Chapter 59: Professor, Take Care of Yourself
Martial arts?
Wen Zhixian turned to Qi Yanjing and asked, “What do you think his family does for a living?”
Qi Yanjing’s lips curved into a smile. “Zhixian, do you want to bet on it?”
She shifted her position, snuggling into Qi Yanjing’s arms, looking up at his deep-set eyes. “Sure.”
“We should wager something to make it interesting, right?”
Wen Zhixian pondered for a moment. “What do you want to bet?”
“If I win, I want to see if I can manage seven rounds in one night. If you win, I’ll let you decide what happens.” His tone was so innocent despite his suggestive words.
Wen Zhixian’s mind was filled with one thought: What the heck?!
“Professor, take care of yourself,” she said with a smile.
Qi Yanjing kissed her forehead. “Your husband is in great shape.”
“Alright.” If she won, Qi Yanjing would be at her disposal.
It was just a guess—a fifty-fifty chance.
Wen Zhixian had an answer in mind but still urged Qi Yanjing, “You guess first.”
Without hesitation, Qi Yanjing said, “A bodyguard agency.”
Wen Zhixian guessed, “A martial arts school or a martial arts gym. I think their business might be pretty big, probably a chain.”
She nestled further into Qi Yanjing’s arms and playfully said, “I mentioned two options. Can we count either one as a win for me? Pretty please?”
Qi Yanjing flicked her cheek gently, his eyes filled with amusement. “It’s not impossible, but let me hear something sweet first.”
Wen Zhixian immediately adjusted her voice to sound like a sweet girl, “Yanjing, Yanjing.”
Each call was sweeter than the last.
Qi Yanjing shook his head. “Not enough.”
“Big brother, Yanjing-ge, hubby.” Adding another title increased her chances of winning. Besides, he was her legitimate husband.
One call after another, her soft voice melted him. Qi Yanjing hooked her chin with his finger. “Alright, fine.”
Wen Zhixian sent Zhou Qishi another message: “What does your family do?”
Zhou Qishi replied: “A bodyguard agency. If I were some frail young master, my parents wouldn’t let me drift around out here. Ugh, poor me, a little cabbage in the field—no one loves me, no one cares.”
A bodyguard agency!
Wen Zhixian sat up abruptly, looking at Qi Yanjing. “How did you guess that so accurately? Did you cheat?”
Qi Yanjing spread his hands. “It was just a random guess. I don’t even know Zhou Qishi—how could I cheat?”
Wen Zhixian thought about it and agreed. He didn’t know Zhou Qishi.
Still, guessing correctly by chance? Too unfair.
Qi Yanjing patted the spot beside him, signaling for her to lie back down.
Wen Zhixian nestled back into his arms, her head resting against his chest, perfectly positioned to nuzzle his chin. She rubbed against him and gave him two small kisses.
Just as she was about to say something, Qi Yanjing lowered his head and kissed her on the lips, teasing her before finally letting her go.
Wen Zhixian caught her breath before saying, “We just did this yesterday.”
Qi Yanjing had no intention of actually attempting seven rounds tonight. After all, Zhixian had been scared by those street punks earlier. She needed a good night’s rest.
“Say something sweet again,” he coaxed.
Wen Zhixian leaned into his ear and murmured several endearing phrases like “good hubby” and “darling.”
Qi Yanjing was thoroughly satisfied.
At that moment, her phone buzzed again. It was another message from Zhou Qishi:
“Boss, was the guy who compensated me for my emotional damage tonight the CEO of Huayi Group, Mr. Gu?”
Wen Zhixian replied: “You even recognize him?”
Zhou Qishi: “I don’t know him, but anyone with a bit of wealth in the circle tends to hire bodyguards. Many faces look familiar to me.”
Then he switched the topic: “Boss, do you need a bodyguard? I think you really could use one. If you do, I’ll give you a friendly discount.”
Wen Zhixian chuckled: “Thanks for the concern, but no need.”
She wasn’t like Gu Yuchen and the others with sky-high net worth, nor did she have enemies. Hiring a bodyguard would be pointless. She’d rather hire a housekeeper to cook for her.
Zhou Qishi considered it and replied: “Fair enough. Besides, I’m already working for you, and I’m as good as three people.”
After chatting for a while, Wen Zhixian exited the conversation, turned off her phone, and placed it aside.
Just as she was about to turn off the lights, a thought struck her. She turned to look at Qi Yanjing, only to find him gazing at her with an amused expression.
“Wait a minute, how did you guess so accurately?” The more she thought about it, the more suspicious it felt.
Qi Yanjing smirked and teased, “What’s so wrong about it?”
Propping himself on his elbow, he lay on his side, staring at her.
“Everything is off! You definitely cheated!” she declared. His expression seemed like he was toying with her.
Qi Yanjing still didn’t reveal anything, deliberately asking, “What makes you say that?”
“Did you hire bodyguards from his family before?” She suddenly recalled that Qi Yanjing’s family was in business too, and he’d been kidnapped as a child. Surely his parents would have hired bodyguards to protect him.
But after saying it, she worried she might have brought up a painful memory and went quiet.
Qi Yanjing pinched her cheek lightly and explained, “I really just guessed. I did hire bodyguards before, and I think their surname was Zhou. Based on what Zhou Qishi said, I made a random guess and happened to get it right.”
Seeing that his mood hadn’t dipped, she relaxed and said, “That explains why it was so accurate. Well, that round doesn’t count.”
Qi Yanjing clicked his tongue, reached out to turn off the light, and pulled her into his arms. Wen Zhixian yelped, which made him laugh. “Don’t move. Move again, and it’s a seven-round-night warning.”
Wen Zhixian froze in place in his arms.
She knew he was just trying to scare her.
It wasn’t like intimacy between husband and wife was a big deal, but the idea of seven times in one night was terrifying. His stamina was just too overwhelming.
After a while, Wen Zhixian quietly poked her head out of his embrace and softly asked, “Were you upset earlier?”
There was no response for about ten seconds. She thought he’d fallen asleep and was about to shift into a comfortable sleeping position herself.
Just as she closed her eyes, Qi Yanjing’s deep voice broke the silence. “Not when you’re here with me.”
When he was alone, the memories would resurface—bloody, painful, and unbearable. Blood splattered on him, heads rolling at his feet… terrifying scenes that left him anxious and unsettled.
But having her by his side now was a blessing.
Wen Zhixian didn’t respond. She simply placed her hand on him and gently caressed him.
The bedroom fell silent again.
The three tables from the night before were removed. She had ordered new tables and chairs, which were delivered early in the morning and replaced the old ones.
She was busy cleaning up the trash.
“Boss, did someone cause trouble last night?” Yue Qi walked over and helped sort out some cardboard boxes.
Wen Zhixian hummed, “Yeah, but nothing major. They compensated for it.”
“I checked the surveillance. Zhou Qishi’s pretty good at fighting, huh?” He had been shocked while watching the footage. Zhou seemed so young and innocent, yet his moves were swift and real—no tricks, just solid technique.
Wen Zhixian glanced out the window. “He’s here. Go ask him yourself.”
