Chapter 36: Don’t Block Me Again from Now On
Tan Qishen walked over to Yan Man and tried to put his arm around her shoulders, but she sidestepped to avoid him.
Yan Man cursed in her heart — damn bastard.
She had actually been nervous just now, worried that Tan Qishen might throw a tantrum and leave after she got upset. That would’ve been really embarrassing for her.
Luckily, he still had a bit of conscience and came to coax her.
She truly felt wronged — this was a complete misunderstanding.
In a dejected and helpless voice, Yan Man gave a bitter chuckle. “You don’t trust me.”
She sniffled, her voice sounding off. When Tan Qishen heard that, his expression changed. He crouched down to look her in the eye and saw her eyes slightly red, tears about to fall.
Panic flickered in his heart.
He’d made her cry.
No matter how excessive he had been in the past, Yan Man had never cried before.
Tan Qishen ignored her resistance and pulled her into his arms, gently patting her back. “This time, I was wrong.”
Lying on his shoulder, Yan Man’s tears stopped. She thought to herself — not just this time, you’re always in the wrong.
Honestly, those few days of acting classes with Teacher Liang really worked.
Even Tan Qishen was fooled.
“How can I make it up to you?” Tan Qishen softened his tone, though there was a hint of awkwardness.
He had no experience comforting women and had no idea how to make Yan Man happy, so he just asked the dumbest way possible.
Yan Man didn’t respond.
So Tan Qishen just waited there in silence.
So this is what it feels like to coax someone…
He even remembered how he had foolishly wanted to make her angry last time. What a painful mistake.
Yan Man lay on his shoulder, quietly sobbing for a while. She also wanted to give him a way out. After all, she couldn’t be as unreasonable as he was. Taking things too far wouldn’t be good either.
Lifting her head, her nose slightly red and her lashes trembling with misty eyes, she looked like she’d been terribly wronged.
Seeing her like that made Tan Qishen’s heart melt.
Then she said, “Promise me one thing.”
Tan Qishen gently wiped away her tears with his fingers and replied sincerely, “Anything. Just say it.”
Without thinking, Yan Man blurted out, “Don’t block me ever again.”
Getting blocked by Tan Qishen was really annoying.
She’d have to keep borrowing other people’s phones to call him, like playing a blind box — never knowing when he might actually pick up.
The waiting was excruciating.
“Okay.”
Tan Qishen nodded. He always kept his word. From now on, he would never block her again.
Yan Man buried her face into the crook of his neck again, clinging to him like usual. Her warm breath spilled across his skin, tickling his neck.
“Not mad anymore?” Tan Qishen held her and cautiously asked.
She hummed softly in response.
Tan Qishen relaxed, feeling refreshed and invigorated.
As expected, Yan Man still loves me too much.
One round of coaxing, and everything’s fine again.
Yan Man lifted her face slightly from his neck. “I still have a night scene to shoot. Are you going to leave, or…”
Before she could finish, Tan Qishen cut in, “What do you think?”
His eyes were deep and possessive, strong yet tender. Did she really think he’d drive all this way only to leave right away?
Especially since they hadn’t seen each other in nearly a week.
Yan Man caught the desire in his gaze, so she lowered her head with feigned shyness and muttered, “Can you stop having dirty thoughts all the time?”
Tan Qishen chuckled, eyes lowered, helplessly asking, “What did I even say?”
He hadn’t said anything at all.
Yan Man’s ears turned red. He really hadn’t said anything — she was just overthinking it.
Still, it would be a waste not to make use of a man who showed up at her door.
Yan Man picked up her bag from the side, pulled out a thin card, and pushed it into Tan Qishen’s chest. Her gaze was sultry and alluring, and her voice soft and teasing: “Wait for me.”
That one sentence carried countless unspoken meanings.
Tan Qishen took the card and opened his palm to look. It was the keycard to Yan Man’s hotel room.
Yan Man didn’t stay long in the trailer before she had to go film her night scene.
Just before she left, Tan Qishen grabbed her hand. His tone wasn’t cold, but it wasn’t warm either. “Stay away from that guy.”
“Who?” Yan Man didn’t catch on.
Tan Qishen wasn’t sure if he had even remembered the guy’s name, so he stayed silent and let her guess.
It wasn’t hard to figure out. In the entire film, the only man who had a romantic storyline with her was that one.
Yan Man teased him on purpose. “He has a name, you know — Lin Yi…”
Tan Qishen’s gaze darkened and he cut her off, his half-smile filled with hidden threat. “Yan Man, are you sure you want to keep talking?”
If it weren’t for how dedicated she was to her job and her love of acting, he could’ve arranged for that night scene to be canceled on the spot.
“…”
Yan Man took the hint and backed down immediately.
“Okay, I’ll stay away from him.”
Maybe it was the thought of someone waiting for her back at the hotel, but Yan Man’s night scene went exceptionally smoothly. Director Hu even praised her repeatedly, saying she was born to be an actress.
After filming, the cast returned to their hotel together.
The lead actors all had premium rooms — the best-view presidential suites on the top floor.
On that floor, aside from Yan Man, only Lin Yiyang and Qian Yi were staying there too.
Yan Man was used to only carrying one keycard — and that one was already with Tan Qishen. So now she had to sneak back like a thief, checking the hallway for anyone passing by.
Once she saw it was clear, she quickly knocked on the door.
Thankfully, the door opened fast, and she didn’t have to wait long.
The next thing she knew, she was yanked inside. The door slammed shut with a “bang.”
The room was completely dark. For some reason, Tan Qishen hadn’t turned on the lights.
Still, he managed to find her lips precisely — Yan Man had to admit, that was impressive.
