Chapter 7: What Did Miss Yan Do to Offend You Again?

The entire fashion venue had been set up. The runway was bright and clean, and the air carried a rich floral fragrance.

The lights dimmed in the viewing area, focusing all the spotlights on the runway.

“Mr. Tan, Mr. Jiang, please have a seat.”

The French coordinator bowed slightly and guided the two men to their central front-row seats closest to the runway.

Though the audience seating was divided on both sides of the venue, the arrangement was far from casual. VIPs like Tan Qishen and Jiang Linjin were seated in the best viewing zone—broad, clear sightlines to take in the full effect of every model’s catwalk.

The entire venue had a black-and-pink theme. The overhead lights floated like drifting clouds, giving the place a hazy, mysterious atmosphere.

Tan Qishen sat silently. In the dim light, his features appeared chiseled and deep, the cold hues shadowing his unreadable expression.

The host’s introduction was brief, spoken fluently in both Chinese and French:

“Welcome to the GV fashion show. We’re about to present you with a spectacular feast of style and creativity. Today, we’re honored to showcase the works of top designers and models from around the globe, revealing the latest in fashion trends and elegance.”

“First, we will present a series designed by Ms. Louise.”

After the host exited, the lighting dimmed further, leaving only the runway illuminated. A rhythmic musical accompaniment followed—ethereal percussion, deep and seductive beats.

Tan Qishen crossed his long legs lazily and leaned back in his chair, his eyes dark as ink. He lifted his gaze toward the start of the runway.

Jiang Linjin, however, didn’t look at the stage. He looked at Tan Qishen.

He chuckled under his breath.

“Don’t tell me you’re here for the fashion when we all know it’s for the model.”

His friend never even showed this much focus during shareholder meetings.

Tough guy on the outside, soft all the way through.

Jiang, having been through this himself, knew Tan’s ‘real struggle’ was just getting started.

The show’s opening was striking—an elegant black silhouette reflected in a pure white transparent mirror.

The figure in the mirror posed with one hand on her waist, showing off a slender figure and long legs with a sensual presence.

The ethereal music added a layer of mystery and allure to the scene.

All eyes were on that captivating shadow.

The next moment, the mirror slid open, and a spotlight fell on the woman’s feet.

Yan Man stepped forward with a calm gait and a cool expression. Her stiletto heels looked effortless beneath her.

She lifted her head with confidence. The first thing that caught the eye was her divinely sculpted face—full red lips with vintage charm, her eyes glittering with mesmerizing light. She was like a wild rose blooming in a thorny bush—defiant and radiant, stepping right into everyone’s line of sight.

The white gown accentuated her tall, graceful figure. Her refined makeup and aloof temperament made her the center of attention instantly.

“That’s Yan Man!” came an excited voice from the back—a fan, clearly.

Tan Qishen’s Adam’s apple bobbed subtly, and the look in his eyes darkened as he stared at her.

Yan Man walked at a steady pace, eyes fixed ahead as she passed directly in front of Tan Qishen.

She had already seen him during pre-show prep—watched him take his seat with her own eyes.

Now the spotlight followed her, casting a beam of white light around her figure.

She slightly tilted her chin up, expertly shifting poses to face the cameras, showing off the gown and jewelry she wore.

But her stunning looks outshone it all—fair skin, bright eyes—any accessories or makeup only served to complement her beauty. To the audience, her face was what stood out most.

Each model only had a few dozen seconds on stage. As Yan Man’s turn was ending, the next model came out.

“Old Tan, you should attend fashion shows more often. Look across—those old execs couldn’t take their eyes off your wife.”

Jiang Linjin leaned in and whispered to Tan Qishen, ensuring no one else heard.

Tan Qishen looked up and glanced across. Sure enough, a few CEOs were still gazing longingly at where Yan Man had just exited.

These men weren’t ordinary either—heads of publicly listed companies, all high-level.

When they accidentally locked eyes with Tan Qishen, they immediately panicked and stopped watching the show. They nodded awkwardly, trying to curry favor.

But Tan Qishen’s gaze was cold, his face as chilling as a deep pool. He gave no reaction.

The CEOs instantly got nervous. Their minds raced to recall whether they’d done anything recently to offend the Tan family. They couldn’t figure it out and completely lost the mood to enjoy the show.

The show lasted nearly two hours and ended with all the models returning to the stage for a final bow.

Backstage in the lounge, Luo Xi greeted Yan Man with a big hug.

“I told you, babe—opening the show was the right move!”

She held up her phone, displaying the trending topics.

Yan Man glanced over. Her name was trending #1.

“All the comments are positive—no one’s questioning your ability anymore. I knew you had it in you!” Luo Xi beamed.

Yan Man had just changed out of the haute couture gown and back into her outfit from that morning. With a smile, she joked, “Well then, thanks to President Rosy for the opportunity.”

Luo Xi winked. “Anytime. I’ll get you the next one too.”

Yan Man smiled, then hesitated a little, asking somewhat mysteriously, “Where is he?”

No name was needed—Luo Xi understood immediately.

“The banquet hall,” she replied frankly.

“Thanks.”

Yan Man patted her shoulder and started heading toward the elevator.

“Hey—hold up!” Luo Xi stopped her. “You’re really going like that? At least change into something more formal if you’re so eager to see him.”

She teased with a grin.

Anyone who knew about their relationship also knew how deeply Yan Man loved Tan Qishen. Luo Xi thought she was just impatient.

“Yeah, I’m in a hurry,” Yan Man replied boldly. She knew Luo Xi was teasing, but she didn’t shy away from it.

“You’ll run into him naturally at the banquet once you’re in a gown.”

Luo Xi pushed her into the dressing room.

The gown was already prepared—a strapless gold dress.

With Yan Man’s tall figure, the dress made her waist look even slimmer and her legs longer. The makeup, though light, looked like it had taken hours to perfect on her refined face.

The banquet hall was crowded.

As soon as Yan Man entered, many eyes turned toward her—including the same CEOs who had been captivated by her during the runway show.

But she had only one focus: finding Tan Qishen.

The venue was huge, with people constantly coming and going. It wasn’t easy to spot someone.

“Young Master, Miss Yan is here.”

Uncle Nan had noticed the stir among the crowd. He saw Yan Man in the distance, lifting her gown slightly as she greeted people while scanning the room, clearly looking for someone.

Tan Qishen was chatting with Jiang Linjin and He Cheng.

He Cheng had arrived later, just for the banquet. He nudged Tan Qishen, “Aren’t you going over there? She’s obviously looking for you.”

Tan Qishen didn’t react. Hands in his pockets, his expression remained indifferent.

“You’re doing this again?” Jiang Linjin raised a brow. He could tell Tan’s old habits were resurfacing.

“Tsk. What did Miss Yan do to offend you this time?”

That word—again—was telling.

They had just fought last night, made up today, and now he was pulling this again.

Even as a decades-long friend, Jiang Linjin couldn’t help but speak up for Yan Man.

“Look, Qishen. In this lifetime, it’s rare to meet a woman who spoils you like she does. Don’t mess this up like I did—don’t be the guy who ends up regretting it with nowhere left to cry.”

His advice came from the heart—and his own painful experience.
