Chapter 9: Disdain from the Wolf Tribe
The news that Fei Li’s successful treatment of Heng Qi quickly became known throughout the Wolf Tribe, and everyone began to look at him differently.
In primitive society, witch doctors were highly respected, and every tribe desired to have one.
Luo Sang’s attitude towards Fei Li improved significantly, though he still did not permit him to come too close.
The Wolf Tribe continued their journey, and soon they returned to their tribe.
The orc gathered at the entrance of the tribe to welcome their triumphant return.
Seeing that everyone had brought their partners back, the orc’s eyes filled with envy.
When their gaze fell on Fei Li, there was a hint of suspicion.
“Why is this person following Lord Luo Sang? Could he be Lord Luo Sang’s partner?”
“That’s not right. He doesn’t bear Lord Luo Sang’s unique mark. He’s not Lord Luo Sang’s partner.”
“Then how did he get into the tribe?”
The orc murmured among themselves, their looks towards Fei Li mixed with suspicion, disdain, and curiosity.
Luo Sang stopped and pointed to the food behind him. “Everyone, distribute the meat.”
“Wooo~~~” The wolf orc cheered.
Luo Sang then addressed Fei Li. “This person is a witch doctor and will be our tribe’s slave from now on.”
The orc displayed shocked expressions.
“A witch doctor?”
“Why would Lord Luo Sang make a witch doctor a slave?”
“He must have offended Lord Luo Sang.”
“Serves him right! Those who offend Lord Luo Sang shouldn’t stay in the tribe.”
As everyone debated endlessly, and Fei Li felt as if he were pierced by countless sharp gazes.
It was unbearable!
He was a modern person, yet he was being rejected by a group of ignorant primitive orcs?
He raised his chin, he stood up and cast a sharp look over all the orc.
“I’m not useless. I’m a witch doctor. With me, you won’t have to fear illnesses in the future.”
Having not seen him treat patients, the tribe’s orc subconsciously regarded him as a worthless outsider.
They scoffed at his words, each taking their share of meat and heading home, none paying him any attention.
Only Luo Sang remained behind him, eyeing the remaining meat with interest but daring not to take any.
“Lord Luo Sang, I can…”
“Mm.” Luo Sang made a simple sound through his nose.
Fei Li happily took some meat, found a clear spot in the tribe, and planned to start a fire for grilling.
Luo Sang followed him, observing his strange actions but not stopping him.
After grilling the meat, just as Fei Li was about to eat it, Luo Sang suddenly snatched the meat from his hand and devoured it with great relish.
“Hey, you…”
He was so rude and still had the nerve to eat the meat he had cooked?
Ignoring Luo Sang’s unreasonable behavior, Fei Li continued grilling and then sat next to Luo Sang to eat.
“If only there were salt and cumin powder, it would taste even better.”
Luo Sang looked up at him in confusion. “Salt? Cumin powder?”
Fei Li realized that the wolf orc of this tribe ate raw meat and, of course, they didn’t know about seasonings like salt and cumin powder.
With a roll of his eyes, he explained, “It’s something salty, and cumin smells very fragrant—it makes your mouth water just from the smell.”
Luo Sang suddenly stopped eating and brought out some items from his home, tossing them to Fei Li.
“Is this what you mean?”
When Fei Li unwrapped the beast skin to reveal some coarse white salt crystals, and he was overjoyed.
“We have plenty of this salty sand here. If you like it, I can take you to get some next time.”
Fei Li nodded eagerly.
He quickly sprinkled the salt on the meat, and upon sniffing it up close, the grilled meat smelled even better!
He handed the salted barbecue meat to Luo Sang, who took a bite without hesitation and then couldn’t stop eating.
Fei Li sat next to him, enjoying the barbecue meat and feeling pleased with the unexpected addition of salt.
Fei Li had a rather delicate appearance, while Luo Sang had a distinctly masculine look.
The two of them sitting together was oddly pleasing to the eye.
At that moment, Mao Li passed by with Heng Qi and couldn’t help but glance at them a few more times.
“Lord Luo Sang and Fei Li are really a good match, but unfortunately, Fei Li…” Heng Qi looked at Fei Li with eyes full of regret.
Heng Qi, having been saved by Fei Li, always regarded him as a benefactor.
Mao Li hurriedly pulled Heng Qi away, whispering, “Don’t say such things. Lord Luo Sang is of high status. Don’t speak like that again.”
After eating, Fei Li looked at Luo Sang with a pitiful expression. “Since I made you barbecue meat, could I stay at your place tonight?”
His round, dark eyes stared intently at Luo Sang motionlessly, making it difficult for Luo Sang to look away.
Such a pair of clear and innocent eyes were in him.
Luo Sang suddenly grew angry, stood up, and grabbed Fei Li’s wrist. “Why did you have to be carrying someone else’s cub?”
