☆ Chapter 9
The top-ranked assassin on the leaderboard, the mysterious and twisted “Shadowless,” was forced to retreat step by step by a “little loli.” He was too embarrassed to admit that he really liked the way Ling Shaoze looked in women’s clothing.
No matter what identity he had when being with Ling Shaoze, if their relationship ever succeeded, they’d eventually have to meet in real life. What if the young boy thought he didn’t actually like him for who he was, or worse, that he had some strange fetish?
The man turned his face away to avoid making eye contact with the “little loli,” coughed lightly, and said, “You looked good in men’s clothing too.”
Whatever form the young boy took, he liked them all.
Ling Shaoze, on the other hand, focused on the word “too.” It seemed this top assassin was quite the repressed flirt—he actually liked both his mature male look and his cute female look.
Ling Shaoze immediately clung to the arm of the sickly, devil-looking Wuying and shamelessly asked in a loli voice, “Then, Wuying-gege, do you want to try being my boyfriend for a week?”
He Yì, who had still been wondering how to take their relationship further in the game: …?!
The Marshal’s heart was filled with both joy and frustration.
Was this guy this forward with everyone?
Wait, no. Back outside the newbie village, those guys and girls who tried to strike up a conversation with him never even got a good look from him.
Even in real life, before meeting him, Ling Shaoze had only shown some affection for his grandnephew He Yuteng, and had always been reserved and polite—never this bold.
Only during that birthday banquet night, when he drank the spiked wine and planned to offer himself to He Yuteng, did he come close—but he changed his mind last minute, and the one who actually got the benefit was He Yì himself.
Now that Ling Shaoze was actively flirting with “Wuying,” it was still, at the end of the day, with him.
Marshal He was feeling jealous… of his own in-game avatar, while straightforwardly agreeing, “Okay.”
Ling Shaoze went on, “As long as Wuying-gege agrees to be my boyfriend, you’ll get to have both a boyfriend and a girlfriend at the same time… Eh? You agreed!”
This guy had a face that screamed twisted, sickly, and dangerous—who knew he’d be so easy to flirt with? One move and he was in the bag!
Ling Shaoze was shocked. Was his charm really that strong?
No, maybe it was just that his game avatar—capable of being male ♂ or female ♀, mature or childish—happened to perfectly hit this guy’s twisted kink.
Ling Shaoze, for some reason, started to feel a tiny bit of regret. Had he, by accident, provoked another pervert on the same level as that Pervert Y?
Ling Shaoze quickly emphasized, “This is just a trial relationship. It’s limited to one week. After that, either of us can break up unconditionally, and neither party is allowed to pester or cling to the other post-breakup!”
He Yì could more or less guess it—this little guy was probably trying to exploit a loophole in the threats he’d sent in real life. He likely thought that messing around in the game didn’t count as cheating and that, once his real-life self found out about his in-game antics, he’d be disgusted and give up on him.
The little guy had no interest in the people outside the newbie village who’d tried hitting on him. First, because they really didn’t look as good as his system-generated avatar; second, probably because none of them were famous enough.
He Yì didn’t feel like dwelling on what to do when their “breakup” came a week later. He had seven alts already, and if he wanted more, creating more wasn’t a problem.
As for those ranked second, third, fourth, and fifth on the class leaderboards—heh, he’d hunt them down until they were too scared to even think about dating the little guy.
So, no matter how wild Ling Shaoze got in-game or how many boyfriends he “dated,” they’d all still be him in disguise anyway.
Thinking about it like that, He Yì realized he really was a pervert—but then again, it was kind of a thrilling thought.
The seemingly shy and innocent, yet possibly kink-loving, top-ranked assassin Wuying didn’t hesitate to gently grip the small, soft, fair hand of the “little girl” who barely reached his chest. “Mm. Then from now on, I’m your boyfriend.”
Ling Shaoze was once again stunned and baffled. A relationship that ends in a week? This kind of trashy line was obviously something only a player chasing novelty would say—And this guy accepted it just like that?!
The top-ranked assassin with the yandere, and sickly-beautiful face tried to keep a cool expression, but his inner thoughts were like a crazed fanboy on repeat: Wife’s hand is so tiny, so soft, so nice to touch!
But when he saw the “little girl’s” confused and dazed expression, the top assassin god mentally scolded himself, then raised his other hand and gently ruffled her hair.
Ling Shaoze, suddenly ambushed by a head pat: …?
So what if he’s tall! For all he knew, this guy probably just boosted his height by 10 cm in the character settings!
Even so, Wuying was definitely quite a bit taller than him in real life too.
Ling Shaoze had a hard time accepting that he’d become a “shortie,” but after activating the “Red-faced Calamity” transformation skill, he had to wait at least an hour before he could switch back to his main character. Besides, this alt was just a Level 0 mage right now—he needed to hurry and level it up.
Annoyed, Ling Shaoze smacked away his newly appointed boyfriend’s big hand. “Don’t just randomly touch my head! Heads can be lost, but hairstyles must not be messed up—got it?! Now hurry up and help me grind!”
This fake loli had one hell of a temper.
Like he’d just snagged himself a boyfriend and was already trying to scare him off.
Wuying gently grabbed the kid’s hand and looked at it with concern, noticing a very realistic pink mark in the palm. Above his head, a small “-1” damage debuff floated. “Does it hurt? Come on, take some healing potion.”
He pulled out over a dozen top-tier red potions (for players under level 30) from his inventory and shoved them into Ling Shaoze’s hands.
Now that high-grade healing potions were only available through microtransactions, one bottle cost 1,000 gold coins—that was 1,000 star coins!
Ling Shaoze: …?!
The hell?! Who uses a high-grade potion to heal a single point of damage?!
He’d figured it out—this new boyfriend of his definitely wasn’t right in the head.
Ling Shaoze’s mouth twitched. He didn’t take the red potions from the man but instead pulled out a low-grade potion from his own backpack and drank it. It tasted like watermelon juice—sweet and refreshing. Pretty tasty, actually.
Wuying stood there holding the pile of potions. “Guoguo, why aren’t you drinking mine? We’re a coupl—uh, boyfriends now. What’s mine is yours, and what’s yours is still yours.”
Ling Shaoze, despite vowing to be a heartless player in the game, didn’t plan on taking advantage of people financially. It’s not like he lacked money—why not just spend the allowance his dad gave him? Why mooch off another men?
Of course, Ling Shaoze wouldn’t directly say he didn’t want them. Instead, he gave a face full of disdain. “I’m only level 0. Using those would be a complete waste. Seriously, don’t you know how to be frugal?”
He’d just gotten this top-ranked assassin as his boyfriend, and now he was already trying to make him give up. Ideally, the guy would be so turned off he’d dump him first.
That way, the real-life pervert Y who might be monitoring his in-game actions would see all his “flaws” and decide he was totally unsuitable as a future partner—and give up on him.
But to his surprise, despite having a face that practically screamed “twisted yandere,” Wuying was incredibly tolerant and doting toward his little boyfriend/girlfriend. Smiling, he said, “Guoguo baby, you’re right. I’ll be more mindful of budgeting from now on.”
Ling Shaoze: …?!
What was with this guy?! This was clearly not the reaction he was expecting!
Maybe it was because they’d just started dating, and the guy had been blinded by how cute and pretty his daughter-like form was. No, scratch that—he was totally bewitched. All logic had flown out the window.
Ling Shaoze snapped, “Boyfriend! Are you gonna help me level up or not?!”
This Maplewood Forest had quite a few low-level, non-aggressive mobs.
Assassins weren’t exactly the ideal class for helping others level up, but Wuying’s control and efficiency were just too good. With him leading the way, Ling Shaoze’s female avatar “Ling Guoguo” gained experience like crazy—less than an hour in, and he’d already reached level 10.
Seeing that his female avatar had hit level 10, Ling Shaoze originally planned to switch back to his male avatar and head for Maplewood Town. But Wuying stopped him. “Your transformation is probably tied to a special title skill, right? If you switch back now, you’ll probably have to wait until tomorrow to use it again. Why not learn some second-tier mage skills in town first, and then switch back to your main priest avatar?”
Ling Shaoze understood the logic, but he still felt awkward showing up in public with this fake loli look…
As if reading his mind, Wuying pulled a black cloak out of his inventory and draped it over him.
Ling Shaoze recognized it—an item exclusive to the Assassin class. Wearing it slightly extended stealth duration, though other classes could equip it as purely cosmetic gear.
He understood instantly and put it on.
In the game, cosmetic gear auto-resized to fit the character’s body. The cloak reached just down to Ling Shaoze’s ankles, not long enough to look like a kid playing dress-up in an adult’s clothes.
But Wuying wasn’t done. He also took out a golden, patterned half-face mask and handed it to Ling Shaoze.
Come to think of it, both his male and female avatars resembled his real-life appearance—so naturally, the two faces had about 60% similarity. Anyone observant could tell they were related.
He didn’t want to expose his female avatar’s identity just yet. Otherwise, he’d have to explain to his friends who Ling Guoguo was, and why she and his main avatar never appeared online at the same time.
Unexpectedly, Wuying then pulled out another half-face mask with a slightly different design but matching style, and put it on himself. He also donned a similar but differently styled cloak.
Now they looked like a couple wearing matching masks and outfits.
Ling Shaoze: …Is this assassin god secretly a hopeless romantic?!
Well, whatever. They were technically a couple now.
The journey from Maplewood Forest to Maplewood Town would take about half an hour—based on the walking speed of Ling Shaoze’s tiny legs, anyway.
With level 30 being the current cap and mounts not yet available, even the top-ranked assassin Wuying didn’t have one. Still, he volunteered to act as a human mount for his little “girlfriend.”
So when Ling Shaoze muttered, “Ugh, walking is so tiring,” he was suddenly scooped up single-handedly by Wuying.
The way he was held was exactly like a child—Ling Shaoze ended up sitting on the man’s right arm…
The sudden lift and the weightlessness that followed made him instinctively wrap his arms around the man’s neck.
The assassin god spoke in a low, calm voice, “It’s faster if I carry you. That way you won’t get tired.”
Ling Shaoze: …
Boyfriend, if your neck weren’t flushed pink and your ears weren’t bright red, I might’ve actually believed you.
