Xiao Qi was a system that took action immediately—it was all about getting things done. By the second week of Ji Chenai’s school life, it had already started urging him to tutor Lu Yuyu.
Among all her subjects, math was Lu Yuyu’s worst. While her other subjects were relatively balanced, her math scores were so catastrophic that they could give her teachers a stroke. After reviewing two of her test papers, Ji Chenai confirmed that her mathematical thinking was indeed… lacking.
Before his rebirth, Ji Chenai had been a science major, consistently ranking in the top ten of his grade. However, after his rebirth, Wang Zhixiu worried that he might struggle with science, so she placed him in a liberal arts class instead. With enough rote memorization, he still had a shot at getting into college.
But now that Ji Chenai had Xiao Qi, the distinction between arts and sciences no longer mattered. Xiao Qi helped him memorize things for liberal arts and calculate for science. In fact, science was even easier—after all, as long as the calculations were correct, the answers were always right.
Ji Chenai borrowed a few of Lu Yuyu’s test papers and carefully analyzed where her weaknesses lay. After a week of research—and a fair amount of nudging from Xiao Qi—he finally started tutoring her.
Of course, at first, he didn’t call it tutoring. Instead, he used the excuse of asking her for help.
“Lu Yuyu, take a look at this question,” Ji Chenai said. “Does my reasoning make sense?” Then, he proceeded to explain the entire problem-solving process.
Lu Yuyu, chewing on the end of her pen, listened intently and nodded along. By the time he finished, she was nodding so vigorously it looked like she was pounding rice with her head.
“Oh, oh! That makes so much sense! Why didn’t I think of that?”
Math, at its core, required talent to truly master. But if the goal was simply to pass? A brute-force approach of endless practice questions would do just fine.
Lu Yuyu’s class had more than eighty students, so the teacher couldn’t possibly cater to everyone’s individual needs. As a result, some problems were simply skipped over during the test review, leaving certain concepts unclear for her.
Once or twice wasn’t a big deal, but after it happened enough times, even someone as clueless as Lu Yuyu started to notice.
She turned to Ji Chenai and asked in amazement, “Zhou Yaoqin, you’re incredible! Are you sure you’ve never been to school before?”
Ji Chenai casually nodded. “Yep. Never.”
Lu Yuyu stared at him. “But you’re getting all these questions right… You’re probably going to ace the monthly exam, huh?”
Ji Chenai just smiled without answering. He had no intention of letting Xiao Qi cheat for him during the test.
Sitting in front of Lu Yuyu was Zhang Xiao, who had never been fond of Lu Yuyu, the oddball of their class. She often made snide remarks and was especially vocal whenever she saw Lu Yuyu explaining problems to Ji Chenai.
Fortunately, Lu Yuyu had a good temper, and Ji Chenai couldn’t be bothered to argue with Zhang Xiao. After realizing she was getting no reaction, Zhang Xiao eventually lost interest and stopped talking to them altogether.
Every afternoon, Ji Chenai would find an empty classroom to tutor Lu Yuyu, going over the day’s math problems with her. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to do well—she just genuinely didn’t understand. With Ji Chenai patiently explaining things, she was more than happy to listen. Over time, the two grew closer.
Ji Chenai had been in the class for over ten days, but he barely knew more than ten people. It wasn’t surprising—his classmates hardly ever talked. Even during breaks, most of them were diligently working on their homework or memorizing their notes.
This was simply the norm for high school life, and Ji Chenai quickly got used to it.
After discovering that Ji Chenai was actually a hidden academic genius, Lu Yuyu happily latched onto him. As a token of appreciation for his tutoring, she started bringing him breakfast every morning.
If Ji Chenai ever had trouble with other subjects, she was more than willing to help explain things to him in return.
Somehow, though, rumors started spreading around the class that the two of them were dating. The gossip spread so much that even the homeroom teacher called Ji Chenai in for a talk.
Faced with the teacher’s questioning, Ji Chenai remained calm. “I’m just helping Lu Yuyu with math.”
The homeroom teacher frowned. “Didn’t you say you’ve never been to school before?”
Ji Chenai nodded. “That’s true, but I’ve been studying textbooks at home.”
The teacher didn’t say anything further. Instead, he turned to the math teacher and requested an old monthly exam paper. Placing it in front of Ji Chenai, he tapped the page with his finger.
“Complete this,” he instructed.
Ji Chenai glanced over the paper, said nothing, and simply got to work.
The test wasn’t particularly difficult. Aside from using Xiao Qi as a calculator for some of the more complex calculations, he solved everything on his own.
In less than an hour, he placed the completed exam in front of the teacher.
That afternoon, there happened to be two consecutive self-study periods. The homeroom teacher had assumed that Ji Chenai would take at least until dismissal to finish the test. But to their surprise, he had completed it so quickly—and the entire paper was filled out neatly.
Still skeptical, the teacher handed the exam to the math teacher sitting behind them. The math teacher quickly graded it, his pen flying across the page. When he finished, he looked up and said, “Li, this student is impressive. Are you sure he’s never been to school before?”
The homeroom teacher took the test back and saw a big, bold, red “150” at the top— a perfect score.
At that moment, they finally believed Ji Chenai’s claim that he was tutoring Lu Yuyu.
Ji Chenai added, “Teacher, I’m not very strong in liberal arts, but science has never been a problem for me. Lu Yuyu and I complement each other in that regard. Also, even though I look young, I am an adult. I know what’s appropriate and what isn’t.”
The homeroom teacher nodded. “Alright. I understand.”
Leaning on his crutch, Ji Chenai left the office. Just as he stepped out, he ran into Zhang Xiao passing by. She smirked when she saw him.
“What did the teacher call you in for?” she asked with a grin.
Ji Chenai glanced at her, said nothing, and walked away.
Back in the classroom, Lu Yuyu was also curious. “What did the teacher want to talk about?” she asked.
Ji Chenai replied casually, “Oh, just told us to study hard, help each other out, and get into a good university as soon as possible—to set an example for our juniors.”
Lu Yuyu burst into laughter. “I thought you were here to comfort me, but now that you’re here, I’m still dead last. So tragic…”
Ji Chenai couldn’t help but laugh as well. “The exam hasn’t even happened yet. Who knows what your rank will be?”
During his time at school, Ji Chenai had been earning energy points by browsing the internet every day. But after a while, he noticed something strange—the kind of morally twisted posts he used to see had almost completely disappeared. Posts where victims were blamed while criminals were sympathized with? Almost nonexistent. People who used to post content about abusing small animals? Vanished without a trace.
For a while, the internet had become too peaceful, and Ji Chenai wasn’t happy about it at all.
Some hired internet trolls who had previously been affected by his influence even started anonymously complaining. They claimed that for a certain period, it was as if they had been possessed—one moment they’d be writing fake posts, and the next, they’d start exposing their own clients. As a result, businesses stopped hiring trolls altogether, terrified that their dirty secrets would be leaked.
Ji Chenai stared at the post, utterly heartbroken.
If the trolls stopped posting, where was he supposed to earn his energy points now?!
Xiao Qi, of course, couldn’t care less about Ji Chenai’s dilemma. It nagged him for energy points every single day, acting no different from a relentless debt collector.
Lu Yuyu burst into laughter. “I thought you were here to comfort me, but even with you around, I’m still dead last. How tragic…”
Ji Chenai couldn’t help but chuckle. “The exam hasn’t even happened yet. Who knows what your ranking will be?”

But after a while, he noticed something strange—the kind of morally corrupt posts he used to see had almost disappeared. Posts where victims were blamed while criminals were sympathized with? Almost nonexistent. Content featuring people abusing small animals? Completely wiped out.

Some of the hired internet trolls who had unknowingly been affected by his influence even started complaining under anonymous accounts. They claimed that, for a period of time, it felt like they had been possessed—one moment they were fabricating posts, and the next, they found themselves spilling all their clients’ dirty secrets. The result? No one dared to hire trolls anymore, afraid their shady dealings would be exposed.
Ji Chenai stared at the post, utterly heartbroken.
If the trolls stopped posting, where was he supposed to earn his energy points now?!
Xiao Qi, of course, didn’t care in the slightest. It hounded him for energy points every single day, acting just like a relentless debt collector.
Before the exam, Ji Chenai would always highlight key points for Lu Yuyu, especially the types of questions that were almost guaranteed to appear. For certain math problems, he even repeated them multiple times to make sure she remembered. After all, there were only so many types of math questions—most of the time, only the numbers changed. After hearing Ji Chenai drill the same points over and over, Lu Yuyu eventually memorized them.
When Lu Yuyu finally did well on a test, she provided Ji Chenai with over twenty points of positive energy. If this had been in the past, he might have been a little happy about it. But now, staring at his experience bar sitting at over 500,000 points, he barely reacted—completely unfazed.
After the exam, Lu Yuyu treated Ji Chenai to dinner as a thank-you and even promised that if her scores improved again next time, she’d take him out for a big meal.
After finishing dinner, the two chatted about random things for a while before Ji Chenai decided it was time to head home.
Lu Yuyu walked him to the bus stop before turning back toward the school.
As Ji Chenai stood there waiting for the bus, he suddenly heard a voice call out.
“Hey, classmate, do you study here?”
He turned toward the voice—only to see someone he never expected to run into.
Xu Yunchong.
A person who was supposed to be far, far away.
Because of Xiao Qi, Ji Chenai had only ever seen this face on screens—whether on the light curtain or the TV. But now, this person was standing right in front of him, smiling and greeting him like it was the most natural thing in the world?
Ji Chenai froze for only a fraction of a second before his expression returned to normal. “What’s up?”
Xu Yunchong asked, “Is this No. 1 High School?”
Ji Chenai nodded.
Xu Yunchong studied him for a moment before speaking again, his tone gentle. “Have we met before?”
Not a single flicker of emotion crossed Ji Chenai’s face. He replied calmly, “Are you a celebrity? I feel like I’ve seen you on TV before…”
Xu Yunchong didn’t seem surprised by the answer. Instead, he gave a subtle smile. “My name is Xu Yunchong. May I ask yours?”
“Zhou Yaoqin,” Ji Chenai answered smoothly. “Are you here looking for someone?”
Xu Yunchong let out a quiet “Mhm” and nodded. “Yes, I am.”
