Positive Energy System Chapter 8 part 3

Upon hearing this information, Ji Chenai remained silent. The woman, thinking he was bluffing, shouted, “Police officer, take me away! No one cares about us. My daughter’s father hasn’t received his compensation for his work-related injury, and our petitions have been rejected. Is that fair? I have to keep going, I have to!”

The mention of petitions made the police officer visibly uncomfortable. He asked again, “Ma’am, if you remember the website, please send it to us…” Finding families of abducted children remained challenging despite technological advancements. Young children often couldn’t recall details, and their appearances could change over time.

Ignoring the woman’s cries, Ji Chenai instructed the police, “Try calling this number,” and provided the little girl’s father’s phone number.

The police were surprised and quickly dialed the phone number provided by Ji Chenai. Meanwhile, the woman’s expression turned grim.

The person who answered the phone was a man. Upon hearing the police’s explanation, he was so overwhelmed with emotion that he could barely speak clearly. Nevertheless, his words confirmed Ji Chenai’s report to the police.

Realizing something was amiss, the woman attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police. Knowing escape was futile, she glared at Ji Chenai with hatred, her mouth spewing curses.

Ji Chenai met her gaze, a subtle smile on his lips. He said, “Auntie, reflect on your actions in prison and strive to reform for an early release.”

The woman was so furious that she trembled all over, wanting to lunge at Ji Chenai, but the police held her back tightly.

At that moment, the previously silent little girl began to cry softly. Like a small kitten, she struggled to rise from the ground, stumbled over to Ji Chenai’s side, and clung tightly to his legs.

Her hair and body were visibly dirty and unkempt, indicating she had endured hardship. Ji Chenai looked down at her and gently reached out to stroke her head, saying, “It’s okay, you’re safe now.”

Since the arrival of the police, a crowd had gathered around Ji Chenai, overhearing their conversation and speculating on what might have transpired. Now, witnessing Ji Chenai comfort the little girl, some began taking photos with their phones.

Zhou Yaoyun observed Ji Chenai and the little girl, and his initially angry expression softened.

The little girl clung tightly to Ji Chenai’s legs, refusing to let go. She sobbed and stammered, calling out for her mother amidst a wave of sadness. Zhou Yaoyun couldn’t bear to see her in distress and knelt to comfort her.

In the end, two more police officers arrived and escorted the woman and the little girl back to the police station.

The little girl, exhausted from crying, collapsed into the arms of a police officer and fell asleep. Her pitiful appearance was heart-wrenching to witness.

Ji Chenai watched as the little girl and the police walked away, then said, “Let’s go back.”

Zhou Yaoyun nodded thoughtfully and gently urged Ji Chenai toward home. As they walked, he remarked, “Brother, today wouldn’t have turned out well without you. That little girl would have suffered even more.”

Ji Chenai remained silent, simply smiling in response.

Zhou Yaoyun continued, “Some people are truly evil and frightening. They’ll do anything for profit.”

Ji Chenai glanced down at his feet and replied calmly, “Probably because the consequences of doing something evil are too lenient.”
