Chapter 91: Do You Prefer It Hard or Soft?
Luo Sang’s cool lips felt soft as they pressed lightly on Fei Li’s hand, leaving a tingly sensation.
Fei Li looked up at Luo Sang and, without thinking, blurted out, “Your lips are so soft.”
“Hm?” Luo Sang’s lips curled into a mischievous smile as he leaned in closer. “So, do you prefer it soft or hard?” Fei Li’s face instantly flushed red.
Having shared many intimate moments with Luo Sang, he clearly understood the implication behind those words.
“What are you saying in broad daylight?”
Avoiding Luo Sang’s gaze, Fei Li immediately moved away from him.
He walked towards the working Ox Tribe, and occasionally offered guidance on their tasks. Seeing the tribe’s movements becoming more skillful, he felt relieved.
For several days now, members of the Fox tribe had been lingering around the Ox Tribe’s area.
Apart from seeing the Ox Tribe near the spiritual spring at first, they hadn’t ventured out of their settlement again.
This left the Fox tribe puzzled.
Hu Zong stood inside a house, hands behind his back, frowning.
A fox orc hurried in and stood respectfully before him.
“Any new movements from the Ox Tribe?”
The orc shook his head and truthfully replied, “It’s the same as before. We haven’t seen anyone from the Ox Tribe, and we have no idea how Fei Li and Luo Sang are doing.”
Hu Zong furrowed his brows deeply and let out a soft sigh.
What are the Ox Tribe up to?
Previously, they stuck close to the spiritual spring, but now, for days, there hasn’t been a sign of them.
Seeing the leader remain silent, the orc continued, “Since the Ox Tribe isn’t guarding the spiritual spring anymore, should we take this chance to reclaim it?”
Hu Zong shook his head.
“I think it’s not that simple. The Ox Tribe might have already set traps around the spirit spring. If we go now, we’d likely fall right into their hands.”
“So, what should we do?”
After a moment of thought, Hu Zong turned to the fox orc. “Tell everyone that we’ll head over to the Ox Tribe tonight to see what they’re up to.”
The orc left the house to urgently gather the Fox warriors.
Leaving a few behind to guard the tribe, the rest followed Hu Zong.
Through the concerted effort of all the orcs in the tribe, the Ox Tribe had managed to build over half of their new homes.
The Ox Tribe were finally moving into their new houses, and everyone was in high spirits.
That night, the Ox Tribe began hosting a bonfire party.
After spending a few days with Fei Li, they gradually accepted the use of fire and started to appreciate its benefits.
Gathered around the fire, they followed Fei Li’s earlier instructions to grill fish.
Before long, the scent of grilled fish wafted through the air around the fire.
Having helped build their houses, Fei Li had become a hero to the Ox Tribe. At this moment, he was surrounded by a group of Ox Tribe members, chatting away.
The admiration in their eyes as they looked at Fei Li was unmistakable.
Not far away, Luo Sang sat with a dark expression, watching Fei Li being fawned over by the Ox Tribe.
Seeing his beloved being stared at by so many people left him feeling annoyed.
Just as he was about to get up and walk toward Fei Li, Mitu approached him.
Mitu handed him a grilled fish, saying, “Fei Li asked me to give this to you. No matter the situation, he never forgets about you.”
Luo Sang happily accepted the grilled fish, thinking to himself, at least Fei Li has some conscience left.
Mitu, holding a grilled fish as well, sat down beside him.
“I can tell you and Fei Li are really close. I’m curious, how did you two end up together?”
In their tribe, there were no humans—only orcs who paired up with other orcs.
To them, the idea of a wolf tribe member being with a human was quite incredible.
Luo Sang took a bite of the fish and then spat out a bone, saying, “I’m curious myself. How did this person make his way into my heart?”
He had long since gotten used to Fei Li’s presence, as naturally as he was accustomed to his own hands.
Perhaps Fei Li was the one he was destined to wait for, and the two of them were fated to become partners.
Thinking of this, a beautiful smile formed on Luo Sang’s lips.
Suddenly, Luo Sang’s expression turned serious.
“What’s wrong?” Mitu noticed something was off.
“Someone’s coming.”
Mitu immediately stood up and looked around, but saw no one.
The Ox Tribe’s hearing was naturally not as sharp as the wolf tribe’s, so they couldn’t hear the distant footsteps.
Turning back to the Ox Tribe, Mitu warned, “Everyone, be alert. The Fox tribe might be about to invade our tribe.”
At the mention of the Fox tribe, all the Ox Tribe members showed signs of fear.
The terror from when the Fox tribe set their homes on fire in the middle of the night still haunted them.
“They wouldn’t come to burn our houses again, would they?” someone from the Ox Tribe asked.
Mitu shook his head. “It’s not clear yet, but we must stay on guard.”
All the Ox Tribe members gathered around the fire, looking in different directions.
Fei Li returned to Luo Sang’s side, a trace of worry crossing his face. “Why would the Fox tribe come at a time like this?”
“We have to handle this carefully.”
The Fox tribe knew how to use poison and fire.
Such a cunning group made everyone uneasy.
Before long, Hu Zong appeared in front of the Ox Tribe with his people.
Hu Zong wore his ever-present, insincere smile, but seeing Fei Li and Luo Sang still alive made his expression change momentarily before he quickly masked it.
“Brother Fei Li, Brother Luo Sang, it’s great to see you both alive. I came especially to bring you back to the Fox tribe. You must have suffered here in the Ox Tribe, right?”
Hearing Hu Zong’s fake, hollow words made Fei Li sick. “We’re doing just fine here with the Ox Tribe. We don’t want to go back to the Fox tribe.”
Hu Zong was momentarily stunned.
As expected, things were going in the direction he least wanted to see.
Glancing at the Ox Tribe’s new houses, a look of surprise crossed his face.
When did the Ox Tribe build new houses? These were far sturdier than their old straw huts.
How could this have happened?
The Ox Tribe couldn’t possibly have such great capabilities. Hu Zong’s conclusion was clear… It must be Fei Li and Luo Sang.
“These barbaric Ox Tribe members will harm you. You should come back with me to the Fox tribe!” Hu Zong continued to persuade them.
Fei Li let out a cold laugh, staring directly at him.
He had met shameless people before, but never someone as shameless as this.
Luo Sang also glared coldly at the Fox tribe members, showing no intention of leaving the Ox Tribe.
Not wanting to ruin the bonfire party, Fei Li patiently said, “While we’re still in a good mood, you’d better leave quickly. We don’t want to fight tonight.”
There were still so many grilled fish left, and he didn’t want to waste them.
A fox orc standing behind Hu Zong spoke up, “Lord Hu Zong, stop wasting words with them. If they refuse to return with us to the Fox tribe, let’s just kill them!” The fox’s true intentions were finally revealed.
Hu Zong’s face turned vicious as he looked at the two of them. “Brother Fei Li, I’ll ask you one last time: are you willing to come back with me to the Fox tribe?”
“Not at all,” Fei Li replied slowly, emphasizing each word so that every fox could hear clearly.
“Then don’t blame me.”
With those words, Hu Zong ordered all the foxes to attack the Ox Tribe.
Mitu rushed forward to fight but was stopped by Fei Li.
Fei Li spread his hands and drew a transparent barrier in front of the fox tribe.
The fox warriors who charged ahead were automatically bounced back as soon as they touched the barrier.
After several of them were knocked back, the fox tribe finally stopped their reckless charge.
Standing still, Hu Zong scrutinized the transparent barrier before him.
“You can use barriers? Who are you, really?”
With a faint smile, Fei Li dusted off his hands. “You’re quite observant. It seems you’re not simple either.”
So far, aside from the mermaid tribe, the fox tribe was the smartest group Fei Li had encountered.
“Hu Zong, I’ll settle the score with you eventually. I suggest you leave before I get angry.”
The fox tribe took a step back, not daring to make any reckless moves.
At this moment, Fei Li turned back to the others with a smile. “Don’t worry about them. Let’s continue.”
Perhaps realizing they couldn’t do anything against the barrier, the Ox Tribe simply ignored the foxes and resumed their bonfire party.
After watching for a while, the fox tribe, humiliated, slinked away from the Ox Tribe’s settlement.
Over the next week, under Fei Li’s guidance, the Ox Tribe finished building all their houses.
All the Ox orcs moved into their new homes, and even Luo Sang and Fei Li had a decent house now, no longer needing to sleep in a simple cowshed.
Two weeks passed, and the Ox Tribe had not been bathing in the spiritual spring, so the water became clearer.
But to restore it to its original state, they still needed to find the Muzhi herb Fei Li had mentioned before.
By using the sap of the Muzhi herb, the spiritual spring water could slowly be purified.
The next day, Fei Li and Luo Sang left the tribe, setting off to search for the Muzhi herb.
The two of them walked east from the Ox Tribe’s settlement and unknowingly ventured far.
Before setting out, Fei Li had observed the area around the Ox Tribe.
He noticed that there were more unusual plants to the east, so he led Luo Sang in that direction.
Before long, they came across a large grassy field.
Luo Sang stopped, staring at the small purple-red flowers. His instincts told him these flowers were unusual.
He looked ahead at Fei Li. “Don’t you think these flowers are the same color as the wounds the Ox Tribe had when they were poisoned?”
Fei Li, who had also stopped, carefully examined the flowers.
“It’s… they really are.”
Fei Li bent down to pick a small purple-red flower and sniffed it. “The smell is the same too.”
“The Fox tribe has been here.”
Fei Li nodded in agreement.
As these thoughts crossed his mind, a sense of unease crept into Fei Li’s heart.
If the Fox tribe had discovered this place long ago and already visited, could they still find the Muzhi herb?
Suddenly, Fei Li grabbed Luo Sang and quickened his pace.
The two of them ran all the way, quickly arriving at the edge of a cliff.
Looking down at the sheer drop beneath them, Fei Li abruptly stepped back.
“Sure enough, no Muzhi herb. Could it really have been destroyed by the Fox tribe?”
Fei Li thought back to the places they had passed. They had seen many other flowers and grasses, but none of them were the Muzhi herb.
Seeing the dejected look on his face, Luo Sang comforted him, “Maybe there was never any Muzhi herb here to begin with. Could we have gone in the wrong direction?”
“That’s possible,” Fei Li sighed softly, still reflecting on the path they had taken.
Suddenly, he recalled an open space they had passed earlier.
“I get it now. Let’s go back.”
That open space had no flowers or grass at all, almost as if someone had deliberately cleared it.
