Chapter 16: Can You Bear It a Little Longer? I Will Not Entangle You
The night in Beijing was already quite cold in early winter, with the temperature dropping and signs of snowfall approaching.
Yan Man tightened her coat and went straight down the stairs.
Hearing footsteps behind her, she didn’t look back until she was stopped by someone grabbing her wrist in the courtyard on the first floor.
“Yan Man.”
Tan Qishen’s voice was cold as he called her name, “Are you angry?”
His tone was certain, and when he heard Yan Man say she was leaving just now, he felt an unexpected excitement in his heart.
Tan Qishen had hurried out, wearing only a shirt without a coat, and he stared at her directly. “Those people—”
Tan Qishen didn’t know why, but he felt the need to explain that the women were invited by Jiang Linjin, and had nothing to do with him. However, before he could say much, he heard Yan Man say:
“I am angry. With so many people present, what if our relationship is exposed? I really don’t want it to be public.”
That was Yan Man’s first reaction.
Most of the people inside were public figures from the entertainment industry or supermodels, some of whom even knew her.
If it was a relationship that was bound to end, there was no need for everyone to know.
Tan Qishen’s eyes darkened like the dim and endless night. He loosened his grip on her wrist. “Are you angry because of this?”
Why didn’t Yan Man feel jealous?
She obviously liked him so much, and if she saw a group of women surrounding him, even trying to feed him alcohol, she should have reacted differently.
Yan Man looked at him and lightly asked, “Otherwise?”
Although she was Tan Qishen’s official girlfriend, it seemed she had no position to get angry, as she was the one who had persistently insisted on having a relationship with him.
As long as there was no betrayal, both mentally and physically, she could accept it.
“I don’t blame you. I know you don’t like me.”
Yan Man lowered her head, her voice a little lonely.
“There are still five months until the end of the agreement. Can you bear it a little longer? I will not entangle you.”
Yan Man had made up her mind.
Only five months left.
After that, they would break up.
Although she would be reluctant, after all, it was hard to meet someone like Tan Qingshuo again, and it was difficult to find a man who was so compatible with her in bed.
This sentence was painful for Yan Man to say.
Hearing this, Tan Qishen’s breath became heavier, filled with anger.
Strange, in the past, it was always him who brought up ending the agreement.
Why was Yan Man bringing it up now? It didn’t sit right with him.
Tan Qishen clenched his fist, lifted his eyes, and his cold gaze fixed on her.
He wanted to ask her if she felt jealous, but the words were stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t say them. His face darkened even more.
A black Rolls Royce stopped smoothly about two meters away from the two of them, its headlights cutting through the dim night.
Uncle Nan got out from the passenger seat. He wasn’t sure whether the two of them had just had an argument, or if it was just Tan Qishen’s one-sided discomfort.
He smiled and greeted Yan Man, “Miss Yan, what a coincidence to meet you here.”
Yan Man politely smiled and nodded.
Before Uncle Nan could open the car door, Tan Qishen opened the rear door himself and sat inside. The door slammed shut with a loud ‘bang.’
Uncle Nan’s smile froze.
It was bad; the young master was starting to act up again.
He instinctively looked at Yan Man’s face.
Worse, Miss Yan didn’t seem to have a good expression either.
Miss Yan usually comforted the young master when he acted this way, but today, she didn’t respond at all.
Yan Man was confused. She had already said she would break up after the agreement was over, so why was Tan Qishen not happy but rather angry?
“Uncle Nan, get in the car.”
Tan Qishen didn’t look sideways, his face hidden in shadow, with only a crack in the car window. His dark eyes were somber, and his brow furrowed with a hint of annoyance.
Uncle Nan hesitated and looked at Yan Man, “Miss Yan…”
Yan Man didn’t even glance at Tan Qishen. She pointed to the opposite direction where Shen Jie and the driver assigned by her company hadn’t left.
“I drove here.”
Tan Qishen’s eyes grew colder. It seemed like if Uncle Nan didn’t get in the car soon, Tan Qishen might leave him behind as well.
“Get in the car.”
His tone became heavier.
Uncle Nan sighed and said, “Miss Yan, please be careful.”
Yan Man nodded.
After Uncle Nan sat in the passenger seat, Yan Man watched the car drive past her without stopping.
Around 10 p.m., snowflakes began to fall unexpectedly, landing on Yan Man’s long hair and coat.
Although they vanished quickly, they still left traces behind.
It seemed like this was their first silent treatment.
In the past, if Tan Qishen was this angry, Yan Man would have comforted him by now.
But for some reason, Yan Man didn’t want to compromise tonight.
Shen Jie saw that Yan Man was left alone and quickly had the driver come over.
She thought Yan Man was going to leave with Tan Qishen, but to her surprise, Tan Qishen left Yan Man and left alone.
Shen Jie clenched her fist in anger, “Tan Qishen actually left you here.”
The driver opened the door, and Yan Man sat in the backseat, escaping the snowflakes, as warmth quickly enveloped her.
Yan Man had long gotten used to Tan Qishen’s mood swings. She smiled faintly, “Isn’t there still you?”
Shen Jie softly asked, “How did the meeting with Director Hu go?”
Yan Man softly responded with a “Mm.”
“Then tonight… Are we still going to Baiyue?” Shen Jie hesitated.
Yan Man leaned against the seat and slowly closed her eyes, her long eyelashes like butterfly wings.
Strangely, whenever she closed her eyes, she saw the scene with so many women in the room.
Sarah, who was called Tan Qishen’s girlfriend by Chu Yiling, sat next to him, smiling at him.
Around him were countless beautiful women, even trying to feed him alcohol.
Yan Man’s brows involuntarily furrowed. After a few seconds, she replied, “No, let’s go back to the West City district.”
She only occasionally went to Baiyue, but she always lived in a villa in the West City district.
Most people thought it was a house she rented, including Luo Xi and Shen Jie.
But no one knew that not only that villa, but all the villas in the entire neighborhood were under Yan Man’s name.
“Okay.”
The silver Maybach changed direction and headed toward the West City district.
Halfway through the journey, Yan Man’s phone suddenly rang.
It was Wen Moxing calling.
Yan Man answered the phone, placing it to her ear, and softly asked, “What’s wrong, Xingxing?”
Wen Moxing’s voice was irritable, “Don’t even mention it, I ran into my idiot ex-boyfriend.”
“You came to Beijing?” Yan Man immediately realized.
“Yeah, but I’ve already gone back. I couldn’t stay in Beijing any longer.”
“Oh.”
She was about to suggest meeting her tonight.
“Yi Yi, what’s wrong? You don’t sound very upbeat.” Even though it was through the phone, Wen Moxing immediately noticed Yan Man’s distracted mood.
“It’s nothing, just too busy today.”
Indeed, Yan Man had been running around all day. She had just finished the French fashion show in the morning, took a flight back to Beijing in the afternoon, attended a dinner in the evening, and now Tan Qishen was still angry with her.
