Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 14

The group’s mood wasn’t great, so they huddled together and thought they might as well go for something big—just snatch someone off the street. If they spotted someone attractive and alone, they’d just grab them.

What these scumbags didn’t know was that every word they said in their private room was being transmitted to Chi Yao via a small listening device.

Chi Yao knew these people wouldn’t give up easily, and they had no clue that yesterday’s fire was deliberately set. They thought it was just a coincidence. Now they were planning to target someone else, which was utterly hopeless.

In the end, they’d all end up in prison where they belonged, but for now, Chi Yao had a use for them. He needed their help to find a certain someone. And this time, if things went as they had in his previous life, these scumbags would pull a similar stunt. Back then, Chi Yao remembered feeling down, so he drove out alone. After parking in a remote area to smoke, a car passed by, which distracted him. He didn’t notice his surroundings until someone came up behind him, pressing a knife to his back. Only when his mouth was covered and he inhaled the drugged cloth did he realize what was happening. Just before losing consciousness, he memorized their faces.

Chi Yao was biding his time, but the thought of seeing a certain someone soon filled him with anticipation.

That night, unexpectedly, his rival in love also showed up at the bar—right in the section Chi Yao was responsible for. Finding an excuse, Chi Yao asked a colleague to cover for him. Although he’d only been working at the bar for a few days—less than ten in total—he had already gotten along well with his coworkers, largely due to his good looks.

Of course, it helped that Chi Yao would usually let his colleagues keep the drink commission for themselves. He didn’t need the money. His real reason for working at the bar was a much bigger purpose.

Fu Rong had come to the bar for a business meeting. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a figure that seemed familiar. The profile looked like someone he knew, but upon closer thought, it was impossible. That person, with their aloof and eccentric nature, would never be caught working as a waiter here.

Fu Rong quickly brushed it off. After a few hours at the bar, he left, while his business partners continued drinking with hired companions. When Chi Yao came in to deliver drinks, a middle-aged, slightly bald man, who was drunk, noticed that Chi Yao was even more attractive than the person sitting beside him. His skin and face were smoother and more delicate than a peeled egg.

Without thinking, the man reached out to touch Chi Yao’s face, but before he could fully experience how soft it was, he screamed in pain. Chi Yao had smashed a bottle over his head, causing crimson wine to mix with the blood trickling down.

Chi Yao then slapped the man across the face, unfazed. “You really know how to pick a target, harassing me.”

“You brat… You’re asking for it. I swear I’ll make you kneel and beg for forgiveness!” the man bellowed.

Chi Yao calmly took out his phone and snapped a few pictures, even turning to take a selfie with the man.

“This guy touched my face. He was sexually harassing me, so I used what I had to defend myself,” Chi Yao said. “Oh, and here’s my business card. Take a good look at who I am. If there’s any trouble, come find me, and I’ll take full responsibility.”

Chi Yao then fumbled, realizing he wasn’t carrying business cards since he was wearing his waiter’s uniform.

“Fu Rong—you know him, right? You were just drinking with him earlier. I’ve got some connections with him. My name is Chi Yao. You can ask Fu Rong who I am.”

Chi Yao hadn’t initially wanted to cross paths with Fu Rong, but now he found it amusing to cause some trouble for him.

After all, Chi Yao had never been the nice type. If he were, he would’ve already thanked Fu Rong for collecting his corpse back in the day.

Sure, Chi Yao felt a bit of gratitude toward Fu Rong, but that didn’t stop him from finding Fu Rong incredibly annoying—almost unbearably so.

The middle-aged man quickly dialed Fu Rong’s number and asked about Chi Yao.

Fu Rong was silent for a moment, confused about how this guy even knew Chi Yao, but the reason didn’t really matter.

“That guy? You’d best avoid getting involved with him. His personality is twisted, and he’s extremely vengeful.”

The middle-aged man had put the call on speaker, so Chi Yao heard Fu Rong’s assessment loud and clear.

Chi Yao smiled silently. Now the man knew that Chi Yao wasn’t someone to mess with. Even Fu Rong didn’t want to associate with him.

Covering his head wound with a napkin, the man hurriedly apologized to Chi Yao.

“This little matter doesn’t bother me,” Chi Yao said, his tone light. “But I’d consider it our secret, right?”

The man nodded frantically, not daring to disagree.

Chi Yao was in a great mood and worked even more energetically afterward.

A few days later, just like in his previous life, the time came. At that point in the past, Li Yue had asked for time off, saying there was an issue at home.

Following the memories of his previous life, Chi Yao drove to the same spot where the incident had happened before. He lit a cigarette, though it remained unlit in his hand. He was simply waiting.

After a while, he heard someone approach. This time, he was prepared and heard the footsteps. He was in a good mood that day.

A knife pressed against his back, and a drug-soaked cloth was once again placed over his mouth.

Chi Yao held his breath. He had practiced for this moment, even hired professionals to teach him. He could now hold his breath for several minutes.

His body went limp, and he was dragged into a car.

As he listened to the voices around him, someone suggested finishing him off right there, but another person stopped them, noting that with such fine clothes and an expensive car, it would be better to take him somewhere well-lit, capture photos and videos, and use them for blackmail later.
