After the incident at Zhou Yaoyun’s birthday party, Liu Yumu who was once popular and well-liked, suddenly became the class pariah. Even Xiong Ziyao, who had always treated her like a dear little sister, turned against her. That very night, she went back to the dorm with Liu Rui and had a fierce argument with Liu Yumu—almost to the point of throwing Liu Yumu’s bedding out.
Having been caught red-handed and forced to admit her theft, Liu Yumu’s usual attempts to explain fell on deaf ears. So, with nowhere left to hide, she dropped the pitiful act entirely, unleashing such foul language that even Xiong Ziyao was shocked.
Previously, Liu Rui and Xiong Ziyao didn’t get along well, but the shared frustration with Liu Yumu seemed to bring them closer. The two spent the evening berating Liu Yumu, and afterward, they relaxed together with face masks. It’s funny how a common enemy can turn rivalries into friendships.
As Xiong Ziyao lay in bed, still stewing, she blurted out. “Liu Rui, do you really like Zhou Yaoyun?”
Liu Rui froze, her face suddenly warming. She didn’t respond.
After a moment, Xiong Ziyao continued. “Do you think Zhou Yaoyun already saw through Liu Yumu and that’s why he kept his distance from her?”
Liu Rui frowned. “Why do you say that?”
Xiong Ziyao paused thoughtfully. “Didn’t you notice? When Liu Yumu blurted all those things, everyone was shocked—except Zhou Yaoyun. He didn’t even flinch.”
Liu Rui thought about it, realizing that Xiong Ziyao’s words did make some sense.
Xiong Ziyao sighed, “I’m planning to apologize to Zhou Yaoyun tomorrow. If only I hadn’t trusted Liu Yumu so blindly…”
The two girls kept talking as evening fell.
Meanwhile, Ji Chenai was only focused on one thing—the surge in his energy points, which were now close to reaching 2,000. Exposing Liu Yumu’s true nature had given him a 300-point boost, far more than even his previous exploits, like rescuing a girl from a kidnapper.
Ji Chenai asked Xiao Qi what was going on, and Xiao Qi, trying to sound mysterious, replied. “Because a lot of people’s fates were changed by what you did.”
Ji Chenai was confused. “Changed their fate? Who are they?”
Xiao Qi answered vaguely. “A few unlucky guys, a few unlucky girls, and one particularly important person.” After that, it refused to elaborate, no matter how much Ji Chenai pressed.
But from Xiao Qi’s words, Ji Chenai was certain of his suspicion—Xiao Qi could see the future. It hadn’t been making things up when it mentioned the incident with Liu Ziming. So now the question was, could Ji Chenai extract a glimpse of his own future from Xiao Qi?
Xiao Qi seemed to understand exactly what Ji Chenai was thinking. It said, “You are my host. If you want to see your future, it’s not impossible…”
Ji Chenai was slightly skeptical of Xiao Qi’s apparent willingness, but deep down, he was still a teenager, younger than Zhou Yaoyun. If it weren’t for his past experiences, he might not have seemed so worn out. So, hearing that he could see his future, he couldn’t help but be intrigued.
Ji Chenai said. “Then show me.”
Xiao Qi gave a little chuckle, and a light screen appeared in front of Ji Chenai. On the screen, there was nothing but darkness, with only faint rustling sounds that could be heard.
Ji Chenai frowned. “What’s this? Am I going to turn into a cockroach in the future?”
Xiao Qi said. “Just keep watching.”
Reluctantly, Ji Chenai did as told. After nearly a minute of rustling sounds, he suddenly heard a soft click, as though someone had turned on a light. Then, he saw himself.
The figure on the light screen was him, but an older version. He had become an adult, yet his expression was more worn and haggard. His legs still hadn’t healed, and the version of himself lying in bed looked distant and indifferent. Ji Chenai even noticed a collar-like thing around his neck.
Ji Chenai stared in disbelief. “What the hell???”
The image was only visible for a brief moment, and as soon as Ji Chenai saw himself, the light screen disappeared.
Fuming, Ji Chenai snapped. “What is this? Is this supposed to be my future??”
Xiao Qi replied in a calm, detached voice. “This is what you’ll be like if you don’t put in the effort to earn energy points…”
Ji Chenai was silent for a moment. Was this a threat? It sure feels like a threat!
Xiao Qi sighed heavily. “After your legs heal, if you choose not to do good deeds anymore, this is one possible version of your future.”
Ji Chenai was left stunned. “…So what’s going to happen to me in the future?”
Xiao Qi replied. “If you keep being a good person and doing good deeds, your future will be about maintaining world peace and saving humanity!”
Ji Chenai: “Why not save the Earth?!”
Xiao Qi chuckled. “The Earth doesn’t need saving. What needs saving is humanity.”
