Professor Qi, Let’s Fake a Marriage
Professor Qi, Let’s Fake a Marriage Chapter 48

Chapter 48: Professor, Did You Have a Relationship in Your Early Years?

“Thanks for the reminder.”

Though he didn’t mind, it was a kind gesture.

After dinner, they had work to do, so they headed back to the office.

Wen Zhixian looped her arm through Qi Yanjing’s as they strolled down the street.

She turned to him and asked, “Professor, did you have a relationship when you were younger?”

Qi Yanjing immediately denied it, “I didn’t.”

“Didn’t you date in your third year? Were you already an adult then?”

“Of course, I was an adult.”

Wen Zhixian deliberately shook her head. “I don’t believe it.”

Qi Yanjing then clarified the timeline in detail.

After hearing his explanation, she couldn’t help but laugh.

Qi Yanjing finally realized she had played him.

He helplessly pinched her cheek.

As they passed a jewelry store, Qi Yanjing paused and looked inside. “I didn’t buy you jewelry for our wedding.”

It suddenly occurred to him that he should have bought her some.

If he hadn’t seen this store today, he would have forgotten.

Before Wen Zhixian could respond, he took her inside.

Once inside, Wen Zhixian thought of Xiao Bai and decided to buy a small gold piece for her.

She picked out a delicate bracelet and asked Qi Yanjing, “Do you think this one is nice?”

Qi Yanjing examined it for a few seconds and replied, “Don’t try to save money for me.”

Wen Zhixian smiled. “This is for an employee at my store who is leaving.”

The bracelet wasn’t expensive, costing a few thousand.

It was a thoughtful gift, and gold retains its value, so if her family needed money in the future, she could sell it to help.

Wen Zhixian handed the bracelet to the staff to have it wrapped.

“Let’s see what you like.” Qi Yanjing took her over to the necklace section.

The staff immediately recommended a few pieces.

Qi Yanjing eagerly helped her choose a necklace.

“Which one looks better?”

Wen Zhixian hesitated between two, not wanting to make Qi Yanjing spend too much. She didn’t often wear jewelry and already had some at home.

Qi Yanjing picked up a necklace and held it up to her slender, pale neck.

Just then, the staff member complimented her, “Sir, your wife is so beautiful and fair. Any of these would look great on her.”

“Wrap both of them up,” he said, handing the necklaces to the staff.

The staff member smiled even brighter.

Wen Zhixian paused, “I don’t wear them often.”

“It’s fine, if you don’t wear them, just keep them there to take up space,” he said, pulling her toward the bracelet counter.

The staff member’s eyes lit up again and rushed over to recommend more.

She thought to herself: What a fortunate day—generous customers who buy everything after a few compliments!

In the end, they bought two necklaces, a gold bracelet, and the earlier bracelet, with Qi Yanjing paying for everything.

The staff bid them a polite farewell and invited them to visit again.

“Why didn’t you pick a ring you like?” Qi Yanjing asked as he carried the shopping bags.

“I still prefer the one you gave me,” Wen Zhixian replied. “Compared to these, it feels more special to me.” She raised her hand to show him, “Maybe it’s just a matter of personal preference.”

Hearing that, Qi Yanjing realized he had chosen it because it felt right for him, too.

He gently took her raised hand, holding it by his side as he softly said, “You’re also just my type.”

Wen Zhixian looked up at him, and they shared a smile.

Back home,

Wen Zhixian transferred the money for the bracelet she had bought for Xiao Bai.

“This bracelet is for someone else, so I can’t let you pay for it,” she said. He had already spent so much on her. She didn’t want to let him pay for this too.

Qi Yanjing didn’t look at his phone as he passed by her, sitting on the couch. He teasingly stroked her face twice and lazily lifted his chin, saying, “If you like it, spend a little more.”

He finished speaking and went to pour a glass of warm water.

These words warmed Wen Zhixian’s heart; no one could resist hearing kind words.

She began to think about what she should buy for Qi Yanjing.

Qi Yanjing placed the glass in front of her on the table and sat beside her.

Wen Zhixian started talking to him about Xiao Bai. “Her parents want to trick her into going back to marry, and then make her support her brother. She’s been working here for two years, and people in shops like ours don’t tend to stay long. A few batches have come and gone. For those who’ve been here for over two years, I always give them a little gift before they leave.”

“So, I bought her a bracelet. It holds its value.”

Qi Yanjing pulled her into his arms and drawled, “Mm… Boss Wen is such a good person.”

No matter how much she said, Qi Yanjing always had a response. The contrast made her feel like she had wasted time in her previous relationship. Apart from her one-sided affection, Gu Yuchen’s presence was dispensable, and he would even give her attitude.

She looped her arms around his neck, pressing herself against him.

Qi Yanjing’s gaze darkened; she felt so soft, and he couldn’t help but remember how alluring she looked last night.

His heart began to stir.

He called out hoarsely, “Zhixian.”

Wen Zhixian looked up at him, seeing that lustful glint in his eyes that she had seen last night.

Remembering last night, she hummed lightly, feeling wronged. “You don’t care about me, but you lied to me… saying it was the last time.”

As she said this, she bit her lip, her voice growing softer.

Her large, watery eyes were so endearing, “It hurt.”

Qi Yanjing kissed her lips and then pulled her to sit on his lap, his hand moving to lift up her skirt.

Wen Zhixian quickly pressed his hand down, surprised. “What are you doing?”

Her mind was filled with Qin Zhaoli’s words: The seemingly aloof intellectuals can be wilder than anyone else when they let loose.

…He couldn’t really be that type, could he?

“Let me take a look,” Qi Yanjing said calmly, his tone serious.

Wen Zhixian was stunned—how could anyone say such a thing so seriously?

“No.” She immediately refused.

This was so awkward.

Qi Yanjing paid no attention, only wanting to check if she had been hurt.

He had been a bit reckless last night.

He carried Wen Zhixian into the bedroom.

After a quick assessment, he was finally at ease.

Wen Zhixian’s face was flushed, almost as if it were bleeding, especially with Qi Yanjing holding her legs firmly, looking so serious, as if it were a major project. Could it be that she was the one thinking of something inappropriate?

Qi Yanjing helped straighten her skirt and said, “I’ll be gentler next time.”

Wen Zhixian muttered quietly, “You better.”

The words reached Qi Yanjing’s ears, and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

His sleep quality had improved remarkably recently, and he no longer had nightmares like before.

His heart wasn’t as empty anymore, and his temper had improved a lot.

He was almost always in a good mood now.

Mm, it was all thanks to his wife.

Qi Yanjing had barely arrived at the office when Zhou Chuyu came in and immediately approached him. “Jing’er, that Shen Zhi asked for your contact details yesterday. She said she had something to discuss with you.”

“There’s nothing to talk about with her.” Qi Yanjing sprayed some water on the small plant on his desk.

He couldn’t help but think of the green fern on the balcony at home, which Wen Zhixian had taken such good care of.

He didn’t pay Zhou Chuyu’s words any mind.

Shen Zhi?

Who cares about her?
