Chi Yan glanced to the side, where an unfamiliar face stood. Seeing the man with You Xiaoqi, it wasn’t hard to guess their relationship.
“This is Chu Hongye. Chi Yan!” You Xiaoqi first pointed to the man beside him and then introduced Chi Yan.
Chi Yan’s smile faded slightly. As You Xiaoqi’s boyfriend, he didn’t need to offer a beaming smile.
They didn’t shake hands, just nodded at each other, acknowledging their acquaintance. The three of them entered the bar together.
Women could come and go freely in the bar, but men had to go through a security check. After the check, they passed through a narrow and dim corridor, reaching the main hall of the bar, where colorful lights flashed and loud music blared. It felt like even the floor was shaking with the vibrations of the sound.
Inside and outside the bar felt like two completely different worlds. The people coming here to play also seemed to wear different faces inside and outside.
The trio found a spot close to the bar counter, which offered a good view. At 9 PM, there would be a special show at the bar, and their spot had a clear view of the performance stage.
After sitting down, You Xiaoqi ordered a round of drinks. The bottles were small, meant to be drunk straight from the bottle. Although glasses were provided, You Xiaoqi didn’t use them.
Chu Hongye, on the other hand, poured his drink into a glass, adding a few ice cubes.
Chi Yan sat next to You Xiaoqi, but not too close to Chu Hongye, though they were diagonally across from each other.
The music in the bar was too loud for quiet conversation, so Chi Yan and You Xiaoqi leaned in close to whisper to each other.
You Xiaoqi asked Chi Yan what he thought of his new boyfriend, whether he was handsome or not.
“Pretty handsome. Good taste,” Chi Yan responded. Over the phone, they might sarcastically tease each other, but in person, they both understood their boundaries. Even with friends, there’s a time and place for everything.
“But he’s still missing something, especially compared to your ex, Feng Min,” You Xiaoqi suddenly mentioned Feng Min.
Chi Yan’s eyes narrowed slightly, knowing You Xiaoqi didn’t mean anything by it and was just making a passing comment.
“If you like him so much, why not go for it?” Chi Yan responded playfully.
“Well, he’s got the looks, but anyone who can break up with you must have some issues.” You Xiaoqi shook his head.
Taking the bottle, You Xiaoqi gestured for Chi Yan to drink. Chi Yan’s smile deepened, revealing charming dimples.
Chu Hongye initially thought Chi Yan would be similar to You Xiaoqi in personality, but instead, Chi Yan exuded a refreshing and pure vibe.
Holding his bottle, Chi Yan’s eyes were clear as a mountain spring, even amidst the flashing lights of the chaotic bar. It gave Chu Hongye the sense that Chi Yan didn’t belong in this noisy, mixed crowd but should instead be sitting in a bookstore or café, peacefully sipping coffee.
Chu Hongye had met plenty of attractive people, but none quite like Chi Yan. In comparison, the others seemed incomparable.
