Chapter 31: Let Her Go

Anyone with eyes could see who was at fault.

Bai Qi and the others sighed, their boss had really fallen.

He had completely fallen for that little girl.

He spent the entire afternoon drowning himself in alcohol, yet he still remembered to call her.

“Did you eat?”

Upon receiving a negative answer, Lu Beiyan poured himself another drink, repeating the vicious cycle.

His brothers finally couldn’t stand it anymore.

When he called again for the nth time, Bai Qi snatched the phone away.

Lu Beiyan, already drunk, glared at him: “Give me back the phone, Ranran hasn’t eaten!”

But he was too drunk to have any strength, only retaining a sliver of consciousness.

After snatching the phone, Bai Qi said, “I’ll put your lady of the house on the phone.”

Jinju had been listening to the CEO’s calls all afternoon, all asking if Shi Ran had eaten. This time, it was a different man’s voice, presumably Dr. Bai Qi.

She knocked on the door, but there was still no response.

Several times, she wanted to tell Miss Shi Ran that the CEO kept asking if she had eaten.

But Miss Shi Ran said that unless it was about Lu Beiyan letting her go, she shouldn’t be disturbed.

“Wow! That’s amazing! He wasn’t drunk after drinking that much.”

Shi Ran, upon receiving the news, immediately got up, wolfed down dinner, and immediately left with her small suitcase from that morning.

Lu Beiyan was furious when he found out.

She wanted to leave me that much?

“Hello.”

“Where are you?”

Shi Ran checked her phone calendar, confirming it was only the second day, not the agreed-upon third day.

“The market.” She could only answer truthfully.

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds, making Shi Ran almost think the other person had hung up. She had just finished buying groceries and walked out of the market, and it was much quieter now.

So quiet that she could hear his breathing through the receiver.

This sound was too familiar to her.

Shi Ran’s scalp tingled. What was Lu Beiyan doing?

“Ranran.”

“Call me by my name, I want to hear it.”

The other end repeated it impatiently. Shi Ran took a deep breath and resignedly called his name.

“Beiyan!”

“Beiyan!”

She didn’t know how many times she called his name.

Until she heard a sigh on the other end.

Shi Ran knew this ridiculous game was finally over.

She really wanted to hang up. How could Lu Beiyan be like this, how could he make her feel so humiliated all the time?

“Do you have anything else?” She blurted it out.

The sound of flushing came from the other end. “You’re so heartless. Did you miss me these past two days?”

Miss you? Why would I miss you?

“Mm.”

With a wet wipe in his hand, he heard the perfunctory “mm,” and sneered inwardly, she’s such a bad actress!

However, as long as she said she missed him, that’s all that mattered.

“Come to my office this afternoon?” He walked out of the bathroom in his office, sat at the sandalwood desk, and calmly swiped his mouse to handle his work, his mind filled with all sorts of dirty thoughts.

“No!” Shi Ran almost instinctively refused.

The words “you can find other women” almost slipped out again, but she hadn’t forgotten how angry Lu Beiyan was the last time she said that.
