Ji Chenai said. “Now, tell me your name.”
The little girl took a deep breath and replied. “My name is Zhu Yunxia.”
Ji Chenai pulled a beautifully wrapped piece of candy from his pocket and said. “Here, eat this.”
The little girl started crying again, clearly thinking the candy in Ji Chenai’s hand was something like poison. Nevertheless, she took it, unwrapped it, and popped it into her mouth. Muffled through her tears, she asked. “Its sweet?”
“Of course it’s sweet,” Ji Chenai answered.
The girl’s eyes widened in surprise. “Aren’t you a demon?”
“I certainly am a demon,” Ji Chenai replied.
The little girl’s eyes dimmed once again.
Ji Chenai continued, “But I found a new pair of gloves yesterday, so I don’t need you for now. If you take my poison and do something bad later, I’ll turn you into a pair of gloves.”
The little girl asked hesitantly. “So, you’re not going to eat me now?”
Ji Chenai replied. “You need to tell them that if they continue to bully others, they will keep smiling like this.”
A radiant smile broke across the girl’s face, her cheeks still stained with tears. “You’re not a demon, right?”
With a wicked grin, Ji Chenai pulled out the gloves and said. “If I’m not a demon, then how could I have human skin gloves?”
The little girl let out a shriek and ran away, leaving Ji Chenai laughing heartily in place.
Xiao Qi who had been observing the entire scene, remarked that he had had enough of Ji Chenai’s dark sense of humor…
Ji Chenai said, “If the Devil’s Smile is so effective, then the Doom of Liars and the Regret of Thieves must be even more powerful, right? Xiao Qi, the negative energy from this is far greater than the positive energy!”
Only then did Xiao Qi respond. “Sweetie, positive energy can heal legs, while negative energy will only break them.”
Ji Chenai was momentarily at a loss for words; he had been having so much fun that he had forgotten about his own legs.
Xiao Qi added, “All the good deeds they do while under the influence of the skill count toward you.”
Ji Chenai thought for a moment, realizing that was why his energy levels had been rising so quickly these past few days—more people were picking up trash.
Xiao Qi added. “Keep it up! You’re almost at five hundred energy points! Positive energy is harder to obtain than negative energy, so when you reach two thousand points, you’ll unlock your first skill.”
“What skill?” Ji Chenai asked.
“Invincible Flying Kick!” Xiao Qi replied.
“Speak in plain language,” Ji Chenai retorted.
“Temporary walking ability,” Xiao Qi clarified.
The prospect of being able to walk brightened Ji Chenai’s spirits, giving him a renewed sense of purpose.
Xiao Qi continued, “But I forgot to remind you, you just bullied a little girl until she cried…”
Ji Chenai’s expression darkened; he couldn’t believe this would cost him energy points.
Xiao Qi said, “Fortunately, you gave that little girl a piece of candy in the end…”
Ji Chenai sighed in relief.
Xiao Qi continued, “So it’ll only cost you ten points.”
Ji Chenai was speechless. “Ten points? I’ll have to pick up trash ten times for that!”
