Chapter 32: A Complete Falling-Out Between the Two!

Chen Yang’s sudden arrival snapped Song Qiao back to reality. Since Xie Yanli had betrayed her all those years ago, why should she keep asking for the reason behind his cheating? That would only humiliate herself further.

With that realization, the rest of her sentence that she had been about to speak was thoroughly stuck in her throat.

Seeing that Song Qiao had fallen silent, Xie Yanli immediately leaned forward and pressed her sternly, “Song Qiao, what were you about to say? What happened after I went abroad?”

Song Qiao glanced at him. She could see the seriousness in Xie Yanli’s eyes, and her expression twitched slightly.

Though she didn’t understand why he cared so much about what had happened back then, she no longer wanted to dig into it.

With a calm expression, she said, “Xie Yanli, there’s nothing left to say between us. Chen Yang and I still need to finalize our venue and go through the wedding procedures. Please step aside.”

Xie Yanli felt his chest tighten with frustration. Just moments ago, Song Qiao had voluntarily brought up the topic that had tormented him for years. But now, she acted indifferent, as if it didn’t matter at all.

He tried to hold back but failed. Grabbing Song Qiao’s hand, he demanded, “Song Qiao, I had just arrived in England when you—”

“Xie Yanli, let go of my fiancée’s hand.”

Before he could finish, Chen Yang interrupted coldly, especially emphasizing the word “fiancée.”

But Xie Yanli ignored him, his eyes locked on Song Qiao as he continued, “Song Qiao, not long after I got to England, Jiang Xinhui told me—”

At the mention of Jiang Xinhui, Song Qiao couldn’t help recalling the clues she’d seen on Jiang Xinhui’s Instagram—the hints of her relationship with Xie Yanli—and the way Jiang Xinhui answered the phone when she had called Xie.

She didn’t want to put herself through that kind of pain again. Cutting him off before he could go further, she said firmly, “Xie Yanli, I’m not interested in your past or your present. You’re hurting me. Let go of my hand—now.”

Seeing the impatience and disgust in her eyes, Xie Yanli clenched his fists by his side.

Back then, she had persistently pursued him. They had only been dating for half a year when she called to say she had fallen for someone else and broke up with him. Later, she had seduced him into bed while drunk. And now, she was brushing him off like he was nothing.

How could she treat him like this? How could she trample all over his sincere heart?

He instinctively tightened his grip on her hand and gritted his teeth, questioning, “Song Qiao, do you even have a heart?”

Heartless? Song Qiao felt that he was the one turning the blame on her. Taking a deep breath, she met his eyes and said word by word, “Xie Yanli, it’s not that I don’t have a heart. It’s that you were never worth it.”

A cold light flashed through Xie Yanli’s eyes. “Not worth it? Then why did you chase me so hard back then?”

Song Qiao sneered lightly, her tone casual, “Who hasn’t fallen for a few scumbags in their youth?”

Before he could respond, she added with biting sarcasm, “You’re not seriously thinking I still have feelings for you, are you? Is that why you’re bringing up the past? Chen Yang and I have been together for six years. To me, you’re nothing more than an insignificant ex.”

Her expression was cold, her voice even colder. The moment her words fell, Xie Yanli’s gaze chilled.

After a long silence, he slowly let go of her hand. Swallowing down his disappointment and rage, he looked at her and Chen Yang and said, “Well then, Song Qiao, I wish you and Chen Yang a hundred years of happiness. May you two be bound together forever, so you won’t go ruin anyone else’s life.”

“Sure. I’ll take that as your blessing. Chen Yang and I will definitely be happy together—grow old side by side, never part.”

Though a wave of unexplainable sadness welled up in Song Qiao’s heart, she maintained a light smile on her face. Pretending to be unfazed, she wrapped her arm around Chen Yang’s, her smile only deepening.

Watching them stand there, looking like the perfect loving couple, Xie Yanli felt he couldn’t bear to stay any longer. With a cold expression, he turned and left.

Once he was gone, Song Qiao suddenly felt all her strength drain from her body. The relationship between her and Xie Yanli had finally and completely turned into bitter enmity. She let go of Chen Yang’s arm, her eyes filled with an irrepressible sorrow.

Chen Yang understood Song Qiao. He knew her words just now were said out of anger. The deeper the love, the deeper the hurt. Song Qiao had always loved Xie Yanli. As for himself? He was just a balm she used to try to heal—a temporary relief, not a cure.

He furrowed his brow. Despite his anger, he reminded himself: he had approached Song Qiao for revenge. Seeing her like this should’ve made him happy.

But the thought brought no comfort. Over the past two years, his emotions had become increasingly uncontrollable. He cared more and more about Song Qiao. Still, when he thought of Xu Qin, he had to force all that turmoil aside.

Suppressing his emotions, he gently put his arm around her and smiled. “Qiao Qiao, the staff at the Marriott and the wedding emcee are still waiting for us. We should go finalize the venue and the schedule.”

Song Qiao slowly recovered and looked over at the waiting staff not far away. Smiling at Chen Yang, she nodded. “Okay.”

By the time they had finished confirming the venue and schedule, night had already fallen. Song Qiao suggested they go out for a celebratory dinner, but Chen Yang smiled apologetically and said, “Qiao Qiao, the Lu Group contract is about to be signed. I’ve still got work to finish, so I can’t join you.”

He paused and looked at her. “You’re not upset, are you?”

Instead of feeling disappointed, Song Qiao actually felt a sense of relief. Her emotions were a mess, and she had been wanting to meet with Shen Yao to talk about everything—her frustrations and the upcoming wedding with Chen Yang.

She smiled. “Of course not. You’re working hard for my dad’s company. Just don’t wear yourself out—remember to eat.”

“Got it, Qiao Qiao. Want me to drop you off?”

Knowing he was in a rush, she waved him off. “No need. I’ll grab a cab. It’s convenient.”

“Alright. I’ll head out then.”

After watching Chen Yang leave, Song Qiao called Shen Yao, but unfortunately she was working overtime too. Disappointed, Song Qiao gave up.

Suddenly, she had no appetite. Nor did she want to go home. After a moment of thought, she decided to pick up her car from the 4S dealership.

Twenty minutes later, she arrived at the dealership by taxi. After completing the paperwork, she was about to drive off when a staff member hurried over and handed her a paper bag.

Song Qiao looked surprised. “What’s this?”
