Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 8

Chi Yao went to a leisure club, looking for certain people—namely Shen Ling and Fu Rong. He wasn’t planning on seeking revenge on them. After all, it was his own choice to fall for Shen Ling, and he admitted he was blind not to see the truth. But there were others involved, people who drugged him, made him sleep with a stranger, and caused him to unexpectedly get pregnant. Chi Yao felt that he had to track them down.

In his previous life, he had investigated, but found nothing. However, since the incident took place at this very club, he hoped he might find some clues. Those people were probably repeat offenders, and Chi Yao intended to catch them and make sure they ended up behind bars.

At this club, not many people knew him. He parked his car a bit farther away and leaned on the steering wheel. Going in directly might draw too much attention, so he needed another approach.

He took out his phone and searched online. Sure enough, the club was hiring servers. Chi Yao smiled—despite the job listing asking for experience, with his face, they would likely overlook that. Even if he couldn’t speak, he’d probably get the job.

Stepping out of the car, he messed up his hair a little and removed his diamond earring, putting it in his pocket.

His White Moonlight – Finding Your Boyfriend

The interview went even smoother than Chi Yao had anticipated. He said he had seen the job post online and was immediately greeted by a supervisor, who took him to a lounge. The supervisor quickly sized him up and asked if he’d ever worked as a server before. Chi Yao truthfully answered that he hadn’t, but promised to work hard.

Looking at Chi Yao’s face, which was even more attractive than the club’s front-desk greeters, the supervisor didn’t ask any more questions and said he could start the next day.

“Even though I know people your age usually don’t stick around long, you should at least try it for a few months. The pay is high, and you might not want to leave once you settle in,” the supervisor said. Though the club presented itself as a relaxation venue, it actually offered a variety of entertainment—both legal and illegal.

The club’s owner was influential; someone without power couldn’t open such a place. After a brief interview, Chi Yao was hired, largely thanks to his looks.

The supervisor saw Chi Yao off at the door. He was eager to hire such a pretty and clean-looking employee for another reason as well. High wages weren’t just for regular servers. Some of the highest-paid workers had started as servers or receptionists before moving to other roles.

If he could recruit such a good-looking employee, the company higher-ups would surely praise him.

In front of familiar people, Chi Yao felt his acting skills were lacking. But with strangers, he found it surprisingly easy to put on a disguise—even Chi Yao himself was amazed.

From the supervisor’s look, Chi Yao knew he had been slotted into a certain role. That was perfect. After leaving the club, Chi Yao turned the corner to where his car was parked, got in, and before driving off, put his black earrings back on. Rubbing the earring between his fingers, he narrowed his eyes. Now, he just needed to find the people who had drugged him and ruined his previous life by making him sleep with someone unknown.

Back at home, as he chewed on some hard candy by the balcony, the phone rang in the living room. Chi Yao let it ring a few times before answering. It was Shen Ling calling. Chi Yao stared at the flashing name on the screen for a couple of seconds.

“Brother Ling!” Chi Yao’s expression was cold, but his voice was filled with joy.

“Xiao Yao, are you free tomorrow?” Shen Ling asked, knowing full well that Chi Yao would drop everything for him, no matter what.

“Tomorrow? Why? What’s up?” Chi Yao kept his tone cheerful.

“I thought the weather looked nice. Let’s go for a hike,” Shen Ling said with a gentle smile.

There was a brief silence on Chi Yao’s end.

“What’s wrong? Do you have other plans?”

“No, not at all. What plans could I possibly have? I’m free,” Chi Yao replied, his voice full of eager deference.

“Great, then let’s meet at Wu Yue Square at 8 a.m. tomorrow,” Shen Ling confirmed, mentioning the time and place in one breath.

“Okay,” Chi Yao nodded.

After Shen Ling hung up, Chi Yao removed the phone from his ear. As the screen dimmed, Chi Yao saw his reflection—a smiling face paired with icy eyes.

Chi Yao pondered for a moment before texting the club supervisor to ask if he could start later the next day, explaining that something had come up in the morning.

“Sure, you can come in for the evening shift and stay in the company dorm afterward. Don’t forget to bring your things,” the supervisor replied.

“Brother Chen, I live close by—only about a 20-minute drive—so I don’t need the dorm. I have trouble sleeping in unfamiliar places,” Chi Yao explained. In truth, he simply didn’t want to live in the employee dorm. He wasn’t comfortable with strangers, a feeling stemming from what had happened in his past life.

“That’s fine. Just handle your stuff tomorrow. Being late on your first day isn’t a big deal,” the supervisor assured him. This wasn’t special treatment but rather a part of the company’s policy for new hires. During their probationary period, new employees worked fewer hours than the experienced ones.
