Chapter 198
After entering this world, the first new term Mo Yin heard was “Darwin.”
For natural humans, who considered psychic powers ultimate, the year genetic codes were cracked marked the complete abandonment of physical weapons. Psychic attacks had entirely replaced physical weapons, and psychic defenses could withstand all physical weaponry. Physical weapons were obsolete relics of the old world.
The Ninth District was barren and harsh, lacking resources except for vast quantities of old resource mines. In the old energy era, these minerals made the Ninth District wealthy. However, in the current era, they were no more valuable than sand slipping through fingers. A single rare mineral couldn’t match fertile land. The land here was impoverished; natural humans hadn’t evolved beyond needing food or developed technology to convert the land into arable soil. Despite the high civilization, they worried about food like pre-agricultural humans, a ridiculous contradiction, yet this was reality.
As the commander of the Ninth District, Mo Yin possessed these meaningless resources in the new era.
He was furious and had to find a way to quell this anger.
Thus, the “Darwin” was born.
Physical weapon development had long stagnated. Mo Yin had invested much in seeking breakthroughs during explorations beyond space, constantly evolving the “Darwin”…
When news of the Judge’s restart came, the Darwin also stood ready. It was prepared to launch its wrath from the Ninth District against any natural human in the enforcement zones with a psychic power level above 6.
This was the first thing Mo Yin learned upon entering this world: he was a madman intent on plunging the entire enforcement zone into chaos.
Though merely a background setting, Mo Yin found it quite to his taste.
If he truly were born here and raised here, he would make the exact same choices as this world’s Mo Yin.
As each world progressed, the Mo Yin in the small world became more and more like him. In this world, he was truly an existence from another world.
The explosion before him far exceeded his imagination, catching Tianshu off guard. He began to reassess the person before him. Mo Yin’s face bore a faint smile, looking peaceful yet with eyes hinting at madness. He had swiftly immersed himself in this world, having accepted “his” invitation.
“You want to dismiss us with so little material? Commander of the First District, people from the Ninth District aren’t beggars.”
Tianshu’s wandering gaze gradually focused on Mo Yin’s eyes. “Commander of the Ninth District, are you declaring war on the other enforcement zones?”
“Of course not,” unexpectedly, Mo Yin denied this swiftly. He asserted, “This isn’t war; this is redemption.”
Natural humans now valued psychic power development increasingly. Paradoxically, they exhibited physical degeneration—fair-skinned, delicate, and slender, they trended towards a noble fragility, a symbol of regional wealth. Despite enduring radiation day and night, almost every resident of the Ninth District had some degree of mutation. Though weaker in psychic power compared to other districts, their physical resilience was unparalleled.
At the moment the Darwin launched, the people of the Ninth District received the commander’s orders in the psychic domain. Fully armed troops descended from the ruins, stunning Charlie Yu and the remaining guards just recovering from the explosion.
In this civilized age, seeing such archaic attire perplexed Charlie, who almost believed he had traveled through time.
“Hey,” Charlie shouted amidst the smoke and dust, “can someone explain what’s going on?”
People dressed like they were from the previous century raised their weapons.
Charlie, innocent and wide-eyed, attempted to convey his goodness.
Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to care.
Intense gunfire pounded the psychic barrier.
As commander, Charlie’s psychic power wasn’t weak. However, whatever materials and technology these strange weapons used, it wasn’t until the weapon hit the ship that the natural humans with supposed keen psychic abilities realized what had occurred. Without hesitation, they erected their psychic barriers, but the violent collapse and explosion caused massive impacts on the psychic barriers.
“The psychic force barrier is not endless; its carrier is always human.
The ruins they stepped on gradually sank under intense firepower. The red psychic barrier formed a huge encirclement. Charlie’s face turned increasingly grim. ‘Dear friends, I assure you, I truly was a pacifist.’ As the final word fell, arrows materialized from the psychic force shot towards the attackers!
The clash between physical weapons and psychic force was unimaginable to many naturals, perfectly describing a battle against overwhelming odds.
Every commander in each enforcement District was not just a name. Charlie erected a psychic barrier sufficient to withstand attacks while launching psychic materialization attacks. As a Level 9 psychic, each arrow of psychic energy could penetrate any psychic barrier below Level 8. It was well known that the naturally gifted in the barren lands of the Ninth District were few.
This would be a massacre-like counterattack.
Yet, the bloody scenes imagined by Charlie did not appear.
He forgot.
These people were from the Ninth District.
Their psychic powers were interconnected.
The continuous exchange of fire transformed the perpetually dim Ninth District into a bright place. Tianshu focused his gaze, concentrating his psychic powers on sight, expanding his vision infinitely.
The red psychic barrier became thinner and thinner. Charlie, amidst relentless artillery fire, gradually stooped. His light-colored elegant cape seemed to flutter in the wind.
“What kind of weapon is this?”
Tianshu’s voice was stern, his brow furrowed in seriousness.
“You will have a chance to find out.”
Mo Yin’s expression grew increasingly relaxed. He controlled his psychic powers to confront Tianshu while connecting with the people of the Ninth District to resist Charlie’s attacks.
He was excited.
This world satisfied him, igniting something within him that lay dormant.
The real game was just beginning.
“Don’t worry,” Mo Yin whispered softly, “we just need prisoners.”
“What do you want?”
Tianshu’s demeanor cooled. “Believe me, negotiation will be more effective than war.”
“I am negotiating with you right now. Can’t you feel it?”
Tianshu finally realized from Mo Yin’s expression — the commander of the Ninth District was a madman.
As the two confronted each other, the war at the border ended.
Charlie knelt slowly in Tianshu’s expansive gaze, and all of his guards collapsed.
The image of the noble commander surrounded by barbaric weapons was striking. Tianshu knew the psychic connection of the Ninth District’s people with their commander. Now, Mo Yin was communicating remotely with his people, and Tianshu observed Charlie’s situation, saying, “Alright, I understand. Let’s sit down and negotiate now.”
Mo Yin stared at Tianshu’s face.
For some reason, he felt that this face perfectly matched his imagination of ‘him.’ Everything seemed just right. He liked him. There was no need to think about it anymore.
“I think you still don’t fully understand.”
At the border, the people of the Ninth District aimed their weapons at the kneeling figure.
“No—”
Weapons and words of restraint were launched simultaneously.
At the moment Tianshu subconsciously tried to break through Mo Yin’s barrier at the border, the psychic barrier disappeared and transformed into arrows piercing his chest—
The natural person’s protective barrier reflexively activated. Two powerful psychic forces collided without reserve, causing the entire space to distort and tremble!
Tianshu turned to look at Mo Yin.
Mo Yin smiled at him. The psychic energy transformed into arrows was blocked by the shield-shaped psychic barrier, creating dazzling sparks at the edge.
Tianshu’s heart pounded violently.
This person had absolutely no intention of treating them as ‘prisoners.’ He wanted two corpses—then negotiate with the other commanders.
“You have a good eye,” Mo Yin felt all his excited nerves being teased. He really enjoyed flirting. “I love watching.”
*
A square-foot cell, with a window above emitting a faint red glow.
The blood moon of the Ninth District always gave an ominous feeling.”
“This is just great. This is the price I pay for associating with politicians. I’m such a fool. It’s vacation time now, and yet I believed your nonsense and came to this place with you…” Charlie Yu sat on the ground without any dignity, raised his hand, and with a graceful, almost theatrical gesture, said, “Seeking new allies.”
Tianshu, standing tall, gave him a disdainful look. To preserve Charlie Yu’s life and realize that further confrontation was meaningless, he chose to compromise and became a temporary prisoner.
Charlie’s favorite robe was stained with blood—his own. It was truly despicable; he hadn’t shed a drop in over a decade!
“I’m sorry for getting you into this situation.”
Charlie was merely complaining. The Ninth District had no privacy. Every word he said to Tianshu, every psychic exchange, was undoubtedly monitored by that lunatic, making it impossible for him to say what he truly wanted. Through gritted teeth, he continued, “I never expected him to have such audacity, daring to detain both of us commanders like this. Such a decision is not something ordinary people can make.”
“In fact, privacy regulations are somewhat unnecessary in a truly united enforcement District. I think we should all learn from the Ninth District.”
“Almost all supplies on the spaceship were destroyed, which is truly regrettable. But fortunately, we have stored plenty of resources in other warehouses, enough to get through this tough summer.”
“To be honest, his hair and eyes are quite remarkable. You called it beautiful, and I agree.”
Charlie rambled on, criticizing on the surface while actually praising. Tianshu silently watched him, a smile slowly appearing on his face. “You’ve lost a lot of blood. Can’t you feel that this place is fully shielded?”
Charlie’s expression instantly contorted. Judging by his expression, he must have cursed a thousand times over.
“I damn well thought I was going to die!”
Charlie finally spoke sincerely. His face twisted in pain, he pointed to the wound on his chest. “When that barbaric thing was aimed at me, I thought I was done for. Before that, I thought I’d never be afraid again.”
“He attacked us in such an archaic manner. What does he gain from this? Does he want supplies? We could negotiate, exchange equivalents. What does he mean by this? Is he a natural? He’s too barbaric!”
Tianshu recalled the way the other looked at him, looking up at the window through which a faint red light filtered. “I don’t think he wants to negotiate.”
“Not negotiate? What does that mean? Begging for nothing?” Charlie spat out curses. “Damn it, I’ve never seen someone begging like this!”
“Have you seriously looked into his eyes?”
“Who would stare at those mutated eyes? Honestly, they remind me of extinct snakes.”
“Is that so?”
In Tianshu’s mind, those purple eyes seemed to reappear.
Purple eyes.
What color were his eyes before the mutation?
“From his eyes, I see anger,” Tianshu whispered, with a calmness that Charlie couldn’t comprehend. “Burning rage.”
“He hates everything,” Tianshu turned his face, as if he had discovered a new continent, speaking to Charlie, “He hates this world.”
“Oh, great. Congratulations, we’ve stirred up a madman. Is that what you want me to say?”
Charlie said bitterly.
Tianshu didn’t answer Charlie’s question. He simply silently answered it to himself.
Their essence was the same.
Because he, too, hated this world.
