Fu Rong was outside on a phone call. He might have to leave for several days immediately, which meant he wouldn’t see Chi Yao and the baby for a while. Although they could video call, it wouldn’t be the same as being in this home. Even before Fu Rong left, he already felt reluctant.
Back in the living room, Fu Rong took the baby from Chi Yao’s arms, holding him close and bending down to hug the little guy tightly.
The baby grabbed Fu Rong’s hair, as he was holding him too tightly.
“What’s going on?”
Seeing Fu Rong like this, it was likely something important.
“I might be going out for a few days.”
“A few days?” Whether it was one or two days, it was still a few days; eight or nine days counted too.
“Seven or eight days,” Fu Rong said.
“It’ll pass in the blink of an eye,” Chi Yao said with a smile.
Fu Rong reached out to stroke Chi Yao’s delicate hair.
“How have things been on your end lately?”
“A bit of trouble, but not too busy.” Chi Yao knew what Fu Rong meant.
“I don’t want to go out recently.”
This statement clearly meant a refusal, and before Fu Rong could say anything, Chi Yao had already declined.
Fu Rong opened his lips, then closed them again.
After a while, he said, “You haven’t been to Grandpa’s place in a while; you could take the baby there to stay for a couple of days.”
Chi Yao nodded. “Mm, after two days, I’ll take the baby to my parents’ place.”
To Fu Rong’s parents’ place.
Fu Rong leaned closer and kissed Chi Yao.
That night, Fu Rong held Chi Yao tightly in his embrace, a little forcefully.
He held Chi Yao’s wrist as if trying to embed him into his body.
Chi Yao was a bit curious; weren’t they close enough in their relationship?
Fu Rong’s possessiveness was growing stronger day by day; he wanted to see Chi Yao at all times, almost wanting to keep Chi Yao with him wherever he went.
Chi Yao felt a bit uncomfortable and tugged at Fu Rong’s hair forcefully. Fu Rong’s eyes darkened.
“I think you should go away for a month,” Chi Yao said to Fu Rong.
Fu Rong’s gaze became even darker. “Are you really free on your own?”
If Fu Rong left for a while and Chi Yao left the baby with his parents, then Chi Yao would indeed feel freer.
“There is that reason,” Chi Yao didn’t deny it.
Although Fu Rong’s skills were good and he was comfortable, Chi Yao worried that Fu Rong might have some issues if he continued like this.
Fu Rong wouldn’t change; he had that personality. Even though they were together, they were still two separate individuals.
They couldn’t become one. Fu Rong hadn’t been this clingy before, and now Chi Yao felt somewhat pressured.
Fu Rong remained close to Chi Yao, with no gaps between them. He paused, his gaze heavy, as if all the light couldn’t penetrate it.
“The bigger reason is that I think you need to calm down a bit.”
Chi Yao gently stroked Fu Rong’s handsome face. “Haven’t you noticed?”
“You’re too clingy to me now.”
“Don’t you like it?” Fu Rong asked bluntly.
“I do, but it’s not that I don’t like you; I just don’t like you being too out of control.”
They were married, but they couldn’t truly see each other as their entire world; they needed to have their own independent thoughts.
In this regard, Chi Yao realized that the baby was actually handling it better than Fu Rong.
Fu Rong seemed to understand Chi Yao’s point. This person thought that he was giving too much love, or that he wanted their relationship to be a bit more distant, not so close.
Fu Rong didn’t know what he felt inside; it was stuffy and a bit damp.
Fu Rong was silent for a long time. Under Chi Yao’s gentle and caring gaze, he nodded.
“You won’t leave me, right?”
Chi Yao responded as he had before: “No, I won’t.”
“Chi Yao, do you really like me? Not just because of the baby?”
Was it because he was the baby’s father that Chi Yao was with him?
If someone else were the baby’s father, would it mean he had nothing to do with Chi Yao?
This thought had been lingering in Fu Rong’s mind for a while.
He was really unsure why Chi Yao had chosen him in the past, pretending to be someone else and sleeping with him, not for revenge.
Did he like him back then?
Fu Rong didn’t think so; there must be another reason.
That reason was unimaginable to Fu Rong; he couldn’t guess it at all.
“It’s because of the baby.” When Chi Yao said this, Fu Rong’s gaze flickered.
“But it can only be you. The baby’s father will only be you; there won’t be anyone else.”
“I know you’ve been wondering why I looked for you that day and not someone else.”
“Weren’t you thinking that since I could look for you, I could also randomly find someone else?”
“No, how could that be? Without you, it’s even more impossible to have anyone else, or even the baby.”
“You are his only father; only you.”
Chi Yao didn’t plan to tell Fu Rong about his past life; he felt it wasn’t necessary.
That life should end with him; he only needed to remember it. Neither Fu Rong nor the baby needed to know.
With Chi Yao’s affirmative answer, even though he didn’t mention that reason, Fu Rong’s damp feelings were dispelled by a warm breeze.
“Okay, I will do as you say,” he said, trying to be less clingy to Chi Yao and distance himself a bit.
Chi Yao had this personality; he loved Fu Rong, but that wasn’t everything. They were both independent individuals.
Fu Rong promised Chi Yao that he would try to change. However, that night, he showed with his actions just how much he cared for Chi Yao.
Chi Yao fell asleep at dawn, but Fu Rong had little desire to sleep. He stood by the window, gazing at the twinkling stars in the night sky. Chi Yao asked him not to love him so much, but how could he not? That person was everything to him.
Along with the baby, they filled his heart entirely.
Suddenly, Fu Rong realized that perhaps the way he and Chi Yao loved was different.
He loved Chi Yao, but Chi Yao’s love might just be a simple fondness.
A few days later, Fu Rong left for a business trip. Chi Yao and the baby took him to the airport.
On the way back, Chi Yao unexpectedly received a phone call from the director of a web drama he had filmed previously, where he played the villain.
The director said over the phone that there was a new role and wondered if Chi Yao was interested. If he had time, he could come by to take a look at the script.
Chi Yao had no interest in the entertainment industry; he had only participated in the previous web drama because he liked the villain character.
Now that there was another role, Chi Yao didn’t think it would be suitable and directly declined.
However, that day, a script was sent to Chi Yao’s phone. It wasn’t the main role or the villain; it was just a character that appeared for less than a minute—a spoiled rich kid. To be honest, the character’s description did resemble Chi Yao a bit.
It included a scene where someone kicked another person. Seeing that scene, Chi Yao thought it was really tailor-made for him.
With less than a minute of footage, it could probably be filmed in a day or half a day. It was also for a web drama.
If it was too long, Chi Yao wouldn’t go, but a day was fine.
Moreover, the baby would probably be interested in the filming set, so Chi Yao decided to take the baby with him. A nanny would follow, along with a bodyguard. Fu Rong was covering their expenses, and they would regularly report the work situation to Fu Rong.
Chi Yao rode over, and the baby sat in a child’s chair. The chair had been changed; it was now a larger one, upgraded from a baby seat.
The baby was curious about the places they were going, his big eyes seemed to like everything.
When they arrived at the film set, they went directly to the crew. Originally, that role was already taken, but the person unexpectedly fell ill and was hospitalized with a severe fever, leaving the role open. They found that no one else was suitable, and finally, someone suggested letting Chi Yao give it a try.
The director knew Chi Yao from a brief collaboration in the past.
Although that person’s identity was somewhat unclear, their partner was quite remarkable.
Not holding much hope, they sent the script over, estimating that Chi Yao would refuse. To their surprise, Chi Yao actually agreed.
He rushed to the set a few days later, but this time he didn’t come alone; he brought several people with him—a one-year-old baby, and two adults, a man and a woman, both there to take care of the baby.
The crew could only hold back their dropping jaws; they were already surprised that Chi Yao was so young and married, and now he had a child who was old enough to walk on his own.
