After a few moments of silence, Ji Chenai turned to Zhou Yaoyun and said, “Call the police.”
Zhou Yaoyun looked at Ji Chenai in surprise and asked, “Call the police? Brother? Why?”
Ji Chenai explained, “I’ve seen that girl online; it seems she was abducted and sold. I didn’t expect to see her here.”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yaoyun followed Ji Chenai’s gaze and spotted the girl. With a furrowed brow, he swiftly took out his phone without hesitation.
In recent years, the police have shown increased concern over cases of human trafficking. Upon receiving Zhou Yaoyun’s call, the operator swiftly requested the location and assured that help would arrive soon.
After ending the call, Zhou Yaoyun remarked, “Human traffickers these days are truly despicable.”
Ji Chenai glanced at the little girl in the distance and responded with a calm and indifferent “hmm.”
Xiao Qi, clearly unhappy with Ji Chenai’s attitude and said. “Why aren’t you angry at all? You should have been very furious.”
Ji Chenai replied, “How would I know? Why am I not angry?” Since his resurrection, it felt like something was missing within him. Even though Xiao Qi insisted, he couldn’t muster much emotion.
Xiao Qi couldn’t help but notice Ji Chenai’s distant expression. He ha chosen Ji Chenai because he had observed him for a long time and confirmed that he was someone willing to do good. But why had Ji Chenai changed so much after his rebirth? Humans…they’re truly hard to understand…
The police arrived promptly, and upon seeing the woman, they quickly grasped the situation. Zhou Yaoyun nudged Ji Chenai forward.
The woman’s voice rang out loudly and sharply. “Officer, my daughter and I can’t survive without begging. How can we? And what about those traffickers losing their own children and grandchildren?”
The police, seeing so many people like this, were not moved at all. When they saw Zhou Yaoyun coming over, they said, “Are you the one who called the police?”
Zhou Yaoyun nodded and confirmed, “Yes, it was me.”
The officer continued, “You mentioned seeing a photo of this little girl online, correct?”
Ji Chenai interjected, “Yes, I’ve seen it before.” He had no doubt about Xiao Qi’s judgment; after all, Xiao Qi had already been involved in too many mysteries and miracles.
The woman quickly grasped the situation and realized that Ji Chenai and Zhou Yaoyun were causing trouble. She angrily retorted, “What nonsense are you talking about? This is my child. Aren’t you afraid of getting hit by a car if you falsely report to the police?”
Upon hearing this, anger flashed across Zhou Yaoyun’s face, but Ji Chenai calmly waved his hand and said, “Officer, her accusations are baseless. Let’s take her to the police station for further investigation.”
The police officer glanced at the little girl sitting quietly on the ground and at the woman who continued to curse. They nodded and asked, “Can you provide the website where you found her photo online?”
Ji Chenai asked Xiao Qi silently in his mind. “Is there any information about this little girl online?”
Three seconds later, Xiao Qi responded excitedly, “I’ve found it. The little girl is from Z County! Her father’s name is…” Without hesitation, Xiao Qi relayed all the information about the little girl, including her phone number, to Ji Chenai.
