An Yi froze in place, his still-racing heartbeat making his chest ache from the exertion.
In the past five years, he knew that Yan Chen’s lovers came and went, surely all young and beautiful faces, but this was the first time he had seen it with his own eyes.
The impact of witnessing it firsthand was far more heart-wrenching than he had imagined.
Sometimes he couldn’t understand. Since Yan Chen didn’t lack people and regarded his affection like a ferocious flood, why didn’t he just cut him off cleanly?
But An Yi dared not ask. He was afraid that Yan Chen would really follow the topic and cut ties with him.
He was self-conscious and lacked the courage to let go, so he could only endure Yan Chen’s love for him.
He was waiting for the day when Yan Chen grew tired of him.
Now it seemed that day was coming soon.
As they passed through the revolving door, the boy let go of Yan Chen’s hand, and Yan Chen walked into the lobby first, locking eyes with An Yi as soon as he saw him.
An Yi stood still, watching him approach.
The guy left behind shouted from behind, “Chen ge, wait for me.”
The tone was petulant, but not annoying.
Yan Chen turned a deaf ear and walked straight to An Yi, reaching out to ruffle his newly grown hair, teasing, “Back to the mundane world?”
After speaking, Yan Chen leaned in to kiss him, but An Yi turned his head slightly, casting a cold gaze at the young man who followed behind.
Approaching, he seemed even more handsome, like a star.
No wonder he caught Yan Chen’s eye.
Sensing his scrutiny, the young man showed no signs of discomfort and didn’t care about his eavesdropping at all. He directly asked Yan Chen, “Chen ge, did I do something wrong to make you unhappy? Why did you call someone else?”
Yan Chen glanced at him. “Go back and memorize your lines. The male lead in the next play is a chatterbox.”
“Is that role really for me?!” The young star’s eyes lit up, and he genuinely laughed from the heart. “Thank you, Chen ge! I won’t disturb you anymore. Have fun!”
With that, he slyly winked at An Yi and turned to leave.
His departing figure was elegant and brisk, leaving An Yi with mixed feelings.
If he had that kind of courage, not moving sincerely, but purely pursuing exchanges of interest, he wouldn’t be feeling so uncomfortable.
An Yi followed Yan Chen into the elevator, but before the doors closed, he was forcefully pushed back into a corner by Yan Chen, who kissed his lips.
Yan Chen kissed him fiercely, hardly giving him a chance to breathe. Before long, An Yi was left dizzy and weak-legged from the kiss, sliding down against the wall.
Yan Chen effortlessly scooped him up with one hand.
“Don’t,” An Yi glanced at the camera overhead, concerned. “We might be caught on camera.”
“What are you afraid of? The photos you sent me this morning were more revealing.” Yan Chen pinched his waist and whispered softly by his ear, “I’ll give you something more thrilling later.”
An Yi’s face stiffened, and Yan Chen’s kiss descended again, disrupting his thoughts entirely.
An Yi was carried directly into the room by Yan Chen, who couldn’t wait to get to the bed. He stripped An Yi down in front of the full-length mirror in the foyer.
The mirror reflected his lower abdomen, meticulously trimmed. An Yi felt embarrassed and covered his face.
Yan Chen also noticed and immediately carried him to the sofa, spreading his legs to take a closer look.
The skin there was slightly reddened, and as Yan Chen leaned in close, An Yi immediately reacted to his breath.
Yan Chen playfully flicked it a couple of times, asking knowingly, “Did you do this yourself?”
An Yi raised his hand to cover half of his face, biting his lip without saying a word.
Yan Chen continued teasing him, “You shaved so clean. Do you want me to play with you all day long?”
“…Stop it,” An Yi hooked his legs around Yan Chen’s back, “Come on.”
Yan Chen lowered his head and kissed the smooth sensitive area, causing An Yi to tremble slightly. This excitement made Yan Chen even more excited, and the two of them didn’t even eat dinner, continuing to fool around until late into the night.
When it was over, An Yi collapsed on the edge of the massage bathtub, his whole body limp, his face flushed, and even lifting his fingertips took no strength.
Yan Chen had food sent to the room, steak paired with red wine, and brought it over to the bathtub. He cut it into pieces and fed it directly into An Yi’s mouth with a fork.
“How does it taste?” Yan Chen asked.
An Yi nodded, “Delicious.”
Yan Chen took a bite, frowned slightly, obviously not very satisfied.
But An Yi really thought it was good.
Firstly, he wasn’t as picky as Yan Chen, and secondly, even if Yan Chen fed him poison at this moment, he would gladly accept it.
He liked going to bed with Yan Chen not only for the physical pleasure but also for the moment afterward, when Yan Chen would show some gestures of affection that resembled love.
An Yi knew very well that Yan Chen didn’t love anyone, let alone him.
But he just wanted some response.
Even if it was brief, even if it was an illusion.
At least at this moment, he was happy, deluding himself into happiness.
Yan Chen picked at the food, refusing to eat anything he didn’t like. In the end, all the steak meant for both of them was fed to An Yi.
His belly was swollen, and Yan Chen joked that he had given him a belly. After one more round in bed, he felt satisfied.
Listening to the sound of rushing water in the bathroom, An Yi lay on the bed for a while.
His chest was slightly swollen from being sucked, and even a slight rub against the sheets felt painful. He sat up, leaned against the head of the bed, and opened his phone.
His sister sent a message about tonight’s dinner, saying that she had a good appetite and didn’t vomit, just felt a bit sleepy, and would go to bed early.
Lin Yuming also sent a message, saying it seemed like it was going to snow soon, reminding him to wear something thicker.
Not replying would seem impolite, so An Yi replied, “Thank you, you too.”
Lin Yuming replied instantly: “It’s so late, and you’re still not asleep?”
An Yi looked at the time and realized it was almost midnight.
Time always seemed to slip away when he was with Yan Chen.
Lin Yuming: “Why didn’t you come to the hospital today? Your sister has been talking about you.”
Before he could reply, Lin Yuming sent another message: “I also wanted to see you, and there are many things I want to say.”
An Yi paused.
At the top of the chat box, “Lin Yuming” and “the other party is typing” alternately appeared repeatedly, but there were still no new messages coming in.
An Yi felt he should write something to end this somewhat ambiguous and awkward conversation, but he also felt that nothing he said would be appropriate.
He wasn’t good at dealing with this kind of situation, unlike Yan Chen, who was always so adept.
“What’s wrong? You’ve been frowning all along.”
A deep voice suddenly sounded above his head, startling An Yi. He “clapped” the phone onto the bed.
Yan Chen squinted. “Who are you chatting with?”
An Yi shook his head, but Yan Chen reached out to him. “Let me see.”
“It’s nothing,” An Yi tucked the phone behind him. “I’m just looking at the pictures Xiao Ya sent me.”
“I want to see too.”
Yan Chen’s hair was still wet, and he had a towel around his neck. An Yi tried to distract him by helping him dry his hair, but Yan Chen went around and snatched the phone hidden under the pillow.
Yan Chen knew An Yi’s phone password very well. After unlocking it, he immediately saw the ambiguous message “I also wanted to see you.”
Yan Chen’s face immediately darkened.
A few strands of wet black hair hung in front of his forehead, making his eyes look even darker and deeper, with an aggressive demeanor when looking at people.
“I really misjudged you before,” Yan Chen sneered. “You not only like to flirt with men, but also don’t even blush when lying.”
An Yi’s heart skipped a beat.
His nose felt sour, and he denied in a low voice, “I didn’t flirt with anyone, just normal friends.”
At this moment, his phone “dinged” with a new message. An Yi wanted to take it back, but Yan Chen had already seen the message’s contents.
“‘Actually, I just wanted to tell you, as long as you need me, I’ll be here. Goodnight.'” Yan Chen finished reading and sneered, “So cheesy. You call that a normal friend?”
An Yi gritted his teeth, his face tensing and relaxing, and whispered, “You also have interactions with others, don’t you? Why are you criticizing me?”
“What did you say?” Yan Chen thought he had misheard. An Yi actually dared to talk back to him?!
“How old is that little star today,” An Yi asked, “Is he even an adult?”
“Why are you asking this? Jealous of his youth?” Yan Chen smirked, “A 20-year-old is certainly more energetic than you in your early thirties.”
“You!” An Yi was choked and couldn’t speak. His face was a mix of blue and white, looking particularly unpleasant.
“Lin Yuming,” Yan Chen opened the detailed information page of the contact, “Is he the doctor from last time?”
An Yi slumped back into the covers, wrapping himself tightly, not responding.
Yan Chen took his silence as confirmation, then promptly blocked and deleted Lin Yuming’s contact before tossing the phone back to him, disdainfully saying, “He wants to pursue you, but he should wait till I’ve had enough fun first.”
An Yi clenched his phone tightly, a whirlwind of complex emotions stirring within him.
He suddenly looked up, glaring at Yan Chen, his eyes gradually reddening.
“Do you have to be so harsh with your words? And Lin Yuming now is the doctor in charge of Xiao Ya’s case, you deleted him. What if there’s an emergency on the hospital’s end?”
For five years, An Yi had always been compliant with Yan Chen, never speaking up loudly. This was the first time he had a heated argument with Yan Chen.
Yan Chen was taken aback by An Yi’s unexpected defiance, then a palpable anger surged within him. “Are all the doctors extinct? Does it have to be him to manage her case? Furthermore, you’ve only met that Lin guy a few times. How dare you side with him against me? Do you think I can’t have him fired tomorrow?”
An Yi suddenly felt exhausted. He couldn’t understand why Yan Chen could feel so wronged even when he was threatening others. And why did Yan Chen want to restrict his friendships? They weren’t in a normal relationship anyway. Even if there were some unspoken rules between them, Yan Chen should uphold those rules himself before trying to impose them on An Yi.
He couldn’t comprehend why they always ended up quarreling every time they met recently. He had come with a conciliatory attitude, and they were just harmonious a moment ago.
An Yi sighed.
Yan Chen glared at him. “What’s with your attitude? Did you completely ignore what I said last time?”
