Entering the Entertainment Industry? Your Son Might
Fu Rong knew that Chi Yao was going to film a web drama. At first, he thought nothing of it since Chi Yao wasn’t the main character; he was just doing a cameo. Moreover, Chi Yao had never been involved in the film and television industry before, so Fu Rong thought he could have fun however he liked.
That day, while out for dinner, they unexpectedly ran into someone who recognized Chi Yao.
And it wasn’t because of the web drama; it was because of a photo, just a photo of them together. Clearly, they were together, and Chi Yao’s good looks were what attracted online users the most.
Fu Rong didn’t feel particularly happy that his wife was so popular; instead, he felt averse to seeing such things happen.
What was the point of entering the entertainment industry?
Chi Yao enjoyed being playful, but if he really got into it and developed a passion for acting, would he just leave Fu Rong and their child at home while he went off to shoot?
Fu Rong imagined a day in the future when he might see Chi Yao on screen, with many people being Chi Yao’s fans, but he, as a husband, could only watch from behind a screen. His expression darkened at the thought.
Recently, it seemed that Chi Yao received another script, and even though the filming was completed in just half a day, Chi Yao surprisingly took their baby to the set.
What did that indicate?
Was Chi Yao truly falling in love with acting and intending to enter the entertainment industry?
At that point, should he stop him or not?
Fu Rong had no idea that his opinion was insignificant to Chi Yao; once Chi Yao made up his mind, it was hard for anyone to change it.
Fu Rong found the meal uncomfortable. While he was initially happy that Chi Yao and their baby came to visit him, the little incident in the middle left him feeling anything but pleased. In fact, he wished Chi Yao and the baby hadn’t come so that no one would take their pictures.
With the internet being so developed, it was common for certain people to enter the entertainment industry based solely on a few pictures. Although capital would later get involved, with Chi Yao’s looks, even without good acting skills, he would undoubtedly attract many fans if he really went in.
Fu Rong held the baby’s small hand, looking down at his child with Chi Yao before raising his gaze to Chi Yao, who seemed to be unconcerned about what had just happened.
But Fu Rong couldn’t treat it as just a trivial matter.
It was Chi Yao’s first time acting in a web drama, which could be seen as a spur-of-the-moment curiosity. Now, suddenly having a second opportunity—was there going to be a third or a fourth? What if Chi Yao really grew to love acting? What could he do then?
Fu Rong knew Chi Yao’s personality; he couldn’t stop him from having fun. He had promised himself to indulge Chi Yao, to let him leave home and go on business trips for a month or even longer, as long as it made Chi Yao happy.
However, Fu Rong felt quite uncomfortable.
Chi Yao didn’t pay much attention to Fu Rong. After dark, they went to a small square with a fountain. Holding the baby between them, they watched as the child looked up at the fountain, which shot out water that shimmered with colorful lights.
That night, they returned to the hotel to sleep. A nanny was with them, but since both Chi Yao and Fu Rong were there, they temporarily left the nanny behind when they went out. After arriving at the hotel, Chi Yao sent the baby to the nanny and said he needed to talk to Fu Rong.
The baby obediently left; after playing all day, he was indeed tired and soon fell asleep after a bath.
Chi Yao didn’t feel too sleepy. After returning, he noticed that Fu Rong’s expression seemed off, which was why he had the baby leave—to have some time alone with Fu Rong.
After taking a shower, Chi Yao wore his pajamas and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window. Fu Rong looked as if he wanted to smoke.
Both of them had quit smoking for a long time since they had a little one at home.
Chi Yao then wrapped his arms around Fu Rong’s shoulders and kissed him.
“If you have something to say, just say it. I can’t guess what’s on your mind.”
They were already married; Chi Yao hoped Fu Rong would be open with him about any issues.
He would change what he could, and for what he couldn’t, he would try to compromise.
“Are you going to enter the entertainment industry?” Fu Rong asked straightforwardly.
It didn’t make sense to keep thinking randomly here; it was better to just ask Chi Yao directly about his thoughts.
“Why do you ask that?” When had he ever shown an interest in the entertainment industry?
“Aren’t you filming two web dramas?”
It seemed like someone sought Chi Yao out without any selectivity.
“It just happened to be a good fit. It should be available online soon, and then you’ll see why I went.”
“I’m not interested in the entertainment industry and won’t go.”
Chi Yao stated plainly; he wouldn’t lie about this.
Fu Rong stared into Chi Yao’s eyes and understood what he meant. He should have asked earlier instead of letting his mind wander.
But then Chi Yao’s next sentence caused Fu Rong’s heart to sink again.
“I’m not interested, but I don’t know if our son is. He seems to like acting.”
Normally, he loved acting and was quite talented. Chi Yao smiled, remembering how Chi Yan had followed him to the filming site the other day, looking so curious. He wasn’t so sure anymore.
“If he likes it, then let him go.” Fu Rong thought about it; if the baby really liked acting, then it would be fine for him to pursue it.
He was their child; no one could take Chi Yan away from them.
But Chi Yan’s father was different. Fu Rong had a strong possessiveness over his wife, and Chi Yao was someone who loved to play.
That’s why Fu Rong didn’t want to see Chi Yao enter the entertainment industry.
“Don’t worry, I won’t go in; your son is another matter.” His words were casual; as long as it didn’t cause problems they couldn’t solve, it would be fine.
Chi Yao knew that the child had a quirky personality, just like him, but he also had a side from Fu Rong, which meant he had two faces. People who weren’t familiar with him could easily be deceived by his innocent facade.
But Chi Yao was clear that the little guy had both angelic and devilish sides.
So, was he really his child?
Fu Rong embraced Chi Yao, content to have Chi Yao’s confirmation.
Chi Yao playfully pushed Fu Rong, sending him onto the sofa, and then sat in Fu Rong’s lap.
“The night is still long; let’s have some fun.”
Similar to the earlier activities, Chi Yao seemed intent on exhausting Fu Rong’s pent-up energy from the past few days. What could Fu Rong do but go along with Chi Yao?
Moreover, he was indeed craving Chi Yao both physically and emotionally.
Chi Yao and the baby left the next afternoon, saying that the surprise should be brief; if it lasted too long, the excitement would lose its charm.
Fu Rong drove them to the airport, wishing he could drop everything and go back with his wife and child.
As Chi Yao approached, surrounded by people coming and going, he didn’t care who saw. He went straight up and kissed Fu Rong.
They embraced and kissed at the airport, while the baby watched. After Chi Yao and Fu Rong shared a deep kiss, the baby tugged at their hands, wanting to share a light kiss, too.
Both men crouched down and planted a kiss on each of the baby’s cheeks.
“Work hard; this family relies on you to support it.” Chi Yao said this deliberately, as if he and the baby were being supported by Fu Rong.
In reality, his own assets weren’t much less than Fu Rong’s; it was enough for him and the baby to spend freely.
Fu Rong caught Chi Yao’s hand, wanting to hold back the urge to leave with them: “Alright, you and the baby be careful on the way. I’ll be back in a few days.”
A month?
That was certainly out of the question; he would return in about a week, at most.
Fu Rong now understood that he and Chi Yao expressed love differently. This person cared for him and loved him; if he didn’t love him, he wouldn’t have married him or let their baby call him ‘dad.’
He realized he was actually doubting Chi Yao’s love for him.
Fu Rong felt that his past self was really foolish.
He watched as Chi Yao and their baby left.
Chi Yao held the baby and let him wave goodbye to Fu Rong.
“Bye-bye, Daddy!” The baby called out with a sweet voice, especially adorable.
Fu Rong waved back and said goodbye.
As the plane took off into the blue sky, Fu Rong couldn’t help but smile.
After returning, Chi Yao received a call from an unfamiliar number. When he answered, he found it was from a certain actor named Lu Qing, with whom he had collaborated twice.
The first time, Lu Qing had played the second male lead, and in this web drama, he was the male lead.
However, during both shoots, Chi Yao didn’t have much interaction with Lu Qing, as they hadn’t shared any scenes.
Chi Yao remembered Lu Qing as someone who seemed a bit aloof but was very considerate of those around him.
He really appeared to love the acting profession.
Lu Qing said he got Chi Yao’s number from the director and wanted to know if Chi Yao was free to have a meal together. It would be even better if Chi Yao could bring the baby along.
Lu Qing also mentioned that there was another friend with him.
When Chi Yao heard the name, it sounded a bit familiar, but he couldn’t recall who it was because it was too common.
Initially, Chi Yao planned to take the baby along, but since the baby had come down with a slight cold—not too serious—Chi Yao decided to keep him home to rest for a couple of days.
Chi Yao drove alone to the agreed location, and when he opened the door, he unexpectedly saw another familiar face.
The other person immediately stood up, looking at Chi Yao with eyes that sparkled with excitement.
Chi Yao squinted, surprised to see this person here.
He didn’t believe in coincidences, so he walked over, and Lu Qing pulled out a chair for him to sit down.
“Chi Yao, you know each other, right?” From their expressions while looking at each other, it seemed they were indeed familiar.
“Yes,” Chi Yao nodded slightly, not revealing much.
“It’s really a coincidence. When I first met him, I almost mistook him for you; you two look so much alike from behind and even in profile,” Lu Qing explained directly. Chi Yao thought that was quite a coincidence.
“I called your name back then, and Xiao Dong actually recognized you. However, he didn’t have your number and, like me, wanted to invite you for a meal. Later, you ended up coming to the set again, and I thought this must be fate.”
Lu Qing laughed heartily, clearly unaware of the nature of Chi Yao’s relationship with the boy, as the boy hadn’t mentioned it to him.
Chi Yao had no intention of bringing up past matters.
That was already in the past.
