☆ Chapter 5
Ling Shaoze waited anxiously for a while, his heart pounding. Finally, the holographic screen projected from his light brain displayed a reply from “Pervert Y”—
“Let’s see when my obsession with you fades. Maybe it won’t take a year, or maybe even a year won’t be enough. Whether I give up on you or not, casually sleeping around isn’t a good habit—it’s harmful and brings no benefit to you.”
With Ling Shaoze’s excessively beautiful looks and his stunning figure, paired with his uninhibited personality, and his habit of carelessly provoking people, it was hard to say when he might run into someone utterly depraved.
Even the esteemed Marshal He Yi, who clearly hadn’t liked the boy’s temperament at first, still couldn’t resist the youth’s deliberate seduction.
Men were, after all, creatures of instinct. What’s often called “love at first sight” was, more often than not, just lust.
And once they’d had a taste, but couldn’t get enough, they were bound to be unwilling to let go.
Now He Yi didn’t even want to act like a decent person anymore—his mind was full of the boy’s intoxicating expressions and gestures from the night before. He couldn’t bear the thought of the boy showing that same charm to someone else.
Ling Shaoze was mentally shouting WTF.
Ling Shaoze: “……”
Ling Shaoze: “So what would make you give up on me?”
Pervert Y: “No idea. Right now, I find you cute no matter how I look at you. How about we do it a few more times? [Smiling.JPG]”
Ling Shaoze hesitated for a few seconds. He still felt he hadn’t had enough of Y-gege’s god-tier body either.
But thinking about how just one night had turned this guy into clingy, sticky tape—and with that kind of overbearing and forceful threat on top of it…
If it happened a few more nights, could he even escape? At that point, forget a year—he might lose his freedom for life.
His dream of roaming the stars and seas had only just begun and he was already about to crash and burn. Tragic couldn’t even begin to describe it!
Ling Shaoze quickly locked onto his objective—to make Pervert Y forget him, dislike him, and give up on him—as soon as possible, all without triggering any of Y’s threatening bottom lines.
Honestly, after such an unlucky start, Ling Shaoze wasn’t exactly eager to dive into more hands-on “Research into the Grand Harmony of Life.”
So he opened the interstellar era’s online shopping platform and searched for products related to solo research on the Grand Harmony of Life. His eyes were opened to a whole new world.
After extensive comparisons, he chose the DaMeng[1]Big Fierce No. 1 robot, with perfect specs and ultra-long endurance, and added it to his shopping cart.
Then he picked a BaiXiao[2]Little White No. 0 robot, with a gorgeous face and seductive figure, and shared the product page with Pervert Y.
He even copied and pasted the ad slogan:
“XXX-brand robot—so your long nights will never be lonely again. Safe, hygienic, top performance—only 99,998 star coins. You deserve it~”
Then he blocked him again.
Little Lingling, feeling quite smug after his little act of mischief, drifted off to sweet sleep with a satisfied grin.
Meanwhile, in the luxurious suite next door, Mr. Pervert Y—who had been staring at his communication screen for ages—finally received a reply from the contact saved as “Xiao Ze Is So Cute“:
…?!
He Yi gritted his teeth and sent a voice message:
“One more thing—within this year, you’re not allowed to be with anyone else, and you’re absolutely forbidden from buying this kind of robot.”
He was the grand Marshal of the empire, blessed with 3S-level spiritual power and 3S-level physique—the top powerhouse in the entire Cangnuo Empire. How could he possibly accept that his charm lost out to some #¥%&^ robot!
But in the very next second…
[Your message has been rejected.]
He Yi: …
Now it was the Marshal He’s turn to toss and turn in frustration, utterly unable to sleep.
He had to forcefully restrain himself from smashing through the thin alloy wall and giving that little brat next door an on-the-spot life lesson.
Instead, He Yi opened his contact list and called an old classmate—Major General Zhuo Yingbai—via voice call.
If it was something he wasn’t good at, he’d find someone who was. That was rule number one of being a good Marshal.
Zhuo Yingbai was a true expert when it came to love—fluent in both genders, with a long string of exes across the ten major star regions of the Empire, with numbers well into the triple digits.
The rare thing was, every one of them had been willing, and even after the breakups, things always ended amicably.
He Yi didn’t care about how things ended well—he only wanted to know how to make that little brat willingly stay by his side.
The call was quickly picked up.
On the other end was a loud, rowdy background—sounded like a bar—with a woman’s soft flirtatious voice chiming in:
“Zhuo-ge, who is it?”
He Yi cut straight to the chase:
“Old Zhuo, I need to consult you on something important.”
Hearing the solemn tone of his old classmate—who also happened to be his current boss and superior—Zhuo Yingbai quickly responded,
“Give me ten seconds.”
He politely bid a quick farewell to the beautiful lady he had just hooked up with, and within seconds, found an empty storage room. He even set up two small anti-reconnaissance and anti-snooping devices before responding with all seriousness:
“Alright, Old He. Go ahead.”
Marshal He slowly said,
“How do I trick a little brat into falling into my trap—and make sure he never crawls back out?”
Old Zhuo, who had thought the Marshal was calling with some urgent, high-stakes mission:
“…What?!”
Zhuo Yingbai, who double-checked the caller ID—Yep, it was indeed He Yi.
He asked in disbelief,
“Old He, who the hell pissed you off? You’re usually the type to let your fists do the talking. Didn’t you used to beat people till they cried and called you Daddy?”
He Yi: …
Well, he did make the kid cry. So much so that his voice went hoarse.
The little brat had not only called him Daddy, but also “Good gege”, “Dear Husband”…
Maybe he’d gone a little overboard during that one lesson… Now the little guy wouldn’t even call him gege anymore—he just wanted to run the second he saw him.
In order to one day hear more sweet cries of “Good gege” and “Dear Husband,” He Yi, though not one to normally talk about his private affairs, still ended up recounting the key details of the situation to Zhuo Yingbai.
On the other end, Zhuo Yingbai was so shocked his jaw almost hit the floor. Holy crap—the iron tree finally bloomed, the old house caught fire, and He Yi had actually been stirred by a twenty-year-old boy?! He’d fallen for him first!
Gotta admit, everyone has their own area of expertise.
Marshal He and Major General Zhuo ended up holding a strategy meeting that lasted two to three hours. They proposed and shot down dozens of half-baked or over-the-top plans before finally settling on one that He Yi thought was the most reliable.
The next day, Ling Shaoze woke up refreshed after a great night’s sleep. But then he remembered the “brilliant” move he pulled last night and felt a delayed wave of anxiety. What if that pervert was already waiting outside his door?
He checked the hallway through the visual surveillance and confirmed that no one was there, but he still didn’t dare go outside. Instead, he survived the day on nutrient solutions and stayed holed up in his luxury suite.
Fortunately, the interstellar era’s internet was far more advanced than anything back in the 21st century. Even without stepping a foot outside, you could still freely surf the web.
Ling Shaoze casually browsed all kinds of information using his light brain, familiarizing himself with the latest news and common knowledge of this era.
During his browsing, a pop-up ad repeatedly appeared on his interface—it was for a full-dive holographic MMO called “Eternal Legend Online.”
After seeing it for so many times, Ling Shaoze, who had been a total game addict in his previous life and was now quite curious about holographic games, finally clicked in to check out the promotional page.
This game was the latest masterpiece developed by elite teams from “Zhuo Games Unlimited”, a veteran company in the industry. It had been over twelve years in the making, undergone three rounds of closed beta testing, and was set to launch publicly in ten days.
The game world was inspired by Western fantasy from ancient Earth, featuring three major factions: Humans, Demons, and Celestials. It also included a wide variety of playable classes—Elemental Mage, Swordsman, Archer, Assassin, Priest, and more.
Ling Shaoze’s eyes lit up.
Given his current situation, it wasn’t exactly ideal for him to run wild across the stars just yet. First, he might accidentally stumble into some annoying side-plot involving the protagonist cast and get cannon-foddered without warning. Second… he needed to avoid attracting any further attention from the Pervert Y next door.
If that guy saw him flirting with someone else in the real world, who knew what crazy stunt he might pull?
So yes, the gods might’ve shut a door—but they’d opened a window!
He couldn’t play around in real life, but he could go wild in the star network!
Even if Pervert Y somehow managed to track what he did online, it wouldn’t technically count as breaking any of Y’s imposed restrictions.
The more wild and scandalous he acted online, the faster Y would lose interest in him!
Ling Shaoze looked up other full-dive holographic games on the star network, but most of them were about mechas and interstellar warfare.
He was somewhat interested, but he knew next to nothing about this era’s high-tech weapons. In contrast, “Eternal Legend Online”, with its familiar Western fantasy setting from ancient Earth, was much more to his liking.
He opened the preorder page for the “Eternal Legend Online” gaming pod and, without hesitation, reserved the most expensive “Deluxe Pod”.
He left the delivery address blank for now—after all, there were still ten days until open beta started.
Ling Shaoze was very excited and wished he could jump straight right into the game. He wasn’t even looking forward to the already-paid-for seven-day tour of the Violet Star District anymore (especially since that annoying Pervert Y was going too).
He tapped on Assistant Xiao Tao’s chat window and sent a voice message: “How’s the information collection for the school transfer going?”
Xiao Tao replied, “It’s almost done, I’ll send it to you right now. Young Master Xiao Ba, please take a look first.”
Soon, Ling Shaoze received the information from Xiao Tao.
Xiao Tao had done a thorough and considerate job, collecting information on over twenty prestigious universities ranked behind Annuo University. Each school’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as those of the star systems they were in, were clearly marked.
After comparing them for a while, Ling Shaoze quickly chose one of the lower-ranked ones—Shuilan University.
This university didn’t rank very high among the empire’s elite schools—only around twentieth place.
But the advantage was that it was located on Shuilan Star, a border planet between the Cangnuo Empire and the Evergreen Star Alliance. It was far from the Central Star District—it would take a full week even by the fastest starship.
The environment and flora and fauna on Shuilan Star were very similar to ancient Earth, and it boasted the empire’s largest simulated ancient Earth sightseeing area.
The Evergreen Star Alliance was full of peace-loving plant-people and had a good relationship with the Cangnuo Empire, with almost no history of war—making the safety index high.
Ling Shaoze sent Xiao Tao a message: “Let’s go with Shuilan University. Help me handle the transfer procedures as quickly as possible. Also, rent a place near the campus!”
Although his account had eight figures in pocket money, he might have to flee again someday—keeping more cash on hand was practical. Renting was more cost-effective than buying.
Xiao Tao: “Got it, I’ll get on it right away.”
With his new destination for study and life confirmed—and with the public beta of “Eternal Legend” just ten days away—Ling Shaoze completely lost interest in the romantic couple-tourist destination of Violet Star District.
He immediately booked a flight from Violet Star’s spaceport to Shuilan Star, scheduled to leave just one hour after arriving on Violet Star. The journey would take six and a half days.
Ling Shaoze didn’t know exactly what Pervert Y did for a living, nor did he want to ask, but judging by his mature and composed demeanor, he clearly wasn’t a student. Any normal adult would have a job.
For that guy to follow him to Violet Star, he must’ve taken a few days off. After all, Violet Star wasn’t far from the Central Star District—just a one-day trip.
But Shuilan Star was different. It spanned over half the empire, and just the round trip would take two weeks.
After being tense all day, Ling Shaoze finally breathed a sigh of relief. This time, there’s no way Pervert Y would keep following him!
Meanwhile, in the luxury suite next door, He Yi was in high spirits after hearing from Zhuo Yingbai that the official website of Zhuo Games Unlimited had received Ling Shaoze’s game pod order.
Step one of his plan: success √.
He Yi messaged Zhuo Yingbai: “Switch Xiao Ze’s pod to the military-customized Special Edition B-Model that’s linked to mine. I’ll cover the price difference.”
The military-customized game pod surpassed even the deluxe model in performance—bulletproof and not available for sale no matter how rich you were.
Most importantly, once Ling Shaoze logged in using that pod, He Yi would be able to track him, no matter what alias he used.
Now that the little guy was clearly on high alert and wanted nothing to do with him, it was best not to show his face in person too often. But… he could interact with him in-game using a different identity.
Wait… why was the kid suddenly heading off to such a faraway place like Shuilan Star?
Probably to avoid him.
Looks like he really did scare him too much yesterday.
No problem—he still had nearly two years of vacation left. So, he booked a ticket to Shuilan Star too!
But this time, to avoid raising Ling Shaoze’s guard, Huo Yi didn’t pick the cabin next door. He also didn’t plan to reveal his presence, opting for a different cabin on the same flight instead.
After finishing all this, He Yi couldn’t help but think: I really do feel a bit like a pervert now.
