Chapter 6: “Whoever’s car is red, that’s the one I’m getting into.”
Second Floor, the Old House.
Xie Shiyu pushed the two heavy suitcases to the doorway of Tu Shanju’s room.
He turned slightly toward her and said, “Miss Tu, this is your room. My mom decorated it based on her ideal version of a daughter. If there’s anything you don’t like, just let me know and I’ll have someone change it. Also, if there’s anything you need, I’ll have someone go buy it.”
Tu Shanju responded with a “Sure” and pushed the door open.
What greeted her eyes was a room filled with pink and white, though thankfully, the white dominated.
She liked white and black—because, in her view, the world was either black or white.
Xie Shiyu stood at the doorway without entering.
Tu Shanju turned and pulled the suitcases in, then thanked him, “Thanks for helping me out just now. I’m not very good at socializing, so in the future…”
She trailed off, hesitating.
For some reason, Xie Shiyu instantly understood her unspoken words.
He chuckled softly, bent down slightly to meet her gaze, and said, “Don’t worry. As long as you’re my wife, you socialize when you want to, and don’t when you don’t want to. No one can force you to do anything you dislike—not even me.”
The moment he bent down, Tu Shanju’s eyes widened as she stood rooted to the spot.
Truthfully, the distance between them was perfectly appropriate for social interaction. There was still a clear gap between them, yet her body instinctively tensed.
Maybe it was her subconscious reminding her—this man was her fiancé, her future husband, the one she would one day share a bed and a life with. That alone made things feel different.
Tu Shanju gulped nervously and quickly nodded, “O-okay. Um, I really like the room. Thanks. I’m going to rest now—bye.”
Bang! The door slammed shut.
Luckily, Xie Shiyu reacted fast, or he would’ve had an up-close and personal encounter with the door.
He stared at the closed door for two seconds, then suddenly burst out laughing.
Tu Shanju quickly tidied up, changed into a new outfit—still in her preferred white, a modern Han-style suit. She moved her fingers slightly and muttered, “I hope Second Brother finds Third Brother soon. Otherwise, I’ll have to go myself.”
Meanwhile, in the suburbs of Nancheng, at a racetrack—
“Beauty, get in my car! Ride with me!”
“Go away, go away, ride with me! I’ll win for you!”
“You losers need to scram. With your lousy driving skills, you dare fight for her? Babe, I’m the racing king around here. Get in my car and I’ll take you flying on the freeway~ Heh heh!”
A crowd of men stood around, mesmerized, staring at the woman sitting on the hood of a sports car.
No matter how their girlfriends tried to call them back, none of the men responded.
Their girlfriends stomped their feet in fury, glaring daggers at the glamorous woman who had appeared out of nowhere.
Under dim lights and flashing car headlights, the roaring of engines filled the air in waves.
This racetrack was a members-only club—regular folks couldn’t get in. Most of the attendees were idle rich kids.
But tonight was special. A major race was happening, so the crowd was bigger than usual.
The moment they heard about it, they rushed over, afraid the venue would be sealed off later.
Most of them were just here to accompany the real racers. The main event was between the Xie family and the Chen family.
It was only just past 8 PM, still early. The key players from the Xie and Chen families hadn’t arrived yet.
As preparations were ongoing, a stunning beauty appeared out of nowhere, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.
The woman played with her wavy hair, eyes sweeping lazily over the men in front of her.
Like they’d been electrocuted, the men could feel every pore and vein pulsing with excitement. Their instincts screamed—they had to win this woman.
She seemed satisfied with the attention, but her gaze didn’t linger on anyone in particular. She merely parted her red lips and said,
“I like red. Whoever’s car is red, I’ll get in his.”
That stumped the men—all the cars they’d driven today weren’t red.
“Why does it have to be red, gorgeous? My Ferrari is top performance, guaranteed win!”
“Yeah, babe, none of us brought a red car today. But if you like red, come home with me tonight. I’ve got a red Aston Martin you can drive.”
The woman shook her head, “Someone once gave me a red car. I loved it to pieces~ So I only ride in red cars now.”
The men were flustered. But a beauty had a request—how could they not fulfill it?
So they all started calling home, trying to get someone to bring them a red car.
Just as they were busy making calls—
A thunderous roar filled the air, leaving ears ringing.
Xie Jingting and Chen Younan had arrived!
Strangely, all the men present suddenly had only one thought in their minds—Get that woman. Everything else faded into the background.
But Xie Jingting and Chen Younan didn’t stop their cars.
They were locked in competition.
They’d made a bet today—whoever lost had to give up their beloved car to the winner.
Of course, they had to go all in.
A red and a silver sports car sped onto the track without even hitting the brakes.
Several more sports cars followed closely behind, but none dared get too close—this race was about the red and silver cars in front.
Back in the crowd, the men turned around—only to find that the woman was gone.
Their eyes went bloodshot as they searched frantically.
They scoured the entire club, top to bottom, but couldn’t find a trace of her.
It was as if she had never existed.
Inside the red Lamborghini—
Xie Jingting’s phone kept flashing and vibrating in his pocket, but he didn’t notice.
At this moment, he was far ahead of Chen Younan, eyebrows raised in smug triumph.
The mountain circuit race took over an hour.
Unsurprisingly, Xie Jingting won—but barely.
He had seen what he thought was a hallucination on the track—a woman. It startled him into briefly hitting the brakes, which let Chen Younan catch up.
He had to work hard to regain the lead.
The red and silver cars, followed by a trail of others, thundered back to the starting point.
The group of rich young men, now more clear-headed, swarmed forward with flattery and admiration.
Chen Younan, face dark, tossed his car keys to Xie Jingting.
“Here. It’s just a stupid car. I don’t even care. But next time—I’ll win! Just wait!”
Xie Jingting twirled the keys around his finger and teased, “Alright then. I look forward to the loser challenging me again~”
Chen Younan rolled his eyes and got into someone else’s car to leave.
After he left, someone approached Xie Jingting and handed him a bottle of water.
“Master Xie, a stunning babe came to the club just now—red qipao, big wavy hair, her looks and figure were drop-dead gorgeous. Oh! And her sultry fox-like eyes—too seductive! But we don’t know where she went. She vanished in a blink.”
Xie Jingting, mid-sip, froze.
That description matched exactly the woman he’d seen earlier on the racetrack—the one who appeared in front of his car and vanished into thin air.
