in the slightest—he just kept rambling, even throwing in some English words now and then.

So, Bai Siyi simply zoned out while standing beside him.

Meanwhile, Huo Xingming diligently held the selfie stick, filmed their surroundings, and studied a map on a nearby stand, narrating his findings to Bai Siyi in real time.

Bai Siyi, however, didn’t process a single word.

It wasn’t until they got on the vertical roller coaster that Huo Xingming finally shut his mouth, put his phone away, and sat up straight with a tense expression.

At first, Bai Siyi didn’t notice. But after a while, the sudden silence felt too unnatural, so he turned to look at Huo Xingming. “Why aren’t you talking?”

Huo Xingming nervously swallowed. “Bai Siyi, this… vertical thing… do we really have to ride it?”

Bai Siyi: “……”

He silently stared at Huo Xingming for three seconds before bursting into laughter.

Once he started laughing, he couldn’t stop—for nearly a whole minute.

Huo Xingming stared at him resentfully. “Seeing me scared makes you this happy?”

Bai Siyi chuckled. “No, I just—why didn’t you say something before we got on?”

Huo Xingming, looking aggrieved, said, “Didn’t you say you wanted to ride it? And we waited in line for over half an hour—if we don’t ride it, it’d be such a was—AHHHHHH!!! BAI SIYI, BAI SIYI! IT’S MOVING! IT’S MOVING!!!”

Bai Siyi: “……”

They were seated in the middle, and everyone in front of them turned around to look at Huo Xingming—there was no helping it, his voice was just too loud.

Many people couldn’t hold back their laughter anymore.

Bai Siyi: “……”

Huo Xingming was still screaming, gripping the safety bar tightly. “Ahhh! Bai Siyi, Bai Siyi, it’s going up! It’s going up! What position am I in right now? Am I lying down? Damn, I can see the sun in front of me!”

Bai Siyi: “……”

Having had enough, Bai Siyi reached out and covered his mouth, scolding him in a low voice. “Can you shut up? You’re so loud.”

Huo Xingming: “……”

He pressed his lips together, careful not to let them touch Bai Siyi’s palm. His eyes blinked a few times, filled with amusement as he looked at Bai Siyi.

Bai Siyi: “……”

Bai Siyi let go, incredulous. “Damn, were you acting?”

Huo Xingming grinned smugly. “I was talking to you so much earlier, and you completely ignored me, just spacing out!”

Bai Siyi: “……”

Huo Xingming continued proudly. “Did you see your face just now? Hahaha, it was hilarious.”

Bai Siyi: “……”

Just as Bai Siyi was about to get annoyed, Huo Xingming suddenly patted him and looked ahead. “Bai Siyi, this time it’s really happening!”

Bai Siyi turned his head and saw that the vertical roller coaster had reached its highest point. The next second, his heartbeat sped up—boom! The sudden weightlessness rushed at him, and he heard Huo Xingming let out an ear-splitting scream beside him. Without thinking, Bai Siyi screamed along with him.

By the time they got off, Bai Siyi’s throat was almost hoarse. After years of holding everything in, even though he had been working hard to move forward, deep down, he had felt overwhelmed.

After all, when he first started working, he had only been seventeen.

Now, after letting it all out, Bai Siyi felt a little exhausted. He got off the ride and found a bench to sit on.

Huo Xingming looked at him. “Feeling sick?”

Bai Siyi shook his head. “No.”

After a two-second pause, Bai Siyi suddenly smiled, his dark eyes shining. “Huo Xingming, let’s go again, okay?”

Seeing how happy he looked, Huo Xingming grinned. “Alright, let’s go.”

So, they lined up again and rode the vertical roller coaster one more time.

This time, Huo Xingming didn’t scream. They just laughed as they rode. When they got off, Huo Xingming asked if he wanted to go again.

Bai Siyi shook his head. The line took too long, and since he didn’t come here often, he didn’t want to waste all his time on one ride.

The two of them spent the entire day at the amusement park. They didn’t even eat lunch, only having milk tea and small cakes. By the time the sky darkened, they had tried every ride in the park. Only then did they finally leave.

After walking around all day, Bai Siyi’s legs felt weak.

Outside the amusement park, he checked the time—it was already past 7 o’clock. He turned to Huo Xingming and said, “Come on, dinner’s on me.”

Last time, Bai Siyi was the one who paid, so Huo Xingming felt embarrassed. He immediately said, “No need, let me treat you this time. Did you forget? I just got paid!”

Bai Siyi looked at him, thinking to himself—Huo Xingming never saves money. As soon as he gets a little, he spends it all on tips and donations. He might as well let him pay for dinner now.

After all, in a while, when Huo Xingming blows through his money and can’t even afford a steamed bun, Bai Siyi could treat him then. That works too.

So Bai Siyi nodded. “Alright, let’s go.”

This time, they went straight to the same bun shop as last time.

The moment Huo Xingming saw the place, he felt uneasy. He hesitated at the entrance. “Uh… are we eating buns again?”

Bai Siyi was confused. “Don’t you like them?”

Last time, Huo Xingming ate the buns happily, didn’t he?

Huo Xingming: “……”

Scratching his head, he looked at Bai Siyi. The truth was, he didn’t like buns—he actually preferred Western food!

And honestly, after last time, he’d had enough of buns to last a lifetime. But he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Seeing his hesitation, Bai Siyi said, “Alright then, let’s just eat fast food next door.”

The first time they met, they had fast food here. But this time, Huo Xingming no longer had tattoos on his face.

And Bai Siyi… well, he wasn’t wearing a fake chest anymore. Even if he ordered one, it wouldn’t have arrived yet. So after thinking about it, he had simply wrapped his chest with a few layers of bandages.

He had forcefully reduced his B+ cup to an A. The crazy part? Huo Xingming hadn’t noticed at all!

From the start, he had never once looked at Bai Siyi’s chest. Bai Siyi even suspected that if he removed the bandages entirely, Huo Xingming still wouldn’t notice the difference between his flat chest now and before.

Unbelievable. Could a man really be this oblivious?

Wasn’t it common knowledge that straight guys loved staring at this kind of thing? Even if they were too embarrassed to stare, they should at least care, right?

Bai Siyi, unable to believe it, secretly glanced down at his own chest from time to time when Huo Xingming wasn’t looking. The more he looked, the more his brows furrowed.

It was obviously much smaller. He could tell at a glance—it was painfully obvious.

But Huo Xingming didn’t react at all. His mouth was stuffed full of food when he finally looked up, only to meet Bai Siyi’s gaze. At that moment, Bai Siyi happened to be looking down at his own chest. Their eyes met unexpectedly, and Bai Siyi instantly blushed in embarrassment.

Flustered, he stammered, “W-what is it?”

Huo Xingming’s gaze slowly, very slowly, shifted downward—toward his chest.

Bai Siyi tensed up all over. Here it comes, here it comes! He’s finally noticed!

He knew it! No straight guy could be that dense!

During the day, Huo Xingming probably hadn’t noticed because he was too distracted by the amusement park.

But now, they were sitting face-to-face, eating together. There was no way he wouldn’t notice.

Bai Siyi felt nervous, but at the same time, he was a little hopeful that Huo Xingming would finally realize he was a guy.

After all, he had been wearing women’s clothes every day and speaking in a cutesy loli voice—something he didn’t actually enjoy.

Sure enough, Huo Xingming suddenly frowned. “You…”

Bai Siyi gripped his chopsticks tightly, watching him with a mix of tension and anticipation. “What is it?”

Huo Xingming suddenly reached out and pointed at Bai Siyi’s chest. “Your shirt is dirty!”

Bai Siyi: “???”

Both of them were wearing white today, and at some point, some oil stains had splattered onto his shirt—two small but very noticeable spots.

Bai Siyi silently lowered his head and glanced at his chest.

Meanwhile, Huo Xingming, completely unfazed, scooped up another big bite of rice and said, “It’s fine. Just wash it with dish soap when you get home—I know this trick!”

Puffed up with pride over his knowledge, he added, “My mom said if dish soap doesn’t work, just soak it in hot water. It dissolves the grease and gets it really clean!”

Bai Siyi silently picked up a bite of vegetables, forced a smile, and looked at Huo Xingming. “Thanks. If you hadn’t said anything, I would’ve never known I had oil stains on my chest for the rest of my life.”

Huo Xingming waved a hand dismissively. “Ah, what’s there to thank me for? You’re way too polite.”

Bai Siyi: “…”
