With one precise kick, Ji Chenai struck Lao Si in his most vulnerable spot. The man let out a blood-curdling scream before collapsing unconscious. Thanks to the sheer power of the Invincible Flying Leg, which could easily shatter a brick, crushing a certain sensitive area was practically effortless.
Lao Si’s scream was so anguished and loud that it immediately caught the attention of Big Sister outside the room.
She rushed to the door and called out. “Lao Si, what’s going on?”
Inside the room, Ji Chenai responded weakly, his voice trembling, “Help… someone… save me…”
Big Sister, alarmed, asked. “What happened in there?”
Ji Chenai replied. “Someone broke in and stabbed him…”
Whether it was the lingering effect of the Sunlit Gaze or simply her underestimation of Ji Chenai as a threat, Big Sister didn’t hesitate to believe him. “Where is that person now?” she demanded.
Ji Chenai glanced at the window and said. “They jumped out of the window and escaped…”
“I’ll get the key to open the door!” Big Sister said. Her hurried footsteps retreated, then returned moments later.
Ji Chenai positioned himself beside the door. The moment Big Sister unlocked it and stepped inside, he didn’t hesitate—delivering a powerful kick that sent her flying. The force, capable of breaking stone slabs, hit her squarely, flinging her across the room and into the wall with a sickening thud.
Ji Chenai walked over cautiously to check on her. Big Sister lay motionless, her body limp and unresponsive.
Ji Chenai stared at Big Sister for a moment, then bent down and placed his fingers under her nose. As he expected, the malicious woman no longer had any breath left in her.
When Ji Chenai struck, he didn’t hold back. He harbored no sympathy for people like her.
After confirming her death, he picked up a knife that had fallen nearby and turned toward Lao Si’s room. Only five minutes had passed since he activated his skill, leaving him plenty of time to extract the information he needed.
Lao Si regained consciousness from the pain. The moment his eyes opened, he saw Ji Chenai squatting beside him, staring at him with an emotionless expression. When Lao Si turned his head, he realized his hand had been pinned to the bed with the very knife Ji Chenai now held.
Seeing that Lao Si was awake, Ji Chenai pulled the knife free, then tapped the blade’s flat side against Lao Si’s face. “What’s your boss’s name? Where is this place? And how do we get out?”
Instead of answering, Lao Si opened his mouth and screamed for help. Ji Chenai let him yell twice before smirking. “Before shouting for help, don’t you think you should check whose knife this is?”
Lao Si froze, then recognized the knife. His expression changed instantly, turning to one of desperation. He pleaded. “I don’t know the boss’s name! I’m just a lackey. Please, have mercy!”
Ji Chenai’s voice turned icy. “I’ll ask my questions again. If you don’t answer, I’ll take a finger. If your answer doesn’t satisfy me, you’ll get a cut.”
Terrified, Lao Si immediately fell silent, trembling.
Despite his composed demeanor and unbloodied appearance, Ji Chenai exuded a chilling aura. If not for the blade in his hand and the frostiness in his gaze, no one would have believed he was capable of such actions.
Ji Chenai then instructed Xiao Qi to activate The End of Liars, ensuring he could detect falsehoods.
“First question,” Ji Chenai began. “How do you usually contact your boss?”
Lao Si stammered, “We… we only have a phone number and an account. That’s all I know, I swear!”
Ji Chenai’s eyes narrowed, but he continued. “Where are we? How do I leave this place? And how long until the others return?”
Lao Si replied, “This is the western outskirts. There’s a car at the entrance. Big Sister has the car keys. He… they won’t be back today.”
Ji Chenai understood that Lao Si was just a small-time henchman who didn’t know much. After confirming the phone number and account information, he asked his final question. “Are you really going to cut off my eyes and my tongue?”
Logically, Lao Si would lie if he wanted to save his life. However, under the pressure, he blurted out the truth, “Yes…”
Ji Chenai’s expression hardened. “This isn’t the first time you’ve done something like this, is it? Where did you send the others?”
Lao Si trembled and answered weakly. “I don’t know. Big Sister handled all that. I was just the muscle.”
Ji Chenai glanced toward the door, suddenly regretting killing Big Sister. She clearly knew much more than Lao Si.
But now, the questions Ji Chenai wanted answers to had all been asked. He looked down at the knife in his hand. “I’m not going to kill you.”
Lao Si let out a relieved sigh, his body sagging with exhaustion. The bloodstains in his pants were growing, and his face was as pale as a corpse.
Ji Chenai tossed his phone at Lao Si. “Call the police and an ambulance yourself. Speak carefully, or…” He left the threat hanging in the air.
Lao Si didn’t dare to say anything more. With a trembling voice, he called the police and an ambulance for himself.
After he finished the call, Ji Chenai suddenly smiled. “Well, it’s my first time doing something like this, so I was a bit nervous. I’ll leave your eyes for you.”
Lao Si’s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to comprehend what Ji Chenai had just said.
Ji Chenai smiled at him again before swinging the knife down sharply.
During all of this, Xiao Qi remained silent, seemingly accepting Ji Chenai’s actions. It quietly watched as Ji Chenai rendered Lao Si incapable of speech or writing, then followed Ji Chenai as he hummed a cheerful tune while cleaning the blood off his hands. Afterward, Ji Chenai found a damp cloth in the room, carefully wiped the fingerprints off the knife, and placed it back near Big Sister’s body.
After finishing everything, only about forty minutes had passed. Based on the location Lao Si mentioned, Ji Chenai estimated that the police would arrive in about ten minutes. He sat on the warehouse floor, suddenly craving a cigarette.
He said, “Xiao Qi, I’m so tired.” The mosquitoes had kept him up all night, and with all the worries about himself, he hadn’t been able to sleep.
Xiao Qi replied, “Why don’t you take a nap?”
Ji Chenai murmured in agreement and lay down on the floor, quickly drifting off to a deep, exhausted sleep.
When the police arrived, they were shocked by the crime scene. A woman had died instantly from a severe blow, her internal organs ruptured. The other human trafficker had been mutilated, his body reduced to something almost unrecognizable.
When he was taken away by the ambulance, he stared wide-eyed and wailed, but without a tongue, he couldn’t say a word.
The police found Ji Chenai in the warehouse. He had many visible injuries, so most assumed he had been tortured and had passed out from the pain. They immediately called an ambulance and took him as well.
Ji Chenai remained deeply asleep, unaware when they moved him.
The police also discovered several women and children locked in a room. After questioning, they learned that these individuals had been trafficked. The women, who had long lost hope of rescue, were shocked to find the police had come just in time to free them from their hellish situation.
Ji Chenai slept soundly, seemingly unaffected by the gruesome scene he had left behind.
After the police conducted their investigation at the scene, they concluded that the human trafficker group had fallen into internal conflict, and the culprit had escaped—there seemed to be no other reasonable explanation.
Although Ji Chenai’s presence at the scene was suspicious, no one believed that a young man with disabilities and a frail frame like his could have committed the crime. Moreover, the cause of the eldest sister’s death was an unsolvable mystery—she had been struck violently in the chest, causing her internal organs to rupture. The force was so great that her sternum had shattered into pieces.
However, after thoroughly searching the warehouse, no weapon was found that could explain the fatal blow. In the end, the police saw no point in delving further into the case, especially since the woman had died due to internal conflict.
Zhou Yaoyun stayed by Ji Chenai’s side in the hospital, waiting for him to wake up.
When Ji Chenai opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Zhou Yaoyun sitting beside him, lost in thought. He looked down at his body and realized that all his wounds had been bandaged.
Zhou Yaoyun asked. “Brother, you’re awake. Are you feeling okay?”
Ji Chenai suddenly leaned into Zhou Yaoyun’s arms and hugged him tightly. He said in a voice full of distress. “Xiao Yun, I thought I was going to die.”
Zhou Yaoyun comforted him gently, saying. “Brother, don’t be afraid. I’ll protect you.”
Just as the two were speaking, a man in police uniform walked into the room. He said. “Sorry to interrupt, I’m from the police station, here to conduct an investigation.”
Ji Chenai was still trembling as he said. “Help, Xiao Yun, I’m so scared.”
Zhou Yaoyun gave the officer a puzzled look and said. “Couldn’t you have waited a couple of days to ask?”
The officer smiled apologetically and replied. “Sorry, it’s just that the authorities have been pushing for this matter…”
Ji Chenai, still shaking, pulled away from Zhou Yaoyun’s embrace slightly, revealing eyes full of tears. His eyes were filled with terror, making anyone who saw them feel an overwhelming sense of sympathy. He said, “You… you can ask now.”
The officer began asking some routine questions, and Ji Chenai answered them all. He didn’t answer many directly, most of the time appearing confused and frightened, as if he had really lost consciousness and knew nothing about what happened.
After asking the questions, the officer thanked him and left.
Once the officer was gone, Ji Chenai gradually stopped putting on the pitiful expression.
Zhou Yaoyun asked, “Brother, what’s wrong?”
Ji Chenai hesitated for a moment before shaking his head. He didn’t want to drag Zhou Yaoyun into this.
Not long after the man left, Xu Yidai, who had helped Zhou Yaoyun at the police station, appeared and asked. “How is your Brother Zhou?”
Zhou Yaoyun: “He’s okay.”
Xu Yidai: “If you have time, you should go to the station and give a statement. This might be a bigger deal than expected.”
Zhou Yaoyun froze for a moment. “Wasn’t someone already there to take a statement?”
Xu Yidai looked puzzled. “What are you talking about?”
Then, the two of them fell into silence for a few seconds before realizing what the other meant— the person who had come to take the statement wasn’t a police officer at all.
