He never thought he would have a child, but suddenly, fate gave him this surprise.
Was it really a surprise?
Maybe not.
Was it someone’s gift?
Yes, it was indeed a gift.
Chi Yan suddenly stopped walking, then turned around and left.
The nurse ahead of him realized he was no longer by her side. Thinking he was behind her, she turned around, only to catch a glimpse of his disappearing figure around the corner. She tried to catch up, but Chi Yan’s long strides quickly took him out of sight.
Chi Yan took a taxi back home.
The living room was dark as he sat in the darkness.
Suddenly, he felt a twinge of regret. Why did he turn around and leave? He had already paid for the surgery, yet in the end, he ran away.
Chi Yan stared at his tightly clasped hands. Regret was there, but since he had made the decision, he was going to keep this child.
So what if a grown man was giving birth?
After all, he wasn’t a celebrity. Even if this was exposed, what would it matter? The internet’s memory was as short as a goldfish’s. Today people would be interested in this news, and tomorrow something else would catch their attention.
As for the child’s other father, as long as Chi Yan kept avoiding him, he didn’t believe Feng Min would ever find out the child was his.
He could just find a small hospital to deliver the baby when the time came. It wasn’t a big deal.
Money could solve it; money had great power.
Chi Yan sighed heavily and stood up, wobbling slightly as he went to turn on the living room light.
As the light flickered on, Chi Yan blinked.
Now that he had decided to keep the child, there were things he needed to start paying attention to. Pregnant women—no, pregnant men—had specific needs and dietary restrictions, and he would have to research all of them in advance.
He also needed to be careful about the reasons that caused that couple to lose their child.
Chi Yan immediately opened his laptop and started searching, taking notes as he went.
Time flew by, and soon it was late into the night. Chi Yan yawned, ready to go to bed.
Then he remembered that, because of the baby, he hadn’t logged into his game for the past two days. He couldn’t quite recall if he had informed his in-game friends.
Logging into his account, he wasn’t surprised to see that his friend’s account was grayed out and offline.
Chi Yan sent a quick greeting, explaining that he had been busy for the last couple of days but had now resolved everything.
He was about to log off when his friend unexpectedly came online and asked, “Is everything settled?”
“Yes, everything is fine now.”
“Good,” his friend replied after a short pause.
“It’s late, so make sure you get some rest. The weather’s cooling down, so wear more layers and don’t catch a cold.”
Although they hadn’t known each other long, this gaming friend seemed like a genuinely kind person.
“Okay, I will. Goodnight,” Chi Yan replied with a smile.
“Goodnight.”
Chi Yan shut down his computer and went to wash up.
On the other side of the internet, the man stared at their chat. It was just an ordinary conversation, yet he kept rereading every word Chi Yan had sent.
After a long time, he smiled.
The next day, Feng Min secretly drove to Chi Yan’s place again. This time, unlike before, he saw Chi Yan. Chi Yan went to the supermarket to buy groceries, then returned home.
Feng Min didn’t get out of the car, just watched from a distance.
His eyes were filled with a deep, overwhelming affection that he could barely contain.
Maybe his previous approach was wrong. He shouldn’t have appeared directly in front of Chi Yan. In the game, Chi Yan thought he was a stranger, so he showed his gentle side. In real life, Chi Yan would only give him a cold face. If that was the case, maybe he should back off for now.
He would keep his distance for a while and maintain contact with Chi Yan through the game.
As for reality, he could just assign people to block anyone else who tried to get close to Chi Yan.
As long as there were no other people, Chi Yan would still be his.
Letting go was not an option for Feng Min. If he did, his obsession would only flare up again, and at that point, it might even hurt Chi Yan.
So, for now, this was the best approach.
That was Feng Min’s plan, but as they say, plans can’t keep up with changes.
He noticed that Chi Yan was streaming less and less. Then, during a stream, when a new fan asked if he had a girlfriend, Chi Yan, who used to say he didn’t, suddenly said he did.
And that his girlfriend was pregnant.
Hearing this felt like a bolt from the blue to Feng Min. He stood up abruptly, knocking his mouse to the ground with a loud crash.
Chi Yan, who was streaming and playing games with Feng Min, heard the noise and asked what had happened.
Feng Min didn’t respond, staring at Chi Yan’s avatar on the screen.
Chi Yan had a girlfriend? And she was pregnant?
When did this happen? Why didn’t he know?
Hadn’t he arranged for people to keep an eye on Chi Yan’s neighborhood? They hadn’t told him that Chi Yan had been seen with any women. How could there suddenly be a child?
He didn’t believe it!
Feng Min sat back down and controlled his voice, though his expression had turned terrifying.
“I just accidentally knocked something over, nothing serious.”
“Okay, catch up quickly and be careful of your surroundings,” Chi Yan told him, urging Feng Min’s character forward in the game.
Feng Min gripped his mouse tighter and tighter, as if he wanted to crush it. The veins on the back of his hand bulged one by one.
It wasn’t until Chi Yan finished his stream that Feng Min logged off. The first thing he did was contact the people watching Chi Yan’s neighborhood, asking if they had failed to report something.
The response was that there was nothing unusual. Chi Yan had always gone out and returned home alone. He used to eat out often, but recently he had started buying groceries to cook for himself.
If Chi Yan was still alone, then what was this talk of a girlfriend and a baby?
Could it be a lie, meant to deceive fans and prevent them from developing romantic feelings for him?
