Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 52

What will the child think when they grow up?

Grandpa stared at Chi Yao as if looking at a stranger. The baby was adorable, but not a single thing Chi Yao did made Grandpa feel at ease.

“Get out, you go out now!” Grandpa directly ordered Chi Yao to leave with the child.

If Chi Yao’s mother were alive, she would be heartbroken to see her son doing such things.

Thinking of his only daughter, who had unfortunate encounters in life and left at a young age, Grandpa felt like he had aged prematurely. Now, Chi Yao was being so disobedient, just like his worthless father. Grandpa turned away, not wanting to see Chi Yao anymore.

Seeing the pained expression on Grandpa’s face, Chi Yao knew the outcome but wasn’t completely unprepared.

Chi Yao took out his phone. He had planned this out long ago. After the delivery, when he woke up, he had the nurse take a photo of him and the baby. Chi Yao handed his phone to Grandpa.

“Grandpa, take a look at this.” Chi Yao urged Grandpa to look at his phone.

Grandpa had already taken two steps away. Deep down, he was reluctant to leave. After all, the baby was so adorable, just like Chi Yao when he was young. Grandpa believed the child was Chi Yao’s, but he couldn’t believe that Chi Yao had given birth to the child. He was furious that Chi Yao would lie to him at this moment, just like his good-for-nothing father.

What made Grandpa even angrier was that Chi Yao clearly did something wrong but wouldn’t admit it, instead making all sorts of excuses to shirk responsibility.

Suddenly, Chi Yao wanted to show Grandpa something. After a moment of hesitation, Grandpa still loved Chi Yao; he loved the child left by his daughter. Slowly, Grandpa turned around and saw a photo on the phone. It was a bit far away, so Grandpa couldn’t see it clearly. He went back to grab the phone, where there was a photo taken in the hospital room.

In the picture, two people were leaning against the bed: one was Chi Yao, and the other, though small and wrinkled, was making sounds like a little red monkey. Grandpa recognized immediately that this little one was the same child Chi Yao was holding.

Chi Yao’s expression, the way he looked at the baby, all conveyed one message: he had just given birth, and the child was his.

Grandpa’s fingers trembled slightly, and his lips quivered as well.

The photo also had a video. Chi Yao, fearing Grandpa wouldn’t believe him, asked him to swipe to see the video. Grandpa could still manage that; he opened the video, which made it even clearer. Chi Yao was bending down to kiss the swaddled baby, who had its eyes closed and was gently pouting.

This scene quickly brought back memories for Grandpa, taking him back many years to when he was in the hospital, watching his daughter bring Chi Yao into the world. At that time, his daughter seemed to be just like this.

So…

Could it be true that the child was really Chi Yao’s?

But how could that be possible?

Grandpa looked at Chi Yao’s abdomen; his shirt had already fallen back down, covering the stitched scar on his side. Grandpa slowly shook his head. It seemed too unbelievable. He had known since Chi Yao was a child that he was male, so how could he give birth?

Wait, who was the other father of the child?

Who had touched his precious grandson?

“Who is that person?” Grandpa immediately questioned Chi Yao. Whoever made him suffer this way, he would certainly hit them with a broom.

“Grandpa, he doesn’t know. I kept it from him; not many people will believe it.” Chi Yao smiled as he looked down at the already sleeping baby, who fell asleep quickly after eating, just like a little lazy pig.

“He doesn’t know?” Grandpa frowned.

“Then don’t let him find out.” Nobody should think of stealing his great-grandson from the Chi family.

Just moments ago, Grandpa hadn’t accepted this situation at all, but now he was even considering how to respond if someone dared to come and take the child away.

Grandpa walked to the side of the sofa, bending down to take the sleeping baby from Chi Yao’s arms.

It had been many years since Grandpa had held a baby like this. Years ago, it was still Chi Yao, though he didn’t hold him often.

Carefully cradling the little one, Grandpa noticed that the baby must have been dreaming sweetly, as he smiled after being picked up, a sweet smile on his face.

Chi Yao stood up and gently stroked the baby’s soft little cheeks.

“Grandpa, it seems the baby really likes you.”

Grandpa was seemingly infected by the baby’s smile, his own smile spreading across his face.

“Did you come alone? The nanny didn’t come?” Grandpa looked outside, seeing that Chi Yao didn’t seem like someone who could take good care of the baby.

“The nanny is outside. I didn’t want to make you angry by having you chase me and the baby out, so I didn’t let her in.”

“Let her in.” Grandpa said angrily.

Chi Yao chuckled and let the nanny come in.

The nanny quickly entered, pushing a stroller filled with baby supplies, a lot of them.

Seeing those supplies, Grandpa realized that Chi Yao was at least a somewhat competent father.

“He looks a lot like you when you were young.” Grandpa sat at the edge of the sofa, carefully examining the sleeping baby’s face.

“More like me.” Chi Yao laughed, as the nanny brought water for him, and he took a sip.

Grandpa suddenly fixed his gaze on Chi Yao: “What’s going on with you?”

Chi Yao was taken aback, wondering why Grandpa had changed his tone.

“Go inside and get a jacket.” Grandpa signaled the nanny to fetch some clothes.

“The temperature has dropped these past two days; you’re wearing so little. You just had… the baby. Is your body fully recovered?” Grandpa paused when he mentioned the delivery. He couldn’t believe his grandson could give birth.

However, Grandpa recalled a news story he had seen before about a child in their teens who went to the hospital for a check-up, only to find out they were intersex, which was completely undetectable from their appearance.

Most likely, Chi Yao was in a similar situation.

Seeing his grandfather concerned about his health, Chi Yao finally relaxed a bit.

As for the coat that the servant brought out, even though the style was completely not to Chi Yao’s liking, he still put it on.

His grandfather held the little one, gazing at him as if he could never get enough.

“That guy…”

His grandfather’s tone changed, becoming solemn.

Chi Yao sat up a little straighter. He knew who his grandfather was referring to. He had lied; that person already knew about the baby’s existence and might even come into this house in the future.

But for now, he decided to say nothing to avoid upsetting his grandfather, who had just started feeling happy.

“It doesn’t matter if he knows. If he dares to come and take away what belongs to us, I’ll break his legs.”

“He won’t dare,” Chi Yao reassured his grandfather.

After dinner that day, Chi Yao left with the baby, promising to bring the baby back in a couple of days. Since there was no nursery at his grandfather’s place and he hadn’t brought many baby supplies, Chi Yao decided against staying at the old house.

As he stepped out, Chi Yao thought Fu Rong had already left, given that they had come during the day and it was now dark. But as soon as he walked out, he saw Fu Rong waiting by the car, his expression indicating that he had been waiting for quite a while.

Seeing the man standing quietly, when he noticed Chi Yao and the baby coming out, Fu Rong lifted his gaze, filled with warm affection. At that moment, Chi Yao felt ripples of emotion spreading in his heart.

Chi Yao walked over and presented the baby to Fu Rong.

Fu Rong didn’t take the baby into his arms but instead embraced both the baby and Chi Yao, his gaze brimming with deep affection.

“Let me hold you two a bit. Don’t reject me, Chi Yao,” Fu Rong’s voice was low and hoarse, a tone of pleading.

If Chi Yao were to push him away at this moment, he imagined Fu Rong would look hurt. After a moment’s thought, he chose to let Fu Rong hold both him and the baby.

The baby woke up, his big eyes looking curiously at the two people holding him. He stretched out his tiny hands and started babbling, his voice clear and crisp, and without any teeth, he looked utterly adorable.

Fu Rong loosened his grip and shifted to cradle the baby, gently rubbing his face against the baby’s cheek, which Chi Yao blocked.

“Be gentle; don’t rub the baby’s face red.” Fu Rong had a bit of stubble that had almost made the baby allergic before.

Fu Rong then gently rubbed the swaddling, and the baby giggled, as if he could understand Chi Yao’s words.

Holding the baby’s little hand, Chi Yao kissed it.

He opened the car door and settled inside.

They drove two cars, with the nanny in the one behind.

It was dark outside. Chi Yao had already eaten, while Fu Rong had not. After safely delivering Chi Yao and the baby home, Fu Rong turned to leave, intending to grab a bite somewhere, when someone called out to him.

“Come in for dinner before you go. Let Aunt Lin make something simple.” Aunt Lin’s salary was managed by Fu Rong from the beginning and was quite a considerable amount, even though she was there to take care of Chi Yao.

However, Aunt Lin’s employer was still Fu Rong.

Fu Rong was surprised, evident on his face.

He looked at Chi Yao, whose expression was indifferent as he turned to hand the baby over to the nanny, asking her to take the baby to the nursery for a sleep.

Chi Yao then went upstairs to take a shower.

Fu Rong watched Chi Yao’s figure going up the stairs and glanced at his own hand. His fingers were clench; it seemed he could grasp something now.

A smile surfaced in Fu Rong’s eyes as he walked back to the living room.

Butterfly Tattoo – How about you get one?

Aunt Lin went into the kitchen to cook noodles, and Fu Rong asked her to whip up some egg noodles, something simple and quick.

In just over ten minutes, the noodles were served. Fu Rong sat at the dining table, eating alone, and although the meal was simple, at that moment, he found it more satisfying than any lavish feast he had in the past.

After finishing a bowl of noodles, Aunt Lin noticed Fu Rong had a good appetite and asked if he wanted another serving.

He could probably eat more, but Fu Rong just shook his head to indicate he was fine.

After he finished eating, he thought it was time to leave.

Should he tell Chi Yao he was leaving?

Should he call?

He could, but Fu Rong was feeling selfish; he wanted to see Chi Yao one more time, or else he would have to wait until tomorrow.

One night, just over ten hours, felt very long to Fu Rong.

He walked upstairs. After Aunt Lin finished in the kitchen, she saw Fu Rong heading up and said nothing.

Chi Yao had showered and was in his pajamas, feeling a bit drowsy. However, noticing it was still early, he took out his phone to play for a bit.

The door was knocked from the outside, and Chi Yao almost immediately knew who it was. He smiled faintly and said two words, “Come in.”

Fu Rong pushed open the door. In the bedroom, Chi Yao was leaning back, holding his phone, clearly still awake.

Fu Rong stood at the door, not stepping inside. He bit his lip and after a few seconds spoke up, “I’ll check on the baby in a moment and then I’ll leave. I’ll come back tomorrow…”

“Come here.”

It was supposed to be Fu Rong’s line, but Chi Yao had said it instead.

Fu Rong was taken aback. Chi Yao set his phone down, his left hand slightly raised, signaling Fu Rong to come in.

Go in?

Fu Rong hesitated for a moment, unsure of Chi Yao’s intentions. His body acted before his mind; after all, what Chi Yao said now was practically a command to Fu Rong, and he wouldn’t refuse.

“Chi Yao…” Fu Rong lowered his gaze, staring into Chi Yao’s eyes.

They were always bright, as if little stars had fallen into them.

Chi Yao smiled, “I think there’s still time. Do you want to play for a bit?”

Chi Yao was joking, but the tone was inviting.

“Play?” Fu Rong asked, his voice hoarse and low.
