Chapter 6: Girl, You’ve Caused Trouble

Seeing how hard Henny was working for him, Victor couldn’t help but step forward.

Henny noticed someone approaching and warily looked up.

“Professor Victor?”

Recognizing the person before her, she hurriedly stood up, flustered, and adjusted the glasses on her nose.

Victor, for the first time in a while, broke his poker face and asked with a trace of concern:

“Aren’t you tired?”

He knew that Henny’s job was assigned by the academy, but her academic level was obviously sufficient for her to become a new teacher at the Royal Academy of Magic.

Keeping such a talented person as his assistant—whether or not society would criticize him for it was one thing, but even his own conscience couldn’t sit right with it.

“I’m not tired at all!”

Henny, however, shook her head firmly, her expression determined.

“Being able to prepare lessons for you is my honor!”

A foolishly adorable little girl.

If it were the old Victor, he would have squeezed this little lamb dry until not even a trace was left.

He would have extracted every last ounce of value from her and then discarded her.

To put it bluntly, that was the kind of person Victor was.

If something benefited him, he would hold onto it tightly.

In truth, with Vega around, he didn’t need an assistant to help him prepare lesson materials at all.

Since there was no one else around, Victor decided to let this silly little lamb go.

He carefully considered his tone, keeping it as cold and indifferent as usual, and said calmly:

“You don’t need to write speeches for me anymore.”

Hearing this, Henny was stunned. Her body wobbled, and she could barely stand.

She thought she had made some grave mistake—so severe that Victor was about to fire her.

“Professor, I can spend more time perfecting your speech…”

Tears welled up in her eyes as she pleaded, her voice trembling.

“Please don’t abandon me! I can definitely do a good job as your assistant!”

Victor frowned slightly, not expecting such a reaction from her. He merely wanted her to rest earlier and eventually find a place to truly showcase her talents in the magic academy.

But in her mind, she was only hoping for another chance, just to stay by his side as his assistant.

It was as if… she was about to graduate.

Vega flapped his wings and whispered in Victor’s ear:

“Why do you think that is?”

“This child is just a magic apprentice—she hasn’t even reached the threshold of becoming a mage.”

Victor suddenly understood. Looking at Henny, he felt regretful about her wasted talent.

In game terms, a magic apprentice was only at level 1–9.

Simply put, she was a beginner.

The Royal Academy of Magic never kept idle people. The minimum requirement to become a teacher here was to be a mage.

Only after reaching that level would the academy consider one’s teaching ability.

No matter how outstanding Henny’s knowledge was—even if she could prepare lessons for the most talented students—

As long as she wasn’t a mage, she had no right to become a teacher.

From Henny’s perspective, Victor now understood how cruel his words must have been.

She was just a temporary assistant.

If even he didn’t need her anymore, she only had two choices left:

Wait for an opening as another professor’s assistant.

Leave the Royal Academy of Magic and graduate.

And after she left, no one would blame the academy. They would only assume she was dismissed due to her own inadequacy.

She was highly knowledgeable and had devoted her entire life to studying, but in the end, she wouldn’t even be able to find a place to go.

But Victor wasn’t someone who knew how to comfort others—he was a notoriously petty villain, after all.

So, he merely left her with one sentence:

“Forget it. I take back what I said. Henny, you did well—you didn’t make any mistakes.”

“I will continue using you until you’re completely broken.”

“So before then, don’t wear yourself out.”

Henny was overjoyed and nodded excitedly.

“Professor! I won’t disappoint you!”

Victor was curious. Why would someone as capable as Henny willingly remain an assistant?

So, he asked her directly.

Henny was surprised that Victor would inquire about her past. A shadow of sadness flickered in her eyes, but she still answered calmly:

“I graduated from the Royal Academy of Magic, but even at graduation, I hadn’t become a First-Tier Mage. So, I stayed behind as an assistant voluntarily.”

The rest of the story was clear.

Other professors naturally had their preferred assistants. Henny had knowledge but no talent, so no one took her seriously.

Until the academy recruited a new professor—Victor. That was her chance to work alongside this notorious genius mage.

After listening, Victor nodded and patted her shoulder.

“Keep working hard. Since the academy allowed you to stay, they won’t treat you unfairly.”

“I’m new here. Can you show me around the academy?”

Henny, flustered by his request, quickly agreed and hurried to tidy up the desk.

“You just arrived at the academy and haven’t had time to explore yet. This is a good chance to look around.”

Victor said this casually, but he knew the truth very well.

In the game, he had visited this place countless times. He even knew that there was a hidden garden behind the headmaster’s office.

He was only saying this so she wouldn’t overwork herself.

Especially since she was preparing lessons for him right in front of him—it made him feel guilty.

After all, this was his job, yet someone else was doing it entirely on his behalf.

Then again, guilt aside, it still felt great to slack off.

Henny guided him through the academy, enthusiastically introducing various buildings.

Gardens, fields, training grounds.

Victor nodded in response to everything, even though he was as familiar with this place as his own backyard.

—At the Arcane Hall—

He stopped in front of the Arcane Hall.

This was where players practiced PvP combat and honed their magical skills.

But at the moment, a commotion was coming from inside—students seemed to be arguing.

Victor frowned, suddenly understanding why teachers back in school always patrolled the hallways, catching noisy classrooms.

Brats needed discipline.

And troublesome students? Even more so.

So, he pushed the door open and stepped inside.

Erika was in a terrible mood.

She had wanted to teach Victor a lesson, but instead, she was the one who got schooled.

To make things worse, she had lost her favorite hairpin.

It was a gift from her mother, and she had accidentally sent it into a spatial rift during a teleportation spell.

To retrieve it, Erika came to the Arcane Hall to practice teleportation magic, trying to undo the trick Victor had pulled on her teleportation circle.

But obviously, she couldn’t do it.

After countless failed attempts and explosions, she clutched her golden hair in frustration.

“Damn it! Why did it fail again?!”

The more she failed, the more irritated she became—until she made a terrible mistake.

She hadn’t canceled her teleportation spell during practice, and the portal had opened in the middle of the hall.

At that moment, a student in uniform accidentally stepped onto the circle.

A flash of red light—

Whoosh!

The student vanished.

Erika’s eyes widened in horror as she watched the student disappear before her very eyes.

“Jack? Jack?!”

“Damn it, he got teleported away!”

The students around her turned pale.

And Erika… realized she had made a huge mistake.

“Shit! Did he get sent to another dimension?!”
