Chapter 48 – This Restroom Really Is a Hotspot for Trouble
Tu Shanju had only ever seen golf being played on TV. It looked quite interesting—but once she actually tried it, she realized it was not her thing.
Why not?
Because her strength was simply too overwhelming.
Her first swing? She tore up a whole chunk of turf.
Second swing? She snapped the metal golf club in half.
Third swing? The ball flew off… and completely vanished—probably landed somewhere outside the entire golf course.
Fourth swing. Fifth swing…
By the tenth swing, not a single ball had landed in the hole.
Standing there watching another golf ball soar off into the distance, Tu Shanju pressed her lips flat.
She thought about it and decided—yeah, maybe golf just wasn’t for her.
Just as she was about to turn around and put the club back, a large hand gently grasped her wrist.
Startled, she turned to look—but a warm presence was already behind her, standing close, not touching her, but enough to feel enveloped.
That familiar cedarwood scent instantly filled her senses.
Xie Shiyu leaned forward slightly, adjusted her stance, and said gently in her ear,
“Don’t rush. You’re just not used to the technique yet.”
He helped adjust her posture. “Angle the club properly. When you’re about to hit, lift your head. As for strength—just use the same force you used when you hit Bai Yu last time.”
Still holding her, he guided her hands with the club, gently controlling her strength.
Thwack.
The white golf ball flew out again.
Swish—straight into the hole.
Tu Shanju’s eyes lit up. “It went in! Xie Shiyu, I got it in!”
She spun around in excitement—completely forgetting that Xie Shiyu was still bent forward behind her to accommodate her height and posture.
Soft warmth touched her brow.
Tu Shanju froze.
Her mind went blank. She didn’t dare move. All she could hear was the pounding of her heart.
Xie Shiyu froze too. His throat visibly bobbed twice before he straightened up swiftly, voice slightly hoarse:
“Sorry—I didn’t mean to.”
Tu Shanju frantically waved her hands. “No no—it was me. I turned around too fast. Uh… I’m… thirsty! I’ll go grab some water!”
Before he could respond, she bolted toward the rest area.
Xie Shiyu watched her awkward, almost stumbling pace, then subconsciously pressed his lips together—his earlobes faintly red.
A moment later, his Adam’s apple moved again, and a low, pleased chuckle escaped his throat. He followed at a leisurely pace.
Tu Shanju practically ran to the rest area. She grabbed her water and gulped several large mouthfuls.
But even that didn’t cool the burning heat on her face.
She finally gave up and pressed the water bottle directly against her cheek.
That was her first time being so physically close to a guy—and it had her completely flustered, her heart still racing uncontrollably.
She had to admit: even if it wasn’t love yet, she definitely felt something for Xie Shiyu.
After all, he was handsome, rich, gentle, and thoughtful.
Plus, as a voice lover, she was absolutely smitten with his voice.
All in all, Xie Shiyu checked every box on her list like a maniac hitting the jackpot.
And not to mention—he was her fiancé, having signed the engagement contract with her.
Now her face wasn’t just burning—it kind of hurt.
She remembered thinking, If he’s not my type, I’d rather live unhappily than marry him—even if my death curse is lifted.
But now…
Could this flustered, shy reaction be what people call “liking someone”?
If that’s what liking felt like, should she confess and start pursuing him?
Tu Shanju had no experience in love. After a few seconds of daydreaming, she decided—no, she shouldn’t be too hasty.
Meanwhile, across from her, Xie Shiyu was secretly watching her expression as he sipped water.
He had no idea that this wonderfully direct future wife of his had almost decided to pursue him, but gave up at the last second… thanks to her calm, rational thinking.
He stole several glances at her—relieved to see that although she was clearly shy, there was no sign of discomfort or rejection.
That was enough to put him at ease.
He didn’t want their newly warming relationship to be ruined by an accidental moment like that.
Actually, it was a good sign.
At least, it showed she didn’t mind physical closeness—a clear step forward.
He capped his bottle and walked over to her, gently taking the cold bottle off her flushed cheek.
“Hungry? Wanna play a little longer, or go eat?”
Tu Shanju was still spacing out, so his sudden gesture startled her—her heart skipped a beat again.
She forced herself to act normal and shook her head. “No more playing. I’m hungry. Let’s go eat.”
“Alright. Go change your clothes and we’ll head out.”
Tu Shanju had changed into the sportswear Xie Shiyu prepared for her, so she had to change back into her original outfit.
Before changing, Xie Shiyu sent a message to Li Kai—who had wisely vanished the moment the accidental kiss happened—asking him to bring the car around.
At the French restaurant, Tu Shanju let Xie Shiyu handle the ordering. He already knew her tastes perfectly by now—after eating out together so many times, he’d never once chosen wrong.
While he ordered, she went to the restroom.
After finishing her business, she moved to the sink to wash her hands.
Another woman stood beside her.
She looked to be in her early forties, but was well-maintained—easily passing for early thirties.
She wore a white qipao embroidered with red roses.
Tu Shanju instantly recognized that dress.
The woman noticed Tu Shanju’s gaze lingering on her clothes. She looked her up and down with a disdainful expression, then pulled a lipstick from her bag and began reapplying.
While doing so, she glanced sideways in the mirror and sneered,
“What? You like this dress I’m wearing?”
Tu Shanju looked up and met her arrogant gaze in the mirror. She didn’t respond.
The woman continued on her own:
“You should know—this dress was custom-made at the most exclusive embroidery atelier in South City. Just one of these costs over 800,000 yuan. Not something little college girls can afford by clinging to rich men.”
Tu Shanju: “…”
Novels didn’t lie—restrooms really were disaster-prone zones.
