It turns out that Chi Yan actually has a connection with Feng Min. But right after Chi Yan said those words, You Xiaoqi’s anger dissipated.
So what if Feng Min and Chi Yan had a fling? Chi Yan didn’t even bother to give him a good look, whereas Feng Min, no matter how hard he tried to hide it, clearly still had feelings for Chi Yan.
Word has it that Feng Min spent over three years abroad, and he even took his fiancée with him when he left. So, Chi Yan must have been involved with Feng Min three years ago, and now that Feng Min is back, they had another hookup.
But hookups don’t really matter—everyone’s an adult with normal needs.
You Xiaoqi’s eyes lit up with amusement. Watching someone like Feng Min struggle like this, well, it was kind of entertaining.
As for Feng Min trying to rekindle things with Chi Yan? Hard, very hard.
Even though Chi Yan had left, the tension in the room hadn’t eased much. Fortunately, Xie Rong soon shifted the conversation to some investment topics. Everyone subtly avoided discussing what had just happened.
That was Feng Min’s personal business. Now that so many people knew, there was no need for him to explicitly warn them—no one would dare spread what they’d heard tonight.
Feng Min had recently returned to take over his family’s business. The Feng family only had him as their heir, so it was natural for him to manage all their affairs. Feng Min was smart; he had been involved in business dealings since high school. By the time he was in college, his parents fully trusted him with major deals and investments.
Feng Min had never let his family down. Every task was handled with precision.
Had he not abruptly left for abroad three years ago, it’s likely that by now, no one in Ninyang City wouldn’t recognize his name. The Feng family kept a low profile, but they were the richest in the city.
Feng Min’s return had been quiet; only a handful of people knew about it so far. Xie Rong, seeing that Feng Min’s mood had improved a little, poured him more wine.
“I know a great place. I promise you’ll be surprised,” Xie Rong teased, keeping the details vague.
People come and go; there’s no point in holding on to the past, he hinted.
Only two people knew the real reason why Feng Min had abruptly left for abroad: his doctors, one in the country and one overseas. Even Feng Min’s parents only knew that he wanted to study economics abroad—they had no idea their son had left because he was afraid of hurting the person he loved most.
It wasn’t the first time Feng Min had experienced an emotional breakdown. Starting from his elementary school days, every now and then, his emotions would spiral out of control. The Feng family, wealthy as they were, had found the best doctors to treat his obsessive-compulsive disorder.
But he hadn’t needed to go abroad until three years ago. No one would have guessed it was because Feng Min feared he might lose control and imprison Chi Yan. He had even thought of something as extreme as breaking Chi Yan’s legs so he could never leave again.
That way, Chi Yan would be forced to stay by his side, with Feng Min as his only source of support.
For three years, Feng Min had managed to suppress those urges, and he could handle one or two more days. Only Feng Min himself knew that his anger earlier wasn’t really because of what Chi Yan had said. The fact that Chi Yan had spoken to him at all, with all those animated expressions, was something Feng Min hadn’t seen in so long. No matter how sharp Chi Yan’s words were, they couldn’t hurt him anymore.
What truly hurt was the thousand-plus days of not being able to see Chi Yan at all.
Chi Yan wore a slightly high-necked, thin sweater, but there were still faint marks visible on his skin. Every one of those marks had been left by Feng Min. They were like stamps, proving that Chi Yan belonged to him.
Compared to the cold, distant smile Chi Yan had given him yesterday, today’s version felt somewhat better. At least it showed that, to Chi Yan, Feng Min was still different from others.
Feng Min had no intention of explaining the situation between him and Chi Yan to anyone. Misunderstandings or not, it was their business, between the two of them.
As for Xie Rong’s mention of a new spot, Feng Min wasn’t particularly interested. But going out with friends was at least a way to pass the time. Otherwise, he’d just be stuck in his room, staring at the secret photos and videos he had of Chi Yan.
His twisted, obsessive tendencies were something Feng Min wanted to keep hidden from others.
With a faint smile, Feng Min agreed, “Alright, give me a call when it’s time.” He looked over at Xie Rong.
Xie Rong raised his glass to Feng Min. “Cheers!” Xie Rong believed that after Feng Min had experienced enough new and exciting things, he’d likely lose interest in his ex.
They both drank, while Xie Rong’s gaze deepened as he studied Feng Min. Normally, people abroad are much more open than those in the country. With Feng Min’s looks, he would have been very popular. Could it be that Feng Min had restrained himself abroad, and that’s why he’d gone back to his ex so quickly after returning?
If Feng Min really liked Chi Yan, shouldn’t he have stayed instead of leaving for abroad?
Xie Rong kept mulling it over but ultimately decided that Feng Min probably didn’t truly love Chi Yan.
Given the Feng family’s resources, if Feng Min wanted to study abroad, he could’ve easily taken Chi Yan with him—or ten other people, for that matter.
Regardless of the truth, as a friend, Xie Rong didn’t want to see Feng Min fall too deep.
The two of them drank on, their alcohol tolerance high. Some of the others, however, had already had too much and were stumbling around. Xie Rong had a hotel booked next door and told them they could stay there for free, just mention his name.
