The person lying on the ground wasn’t very skilled, but his viciousness made him quite difficult to deal with.
“You just need to nod,” Chang Feng suddenly approached, pressing down on the manager’s shoulder. The manager immediately understood Chang Feng’s signal.
“Yes, yes.”
Although his rest had been disturbed, Chi Yao’s mood wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t great either.
He left the massage parlor without letting Chang Feng follow him. He walked off alone.
Chi Yao went to a mall and headed straight for a baby store. Previously, he had never stepped into these kinds of shops because he never planned on having a child with a woman. Now, things were different. He had a little one growing inside him.
The sales assistant warmly approached. It wasn’t often that such a young and handsome customer came into the store. She asked how old his baby was.
Chi Yao replied, “Not born yet, due in the spring.”
“Even though there are still a few months to go, it’s a good idea to start preparing early for the baby,” the assistant said, immediately recognizing that Chi Yao was a new father. She enthusiastically shared her professional knowledge about what Chi Yao’s pregnant wife should be mindful of during pregnancy and childbirth.
Chi Yao listened attentively, though he never revealed that the baby was actually in his belly.
What started as window shopping turned into a shopping spree, with Chi Yao leaving the store carrying bags of items. He loved everything in the store and wanted to buy it all.
Whether for a boy or a girl, he wanted to get it.
In the end, he exercised a little restraint—there was only so much he could carry with both hands.
A few days later, Chi Yao finalized the purchase of the house he had viewed earlier—the first one he had seen. He entrusted Chang Feng with all the formalities, giving him a bank card with an eight-figure balance, confident that Chang Feng wouldn’t run off with it.
Chang Feng managed everything, from purchasing the house outright to quickly handling all the paperwork. Before the handover, Chang Feng even hired a company to install an elevator and consulted a designer, presenting several options to Chi Yao, who approved one, and the work commenced immediately.
The nursery room also had a custom design. When the blueprints were sent to Chi Yao, he wasn’t fully satisfied, so he decided to hold off on the nursery renovation. Other parts of the house that needed adjustments were prioritized first.
Chi Yao acted as the final decision-maker, leaving on-site supervision entirely to Chang Feng.
It wasn’t all just delegation, though. Chi Yao offered some perks too. He let Chang Feng invest in a newly established entertainment company, a promising venture given that it was under Chi Yao’s name, guaranteeing great future prospects.
Motivated by this, Chang Feng worked even harder, declining invitations from friends, citing how busy he was.
Then, Fu Rong called Chang Feng, and though he wanted to not answer, he couldn’t.
Chang Feng joined Fu Rong at a dinner gathering and, upon seeing Fu Rong, felt a bit like a child caught misbehaving.
Fu Rong simply stared coldly at him, making Chang Feng feel immense pressure as he walked over to sit in the empty seat beside Fu Rong.
Before Fu Rong could say anything, Chang Feng had already spilled everything he could. As for the things he couldn’t say, he dared not mention them.
Fu Rong knew that Chi Yao had bought a spacious villa and was currently having an elevator installed. Chang Feng had been busy with this lately.
That neighborhood seemed decent, and anything Chi Yao took a liking to was bound to be good.
Fu Rong directly asked for the name of the neighborhood and then told Chang Feng, “I won’t bother you with finding a place for me. You can focus on helping Chi Yao.”
Chang Feng wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Was he really supposed to go ask Chi Yao about it?
He didn’t have the time to do so anyway, but he still had contact with the real estate agent. He offered Fu Rong the agent’s number.
Fu Rong simply smiled at Chang Feng without taking the number.
The Stand-in – Don’t Tell Chi Yao
When Fu Rong mentioned wanting to find a house, the others at the table became very enthusiastic. They all offered to help, claiming they knew many real estate agents with plenty of listings available.
Sitting next to Fu Rong, Chang Feng felt extremely awkward and wished the ground would open up so he could disappear.
But no hole appeared because there wasn’t one.
Fu Rong’s interest wasn’t really in buying a house—it was more about a certain someone who was purchasing a house.
Despite the unpleasantness of their last encounter, Fu Rong hadn’t quite made up his mind. He randomly selected someone to help him find a house, still thinking about the boy he met that day, who had vanished like a ghost. He didn’t believe someone could disappear so quickly.
Soon after, he saw that person again—except it wasn’t the real boy, but someone arranged by Chi Yao.
Chi Yao’s intention wasn’t to cater to Fu Rong; he had only used Fu Rong for the semen and didn’t pay any further attention to him since then.
Now, Chi Yao had other priorities. He wanted to settle things directly with Shen Ling.
No more pretending that he still loved Shen Ling. In the past, Chi Yao might have acted, but now, with a child on the way, his focus had completely shifted to his baby. Even though the baby hadn’t been born yet, Chi Yao already felt like there was so much to prepare. As a first-time father, he hoped to be the best dad possible.
Everything he hadn’t been able to give his child in his previous life, he would make up for in this one—including all his love.
Naturally, this meant cutting Shen Ling out of his life.
Chi Yao now understood Shen Ling’s true nature. To sever their current relationship, he couldn’t be gentle—he would have to take an extreme approach.
He had already laid the groundwork for this extreme move.
Shen Ling liked to have fun, but unlike most people who came off as shallow, Shen Ling’s mild temperament made others believe he was incapable of being a scumbag. His face and smile were incredibly deceptive.
