Such an angry gaze was something Shen Ling used to dislike. In his opinion, someone who couldn’t even control their own anger was simply not excellent enough.
But now, seeing Chi Yao’s bright eyes, he felt he might be a little sick; he actually found Chi Yao’s current state quite beautiful—beautiful to the point of being dazzling.
Shen Ling leaned in, using one hand to grasp Chi Yao’s chin, preparing to kiss him.
He planned to take some photos and send them to Fu Rong, showcasing the fact that he had slept with Chi Yao. At that moment, he doubted Fu Rong would still dare to show up in front of Chi Yao. With that person’s temperament, he likely wouldn’t tolerate it.
He could fabricate a little story, saying Chi Yao still had feelings for him, and that the distance in the past few days was just Chi Yao using Fu Rong as a shield.
Now that he was done using Fu Rong, he should just roll away.
At this moment, Shen Ling seemed to understand that he was a bit envious of Fu Rong, this so-called charming rival who was pursued everywhere. That person had strong character and seemed unmoved by anything.
Suddenly, seeing that Chi Yao had been attracted to Fu Rong, someone he had previously hate, felt like a slap in the face to Shen Ling.
So, if he made a move on Chi Yao, Fu Rong would surely be furious—very furious.
He suddenly found himself looking forward to seeing Fu Rong angry.
Shen Ling tightened his grip on Chi Yao’s hand and kissed him.
Just as he was about to kiss, suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen; he was hit hard by a punch. Shen Ling stumbled back several steps, and before he could raise his head, he was hit in the face again.
The other party showed no mercy, landing a punch squarely on Shen Ling’s face.
Shen Ling wasn’t used to violence; he preferred to watch from the sidelines. He noticed that he is physically stronger than the opponent but in terms of fighting, he was completely outmatched by Chi Yao.
After just two or three punches from Chi Yao, Shen Ling was already unable to defend himself.
He coughed, blood spilling from his mouth, and with a bent back, he spat out a mouthful of bright red blood, staring blankly at the crimson stain by his feet.
What kind of development was this?
Shen Ling felt a bit dazed.
Slowly lifting his head, he looked at Chi Yao, who stood there with a cold expression. Chi Yao’s eyes were lowered, looking down at Shen Ling.
In the past, Chi Yao had used this gaze on many people, but when he looked at Shen Ling, it was always with the adoration of a puppy.
Why was it different now?
Shen Ling wanted to say something, but as he opened his mouth, blood poured out.
“Chi Yao, you…” When did you stop loving me? Why?
Shen Ling wanted an answer.
Chi Yao walked over, and Shen Ling smiled, believing Chi Yao still loved him. But when Chi Yao approached, he raised his foot and kicked Shen Ling, sending him crashing to the ground.
In that moment, Shen Ling’s image as an elite completely collapsed.
Chi Yao’s punches were heavy, striking Shen Ling like stones falling from above.
Shen Ling recalled how he used to enjoy watching Chi Yao beat others; he never expected that one day those punches would be directed at him.
He was so shocked that he didn’t know how to react.
Chi Yao took the car keys from Shen Ling’s hand.
Turning away, Chi Yao walked toward the car, and a low, hoarse voice followed: “Chi Yao, you’re not drunk?”
He walked steadily, showing no signs of intoxication.
“You reminded me.” It seemed Chi Yao just remembered he had been drunk; don’t drink if you will drive, and don’t drive if your drunk.
Chi Yao threw the car keys to the ground and stomped on them, breaking them.
Chi Yao returned to Shen Ling, squatting down to demand Shen Ling’s phone.
Shen Ling didn’t want to give it up, instead grabbing Chi Yao’s hand.
“Don’t make me hit you again. You don’t want to spend the night here, do you?” Chi Yao smiled as he threatened Shen Ling.
From the brilliant light in his eyes, Shen Ling knew Chi Yao would really do what he said, If he didn’t give the phone, Chi Yao would knock him out and leave him in the wilderness. Shen Ling had never had such an experience and certainly didn’t want one.
While Shen Ling smiled, he was still spitting blood. Was he angry?
Of course, he was angry, but at the same time, he felt that he might be a bit insane. He found Chi Yao’s cold face increasingly attractive.
He thought he might be falling in love with Chi Yao.
“Stop, don’t look at me with such disgusting eyes.” Chi Yao stepped back a little, feeling creeped out by Shen Ling’s gaze.
How did he not notice in his previous life that Shen Ling was this kind of person?
What was this?
A bit of a masochistic tendency?
He wasn’t angry at being hit; instead, he felt even more drawn to Chi Yao.
Chi Yao took Shen Ling’s phone and dialed a number.
“Calling Fu Rong?” Shen Ling guessed almost instantly.
After the call.
Chi Yao threw the phone back in front of Shen Ling.
Shen Ling picked up the phone and checked the call log—sure enough, it was Fu Rong.
Rivals Meet—A Good Parting
“Chi Yao, don’t tell me you’ve fallen for him?” Wasn’t that too ridiculous?
The little puppy who used to adore him was now interested in someone else without his permission?
Shen Ling wore an expression of betrayal and abandonment, while Chi Yao stared at Shen Ling’s seemingly twisted face, shaking his head slightly.
Leaning against Shen Ling’s car, Chi Yao still felt a little dizzy, but not as severely as before.
He was just acting. After the meal, he noticed Shen Ling’s gaze was a bit strange, so he decided to play along and see how Shen Ling would react.
The outcome was indeed beyond his expectations; Shen Ling surprisingly acted in such a way, completely shattering his preconceived notions.
Chi Yao leaned against the car door, while atching Shen Ling, who had just gotten up from the ground. Shen Ling took a couple of steps forward, then paused, turning to walk to the side.
Fu Rong would arrive soon. What would happen when he got here?
Should he do something?
Now, would Fu Rong believe him or Chi Yao?
Since he was the one who was injured, Fu Rong would surely believe him, right? Shen Ling thought this way, but then he recalled the other day, at the baby’s full moon celebration, the way Fu Rong looked at the child and Chi Yao. Shen Ling had a gut feeling that Fu Rong might not believe him.
Shen Ling didn’t leave; he stayed there waiting with Chi Yao.
Fu Rong arrived quickly. He had been at the company, discussing an important collaboration that had been in preparation for over six months. This was the final negotiation phase, but he suddenly received a call from Shen Ling.
Their relationship had already grown distant, especially since the baby was born. Fu Rong rarely went out with Shen Ling anymore.
What could Shen Ling possibly want at this time?
Just as Fu Rong was about to hang up, he suddenly remembered that Chi Yao was probably with Shen Ling. Chi Yao had gone out to dinner with Shen Ling because Shen Ling had sent a significant amount of money to Chi Yao’s company, as a thank you Chi Yao had invited Shen Ling to dinner.
Fu Rong immediately answered the call, but instead of Shen Ling’s voice, he heard Chi Yao’s.
His heart skipped a beat.
“I’ve had a bit to drink and can’t drive. Are you free? If you are, come pick me up; if not, arrange for someone else.”
Chi Yao hadn’t called for a driver; he had one waiting for him. Why didn’t he call the driver?
Fu Rong’s intuition told him something was off. Chi Yao quickly hung up, not giving Fu Rong a chance to ask more questions.
Holding the phone, Fu Rong fell into a brief contemplation. The business partner sitting across from him noticed Fu Rong’s poor expression and asked what was wrong.
Fu Rong immediately stood up, indicating he had urgent matters to attend to and pushed the negotiation to a later date.
He quickly left the office, and no one knew what was happening.
Descending the stairs and getting into his car, Fu Rong had someone track Shen Ling’s phone location. Chi Yao hadn’t used his phone to call; had his phone been lost?
Fu Rong had no idea, but he knew he needed to reach Chi Yao immediately.
The phone’s location was quickly found, and Fu Rong rushed over.
As he got closer, seeing the desolate area around him, Fu Rong’s heart sank further. He prayed that nothing had happened. If something happened to Chi Yao, he wouldn’t let Shen Ling off the hook.
Arriving at the location, Fu Rong saw a car and a figure leaning against the door. The person turned to look as he heard the approaching vehicle.
Before the car had even stopped, Fu Rong violently pushed the door open and got out.
He began walking quickly, then broke into a run, rushing to Chi Yao’s side, grabbing Chi Yao’s arm and examining him from head to toe.
“Are you okay? Your phone was lost. What happened? What exactly is going on?”
With a series of questions, Chi Yao didn’t know which to answer first.
Just as Chi Yao was about to speak, Fu Rong hugged him tightly. Chi Yao was taken aback, feeling Fu Rong’s body trembling slightly. Did this person really care so much about him?
Did it seemed to Fu Rong that he had no self-protection capability at all?
How could that be? After everything that happened in his past life, Chi Yao was now quite cautious about his own safety. He even had something on him that he hadn’t used—a small stun gun that could induce a strong electric shock on a person.
Chi Yao had it for self-defense. He used to have a terrible temper and still did, often getting into fights, so he had prepared for it.
Fu Rong didn’t know any of this, and Chi Yao had never told him. It seemed this person genuinely cared for him.
Chi Yao didn’t push Fu Rong away. Instead, he raised his hand to wrap around Fu Rong’s broad back. Behind Fu Rong, someone was sitting on a rock, but now had stood up. The young man’s left cheek was swollen, clearly beaten up by Chi Yao.
Chi Yao looked at Shen Ling and smiled slightly.
“All right, there’s someone else here. You should check on him.” Chi Yao patted Fu Rong’s shoulder, hinting that he was neglecting Shen Ling.
Fu Rong turned around and, upon seeing Shen Ling’s swollen face, thought for a moment that there was something wrong with his eyes. How could the once-glamorous Shen Ling suddenly look so disheveled, as if he had been severely beaten?
Indeed, he had been beaten; his face and body bore the marks.
Fu Rong furrowed his brow. It was clear that with only Chi Yao and Shen Ling present, it was obvious who had done the beating.
How could Chi Yao beat Shen Ling? And Shen Ling rarely angered anyone, right?
Fu Rong was puzzled. He turned to Chi Yao but immediately asked, “Are you hurt anywhere?”
Chi Yao shook his head and smiled. “I’m fine. I was the one who did the beating. I’m completely okay.”
Fu Rong frowned. That meant Shen Ling must have done something to upset Chi Yao.
What could it be?
Fu Rong turned back, his gaze on Shen Ling, very dark.
The unfriendly gaze made Shen Ling sigh inwardly.
“Fu Rong, do you know how that child came to be?” Shen Ling didn’t continue discussing why he had been beaten but instead shifted the topic to the baby.
“What do you know?” Fu Rong replied, countering.
“That’s Chi Yao’s child. He looks just like him as a child, and he had him with another woman outside. I never thought Chi Yao could be so deceptive.”
“Did you really like me back then, Chi Yao? Or were you just pretending?”
He acted so convincingly in chasing him back then that Shen Ling had completely believed it.
