He never looked at Feng Min again, not even once.
As Chi Yan’s figure disappeared from his view, Feng Min stood still at the entrance. His tall figure and rigid posture caught the attention of a passerby. One glance at Feng Min’s icy face and the dark, oppressive aura emanating from him made the passerby instinctively avoid him.
Feng Min remained standing for more than half an hour, and if his phone hadn’t rung, he might have stayed frozen there like a statue for even longer.
The call was from his family, asking what Feng Min had been up to lately. They mentioned he hadn’t been around the company much and suggested he come home soon since they had something to discuss with him.
Feng Min asked bluntly, “What’s there to talk about?”
“You’ll know when you come home,” his father replied without elaborating.
“Fine, I’ll be back the day after tomorrow,” Feng Min said, his eyes dark and his voice cold, devoid of warmth.
After hanging up, he pocketed his phone and quickly walked away.
Sitting in his car, Feng Min stared into the pitch-black night. He remembered the name of the man who had harassed Chi Yan. Anyone who dared to make a move on Chi Yan would regret it, Feng Min would make sure of that.
The next day, Feng Min ordered someone to investigate Zheng Qin’s background. Zheng Qin co-owned a small game company with a partner. Feng Min didn’t get involved directly but had someone else handle it, investing in the partner instead. This caused the partner to become the major shareholder, effectively reducing Zheng Qin’s share and stripping him of control over the company.
Zheng Qin had no idea Feng Min was behind this and simply thought he was unlucky.
Everything had been handled efficiently, dealing with the stalker who had been following Chi Yan.
Feng Min knew that, in Chi Yan’s eyes, he and Zheng Qin were the same—both creepy stalkers. But he wouldn’t allow himself to meet the same fate as Zheng Qin.
Someone would be by Chi Yan’s side, and that person could only be Feng Min.
After a brief visit to his family, his parents told him they had arranged for a surrogate agency abroad and urged him to go and finalize the arrangements within the next few days.
They didn’t care if Feng Min liked men; that wasn’t an issue. Their only requirement was that he provide an heir to carry on the family name. Otherwise, who would inherit the family’s vast wealth—an outsider?
Feng Min’s parents had thought it through carefully, but Feng Min wasn’t on board.
Even when it came to his family, if Feng Min didn’t want to do something, no one could force him.
Surrogacy? Letting a stranger carry his child? Even if the child was born, Feng Min feared he might end up hating it.
However, if it were Chi Yan’s child—if Chi Yan were the one using a surrogate—Feng Min imagined he would love that child as if it were his own.
Facing Feng Min’s stubbornness, his family was at a loss. They tried reasoning with him, but he remained unmoved. They even threatened him, saying that if he didn’t give them a grandchild, he might as well stop using the family name.
Feng Min’s response? “Fine, I’ll change my name tomorrow.”
This nearly gave his father a blood pressure spike.
“Get out! Just leave already! One day, you’re going to drive me to my grave, you ungrateful child!” Feng Min’s father shouted, pointing at him as he kicked him out.
Feng Min didn’t stay at home for more than 20 minutes before leaving again.
Back in college, he had already told his family that he had no plans for surrogacy. He even joked that his father should work on producing a younger sibling if he was so concerned about the family’s legacy.
That, too, had infuriated his father.
His father was the epitome of a loving husband and had no intention of pursuing surrogacy or affairs. He was more interested in spending time with his wife, and the idea of cheating was completely out of the question.
As Feng Min drove away from his family home, his father called again, probably after cooling down a bit. Feng Min answered, only to be met with another round of scolding. He simply turned down the volume and listened silently until his father hung up.
Feng Min, of course, wanted children. But the child he wanted was one he could share with Chi Yan. Unfortunately, they were both men, so neither could have children.
Perhaps one day, Chi Yan would agree to surrogacy. If that ever happened, Feng Min believed the child would be as adorable and lovable as Chi Yan himself.
Since being caught stalking Chi Yan last time, Feng Min spent the next ten days sitting in his car outside Chi Yan’s apartment. He never got out or did anything to alert Chi Yan.
Sometimes, Chi Yan didn’t feel like cooking and went downstairs to a restaurant. Feng Min stayed in his car the entire time, watching until Chi Yan finished his meal and left. Only then would he get out of the car and enter the restaurant. He didn’t order the same food as Chi Yan, but he always sat in the same chair Chi Yan had used, as if doing so brought him closer to the man he loved.
These were all Feng Min’s one-sided delusions, of course.
Had it not been for what happened later, Feng Min might never have gotten the chance to win his lover back.
Time passed quickly, and before they knew it, National Day was approaching.
Chi Yan and You Xiaoqi had planned a road trip for the holiday, along with a few others.
Even though Chi Yan had a driver’s license, he didn’t own a car. He didn’t see it as necessary for his work as a livestreamer and home-based freelancer. When he did go out, it was easy enough to hail a ride or fly.
Chi Yan mentioned he’d share the driving with You Xiaoqi, but Xiaoqi laughed and said there was no need—he had already arranged some “free labor.”
“Free labor? Or a free masseuse?” Chi Yan teased.
“You jealous or something?” Xiaoqi joked back.
“Neither. I’m just saying, take care of yourself at your age. Don’t overindulge or you might not have anything left in the tank later on!”
