Hearing this, Ji Chenai decided to agree. He figured it wouldn’t hurt to familiarize himself with the area around the house.

So, Zhou Yaoyun ended up pushing Ji Chenai’s wheelchair out the door. Although Zhou Leling was unhappy about it, she didn’t dare voice her complaints in front of the adults. Once they were outside, she took advantage of Zhou Yaoyun’s turned back to make several funny faces at Ji Chenai.

Ji Chenai watched her antics quietly… and made a mental note of them.

Had it been just Zhou Yaoyun and Zhou Leling, they could have gone wherever they pleased. But with Ji Chenai’s mobility limitations, their options were considerably reduced.

Zhou Yaoyun placed Ji Chenai’s wheelchair in the back seat of the car and drove them to a nearby park. The park had plenty of recreational activities and a pleasant environment, making it a relatively suitable destination.

When they arrived at the amusement park entrance, Zhou Yaoyun parked the car first. Afterward, he pushed Ji Chenai’s wheelchair to the park gates and reminded Zhou Leling not to wander off before heading to the ticket booth.

Since it was the start of the holiday and the weather was pleasantly cool, the park was packed, with long lines at every entrance.

Although Zhou Leling wasn’t particularly fond of Ji Chenai, she stayed put instead of wandering off, keeping her head down as she played on her phone.

Ji Chenai, on the other hand, looked bored. As his eyes scanned the surroundings, he found himself oddly tempted to pick up some litter on the ground. It seemed old habits really did die hard.

While Ji Chenai was lost in thought, a sudden shout startled him.

“Thief!”

He turned his head sharply and saw Zhou Leling, standing not far from him, pointing at a man and yelling.

The man was dressed neatly and wore glasses, hardly fitting the stereotypical image of a thief. But Zhou Leling’s accusation quickly drew the attention of those around them. Flustered and angry, the man snapped, “You crazy b****, what are you screaming about?”

Zhou Leling instinctively took a step back under the man’s glare but stubbornly retorted, “You stole that old man’s money!”

Ji Chenai followed her gaze and noticed a plainly dressed elderly man standing beside the accused. The old man hurriedly intervened, saying, “Young lady, it’s fine, just let it go.”

These days, it wasn’t common to see someone brave enough to call out a thief in public.

The man, emboldened by the elderly victim’s retreat, smirked with a hint of arrogance in his eyes. “You’re accusing me of being a thief? Do you have any proof? Keep running your mouth, and I’ll teach you a lesson!”

As he spoke, several other men stepped forward from the crowd, clearly part of his group.

Zhou Leling froze in place, stammering, “D-don’t you have any respect for the law?”

The man spat on the ground and moved as if to grab Zhou Leling. Just then, a sharp voice rang out:

“Stop!”

Everyone turned to look, their eyes landing on Ji Chenai, seated in his wheelchair.

At first, the man thought the voice belonged to someone who might pose a threat—a man ready to intervene. But upon realizing it came from someone in a wheelchair, he paused, then burst into laughter. “Well, well, this cripple is actually a man? Must be tough for you, little girl!”

The men around him joined in, roaring with laughter.

Zhou Leling’s face turned bright red, tears welling up in her eyes. She glanced around desperately, hoping someone would step forward to help, but no one in the crowd responded to her silent plea.

Finally, her gaze fell on Ji Chenai. Gritting her teeth, she snapped, “What nonsense are you spouting? My brother, even in a wheelchair, is still a hundred times better than a scumbag thief like you!”

Despite being a teenager who didn’t care much for Ji Chenai, Zhou Leling’s conscience couldn’t allow her to stay silent in the face of wrongdoing. After all, she had immediately stood up when she saw the theft, regardless of the potential danger.

Ji Chenai asked calmly, “Xiao Qi, can I activate the skill now?”

Xiao Qi replied, its tone exaggerated, “The negative energy is overflowing! If you don’t use it now, I’m going to explode! Boom!”

Hearing this, Ji Chenai wasted no time and activated “The Thief’s Regret.”

Meanwhile, Zhou Leling stood protectively in front of Ji Chenai, biting her lower lip and glaring fiercely at the group of men, as if she could intimidate them into retreating through sheer determination. But just as she was steeling herself, Ji Chenai gently patted her back and said softly, “Leling, it’s okay now.”

The next moment, Zhou Leling witnessed something she would never forget for the rest of her life.

The men who had just been smug and openly threatening her suddenly dropped to their knees. One after another, they knelt before her, bowing their heads to the ground and crying out, “We’re wrong! We were wrong! We’ll never steal again!”

Zhou Leling, along with the onlookers, was utterly dumbfounded.

Ji Chenai, however, appeared unsurprised by the spectacle. He asked coolly, “What did you do wrong?”

The men sobbed loudly, wailing, “Stealing is despicable! We’re terrible! We were wrong—completely wrong!”

And this was just the beginning.

After their tearful confessions, the men reached into their pockets and pulled out a variety of wallets, placing them on the ground for everyone to see. “These are all the things we’ve stolen. Please, call the police! We deserve it!”

Zhou Leling was so stunned by the scene before her that her mind went completely blank.
