Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 82

The Little One Bullies

After more than a week, Xu Dong got Chi Yao’s address and set up a time with him in advance. On the scheduled day, Chi Yao wasn’t home, but there were people in the house, including a nanny, so he told Xu Dong to go ahead, measure the baby, and make a few outfits.

This was Chi Yao’s way of throwing some business to Xu Dong’s studio. Since Xu Dong somewhat resembled him, Chi Yao seemed to show a bit of favor to anyone who looked a little like him—even if it was just the face.

Some people, when they first met Xu Dong, would mistake him for Chi Yao. However, after interacting a bit, they would quickly realize he was not Chi Yao.

After having dinner with Chi Yao that day, Xu Dong went back and cut his hair short. Though it wasn’t as short as a buzz cut, it was noticeably different from Chi Yao’s style. He even dyed it a bluish-gray this time.

When Xu Dong arrived at Chi Yao’s house, he mentally prepared himself, but seeing Chi Yao’s son, Chi Yan, still surprised him. The little guy was playing on the carpet, looking like a tiny prince, with a sense of unreality about him.

A servant came over and told the baby that a guest had arrived at the house.

When Chi Yao left, he had mentioned to Chi Yan that an uncle would come to make him some clothes, and the baby had cheerfully agreed to cooperate.

But when he looked up and saw Xu Dong’s face, which resembled his father so much, the smile on the little one’s face vanished.

Xu Dong approached and crouched down to introduce himself to Chi Yan.

The little guy climbed onto the couch by himself, his small body looking like it would sink into the oversized seat, staring at this man who looked so much like his dad with an unhappy expression. The way he looked at Xu Dong, though he was still young, reminded Xu Dong of a familiar sense of pressure.

The aura the little guy gave off was surprisingly similar to Fu Rong—not Chi Yao, but Fu Rong.

Xu Dong remembered a time when he met Fu Rong, who had grabbed his arm and stared at him intensely. Thinking back on it still left him with a bit of lingering fear.

This child, who looked like Chi Yao, gave off an aura almost identical to Fu Rong’s. Everyone knew the child was Chi Yao’s and had no relation to Fu Rong, although the baby also called Fu Rong “Daddy.” Still, with his resemblance to Chi Yao, he couldn’t possibly have a blood relation to Fu Rong.

However, seeing Chi Yan’s imposing little expression, anyone unfamiliar with the family might even think he was Fu Rong’s biological son.

Xu Dong pushed those thoughts down and walked over to explain to Chi Yan, no longer treating him like a small child but as an honored guest.

He explained that his dad had asked him to come to take Chi Yan’s measurements so he could make some clothes.

“No, I don’t need it. You can go.” Chi Yan’s little legs couldn’t reach the floor, so he waved them in the air. He was already feeling annoyed enough to kick Xu Dong, but he knew his dad would scold him if he did.

So Chi Yan held back.

“Leave,” he said. Someone who looked so much like his dad, showing up at his house… Chi Yan didn’t like this person.

With puffed-up cheeks, he ignored the servant trying to persuade him and shot them a glare.

Seeing this, Xu Dong instantly knew who this child’s temperament resembled. He took out his phone and, before dialing, consulted the little guy.

“Your dad said that if you don’t cooperate, I should contact him. Chi Yan—is that right? Do you want me to make this call?”

Xu Dong spoke slowly so the baby could clearly understand.

Chi Yan understood. This man was threatening him by bringing up his dad. How awful.

What a bad guy.

Chi Yan raised his little hand and smacked Xu Dong’s phone to the floor.

The floor was carpeted, so the phone made no sound when it hit the ground.

Xu Dong was a little surprised. He smiled, bent down to pick up the phone, and looked into Chi Yan’s furious eyes, his heart amused by the little guy’s adorable temper.

With the servants nearby, Xu Dong held back slightly.

“Do you think I should make the call?” Xu Dong asked the little one again.

Clearly, the little guy had some fear of his dad.

Chi Yan huffed without saying a word, but Xu Dong understood what that attitude meant.

“Your dad just wants you to have more comfortable clothes. The fabric from my studio is very nice, and you’re sure to like it,” Xu Dong said gently. “If you don’t like it, you can slap my hand later.”

Xu Dong extended his hand, suggesting Chi Yan could slap it if he was unhappy.

The little one didn’t wait until later—he immediately brought his small hand down and slapped Xu Dong.

The sound was crisp, but it didn’t hurt at all.

Xu Dong moved in to pick up the baby to measure his body size, but Chi Yan pushed him away, clearly not liking to be touched casually.

Standing on the carpet, the little one revealed his personality, but with such an adorable face, any personality was endearing.

Xu Dong suddenly felt a bit fortunate. If he didn’t resemble Chi Yao somewhat, he probably wouldn’t have had the chance to set foot in this house.

Xu Dong then focused on his task, taking measurements and noting down the details. He even did a little survey, asking about the colors and patterns the baby liked, to use as a reference later.

The baby noticed that Xu Dong wasn’t so unpleasant after all. Though he still kept a cool face, he cooperated earnestly.

Once Xu Dong finished his work, it was time to leave.

Suddenly, the little guy spoke up: “Water!”

Xu Dong paused, looking at the baby pointing toward the water cup, signaling for him to get it himself.

He grabbed a paper cup, filled it halfway, and drank it, thanking the baby afterward.

The baby, with an air of pride, responded with a faint “Hmm.”

Xu Dong couldn’t resist; he reached out to pinch the baby’s soft, white cheek but got his hand swatted away.

The baby’s briefly friendly expression turned cold again, glaring at Xu Dong with displeasure.

Xu Dong apologized, saying he’d come back once the clothes were ready.

“No need to come,” the baby replied.

Xu Dong nodded. “Okay, I’ll have someone else deliver the clothes.”

Just as he was about to leave, someone opened the door. Fu Rong entered, immediately spotting Xu Dong and raising an eyebrow.

He probably never expected to see this somewhat familiar face in his house, and it looked like Xu Dong had been here for a while.

Xu Dong was equally surprised. He hadn’t expected Fu Rong to return at this time and took a sharp breath.

Fu Rong’s calm gaze made Xu Dong’s palms sweat.

“Mr. Fu, Chi Shao asked me to come. I run a clothing studio, and Chi Shao invited me to make some clothes for your son.”

Xu Dong quickly explained his purpose and reason for being there, to avoid any misunderstanding—he wasn’t here for any other reason.

Fu Rong instantly understood that this must have been Chi Yao’s idea. Without his permission, no one else would be in this house.

He nodded, noticing that the baby’s cheeks seemed puffed up, so he asked Xu Dong, “Did he cooperate?”

“Young Master was very obedient and cooperative,” Xu Dong replied with a smile, avoiding further detail.

Chi Yan, who was watching Xu Dong from behind Fu Rong, pouted upon hearing this—yes, that’s how it should be.

Xu Dong left, and Fu Rong walked over to his son. The baby beamed, “Daddy, carry me!”

Fu Rong lifted him up. “You didn’t bully him, did you?”

Fu Rong had a feeling that the little one probably had bullied Xu Dong. That guy’s gaze had been a bit evasive, and he’d glanced at Chi Yan as if hiding something.

Unlike Chi Yao, Fu Rong knew his son well; he was clever.

“He, Daddy, hmph, I don’t like him.” The baby didn’t like this man who resembled Chi Yao.

“They may look alike, but they’re entirely different. No one would mistake them,” Fu Rong said. He, too, had known right away upon first meeting Xu Dong that he wasn’t Chi Yao.

In a way, Fu Rong felt a bit grateful to Xu Dong. Had it not been for Xu Dong’s appearance, Fu Rong might never have gone on to investigate Chi Yao, visited that hospital, and learned about Chi Yao’s pregnancy.

If not for him, Fu Rong might not be holding Chi Yan today, hearing him call him “Daddy.”

Holding his son, Fu Rong said, “That uncle helped me a lot. Without him, I might not be with you now, so next time, be a little nicer to him.”

The baby didn’t fully understand, but since his dad wasn’t upset with him for bullying that person, he would be a bit nicer next time.

Fu Rong had come home to pick up some things. Normally, he’d send his assistant, but he wanted to see his son. He’d had to leave early that morning before the baby was even awake. Now that his son was up, he asked if he wanted to come to the office with him.

Although the baby had plenty of toys and everything he wanted at home, he still felt lonely without his dads around. As long as his dad was there, he was happy to play on his own.

The little one nodded eagerly, “Yes.”

Fu Rong carried him to the car and took him to the office, sending a message to Chi Yao to let him know he was at his office with the baby so that Chi Yao wouldn’t worry if he came home to find the baby gone.

Fu Rong had arranged for one of the empty rooms at the office to be set up with play equipment, so when the baby came, he could play there. Other executives sometimes brought their kids to the office, and all the children stayed in that room, with someone assigned to keep an eye on them to ensure nothing happened.

The other children all knew who Chi Yan was; their parents had told them that he was the child of their dads’ boss, and they were not to pick on him. Besides, Chi Yan was so adorable that both the boys and girls were naturally drawn to him.

Chi Yan was the youngest among the children, so even if he weren’t Fu Rong’s child, the others would still let him have his way.

Surrounded by the others, who offered him their toys, Chi Yan looked around. He had all of these things at home, so he didn’t want the used toys they were giving him.

Chi Yan climbed up onto the slide and slid down. At the bottom, a child stood ready to catch him and reached out to pull him up.

Chi Yan pulled away, his face cold. “Don’t touch me.” He didn’t like it when strangers touched him freely.
